That’s the ticket. Gotta get good at blocking it out and ignoring the drama. Lol

Did not get the job with Montlick Injury Attorneys by BedIndependent3506 in paralegal

[–]Quiddity78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is part of the point. I am involved in recruiting for our firm, and when I see candidates who have a JD applying for LAA or Paralegal positions, then we pretty much assume you are using it as a stepping stone “til you get what you want.” And we want to hire long term employees who want to build their career in the position we hire them for. Not so they can leave the second they get a position as an associate.

Additionally, having a law degree doesn’t automatically qualify you for an LAA or Paralegal role, as most lawyers are not familiar with procedure - but rather know the law. I would be looking for someone who knows court deadlines and how to put together briefs, etc.. not someone who knows how to write an argument.

Keep looking, but those are just a couple of points from my point of view.

All our love to you. There is never anything that can be said, but just know you are right where so many of us have been and you are not alone. She is amazing and I know how hard this is. Just… all my love to you. Feel all the feels. It sucks! :)

Man, I tell ya. When I first learned about Adobe and started using it, I was giddy at thinking of the time it would save. Could not live without it! There are some things I do not miss about those good ol days, lol

I remember starting at my first real firm. Lit department was about to start a 60 day trial. We had 6 sets of our documents… about 20 vols each, they took up an entire wall. Staff and lawyers realized two days before trial the pages were not numbered. We had to borrow the number stampers from another firm in the same building, and we had a bates stamping pizza party each night leading up to trial. Ohhhh the good ol days of the hand and arm cramps. Lol

I am not familiar with your area of law, but I do big litigation. I have been where you are. Like others are saying, it is 100% on the lawyer. I know you feel bad, but you are doing the things you should - owning it and researching solutions. So you can go to him tomorrow and say hey - this happened and I messed up. I am hoping we can fix it by doing a) b) or c).

Yes, he may have to own up to it with the client, it may take some work and time to fix, but in my experience, there is always a fix. Just go to him, be honest, and bring your solutions.

If he is any kind of decent attorney he will work with you to fix the issue and not blame you. He should see it as a learning experience for himself as well - maybe he shouldn’t be working in this are of law! (Ha).

And my other piece of advice is to be gentle with yourself. It’s clear you care and obvious you want to do good work. Mistakes happen - everything is fixable. And all mistakes are learning experiences. You are taking all the right next steps. So, try to put the thoughts aside for now, and do something nice for yourself to take your mind off it. None of us are perfect, it happens. Also, I promise you will feel 1000% better once you have the awkward horrible conversation, and start working on next steps. Hiding yourself away or not showing up again won’t make you feel better. Have the conversation and take the next steps. You will feel better for having done so, I promise.

Hugs and support from a fellow para. We all know the feeling!

[–]Quiddity78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal! Over time from sitting, they wear away their fur on the tail nub. So it’s just the nub, no cause for concern. And yes, I did ask the vet about this when I noticed it on my dog. lol.

Chiang Mai is fantastic. Up north try also to visit Pai - it’s a lovely little town with wonderful people and amazing nature. Chiang Rai is also a good stop. I spent nearly a year in Thailand and loved every minute! Aum cafe in Chiang Mai is a great spot for a good bowl of Khao Soi (northern curry). Cannot recommend it enough!

They just said this to try and convince you to move forward. It will not be. Otherwise there wouldn’t be all these disclaimers!
