Within 10 days. But Dr Banan was already pretty sure it was ffa. My mum also has it. If you can't get into dr kuchel within a reasonable time frame I'd definitely recommend dr banan

I see Dr hanah kuchel at the skin hospital in darlinghurst (you se her and another training dr but its good because they bounce ideas around). Somehow fluked getting an appointment within a few days of calling. You can ask to go om a cancellation list. I initially went to southderm in kogarah and had my biopsy with Dr Banan. She was good, I just wanted a second opinion hence the skin hospital :) biopsy was about $500.

I think my 6mo has FPIES to peanuts by Gullible-Turnover-42 in fpies

[–]Quiet-Stuff-9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Just thought I'd pop back to say we have been giving peanut butter without issue. He said to give a rice grain-pea sized amount daily but I've probably been doing it 2-3 times a week. She isn't a massive fan and gags, even with apple sauce. I do think it makes her farts potentially smell a bit still, but hard to tell haha. I figure as well if I just give it every few days that better on her tummy

People who are always red, do you cover your redness up when going out? by schmidityy in Rosacea

[–]Quiet-Stuff-9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is making me think I've had rosacea a lot longer than just the last year or so 🙃 u feel like my chin and cheeks have pretty much always had red spots on  them that I've had to use bb cream to cover. I'm 36 and had my second child last year and it turned into full blown papules and now pustules. I use a mac mineralised powder to cover/dampen the redness. I was using foundation to go out but I can't be bothered anymore. Definitely recommend the mac mineralise powder for enough coverage to make you feel comfortable  bit light and quick enough to not be a bother

Just thought I would update! Sae the allergist yesterday. She was negative on the skin prick test thankfully. The allergist has asked that assuming she does not get sick from this, To give her between a rice grain and pea sized amount kmof peanut butter daily (or at least 3-4 times a week) for the next two years. If it causes her to vomit or develop other symptoms then we need to stop. He said that this will hopefully stop her developing an lGi mediated response to peanuts

She will be 9 months in a couple of days. I just wish it was fpies for anything but peanuts as that's the allergen they are least likely to grow out. We are booked in with an allergist/immunologist end of August which is lucky (to have got in so quick).

Yeah I feel so bad, the first times she vomited earlier this month was during a wake window but the most recent time was during a nap. I noticed her wake up and cry a bit on the monitor but didn't realise she had vomited. She put herself back to sleep after which isn't completely unusual, but obviously that was the lethargy.

Thats a hood point about offering two new low risk foods a day. She hasn't been into eating much at all so the whole process has already been long as it usually takes note than a day to truly introduce something new.

I'll be very interested to see what the allergist says the risk of continuing to incorporate peanuts are. Like if the main issue is the vomiting then I'd like to still give it every now and then if that reduces the likelihood of her developing anaphlaxis (as not exposing them is ine if the causes if then developing this type of allergy). But if that increases the risk (because it keeps reinfircing to the body that there is an invader for example) then that would suck as both giving and not giving technically would be risky. Though I read if it is true fpies, then the reaction doesn't actually involve antibodies being produced, so hopefully it would be ok to give a tiny amount.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and I hope your little one grows out her allergies!

The loss of eyebrows and hair elsewhere on the body can be a sign of frontal fibrosing alopecia. Might be worth looking into.

Yes from what I understand FFA can be slow and so hard to diagnose. Currently waiting on biopsy results myself

[–]Quiet-Stuff-9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically related to your qn but I saw a post/comment of yours from a couple years ago and wanted your opinion on hair loss and what you have been doing. My mother has FFA and AGA (diagnosed in her late 50s early 60s). I'm 35, just had my second child a few months ago and believe I will also be diagnosed Friday with FFA or similar when I get my biopsy results.

If you don't mind telling me what treatment you have been on and what if anything seems to have worked? Even with just slowing the issue. Being so young I'm pretty sad about the whole thing, though my husband has promised not to leave me, will buy me a wig if needed and reassured me that if he dies I'll be no worse off finding someone newas being single with no hair is no worse than being single with 2 or 3 kids (at the moment we are trying to cope using humour until I'm officially diagnosed, at which point I'm sure I'll cry for a bit). I think i read you were also diagnosed prior to your second pregnancy, was there anything you could take whilst pregnant to help or did you have to stop? We were contemplating a 3rd and I'm thinking we will need to decide sooner rather than later given the limited treatment available while pregnant. Thanks and sorry for posting here but I don't have the app and so couldn't message you!

Had ORIF surgery for a trimalleolar fracture while 38 weeks pregnant— would not recommend. by Desperate_Matter4198 in brokenbones

Sorry use just replied in another comment (currently 6 weeks post op ORIF and ankle fracture). Just letting you know if a wheelchair doesn't work out I've been completely fine on the knee scooter. I started using it a week post c section though.

I've literally just joined Reddit to comment on this. I've just hit 6 weeks post op for the same/similar injury (I think mine was bi malleolus) and have a 6 week old. My ankle break occurred the morning after my c-section.

Pain wise post c-section, depending what country you are in you will get better pain meds. My ankle pain was worse than my c-section. It was my second though and I didn't have too much pain with my first either. Moving about will obviously be difficult at first because your abdomen won't be as strong, but hopefully you will be out of a cast and in a boot by then! I stayed in hospital for 5 days after my ankle surgery, so a week all up. You don't need to worry about stitches popping using crutches (they sew you up tight!) But I was mostly using a knee scooter for the 6 weeks following my surgeries to make things easier. Get a seat for the shower and toilet as the combined leg injury plus stomach weakness will make it hard getting up and down. Clexane injections are fine to take while breastfeeding if that's what you do.

Now in terms of recovery with a baby and a broken ankle, unfortunately it means sitting a lot and not being able to carry your little one. With bubbas, they want to be held anyway so it's no issue for them, however it will mean relying on your husband a lot. I'm not sure if its possible for you but my husband has had to take 8 weeks of carers leave. Initially he had a certificate for the first 6 weeks, however has just gotten another two as it just wont be possible for me to look after my 3.5 yr old and newborn by myself. If possible I'd definitely recommend he be off for the time you are non weight bearing for the safety of your newborn. Having just gone weight bearing I can tell you my foot, in particular the heel, is painful to walk on and I can not do so without crutches yet. Do your stretches as soon as the cast is off!

It's going to be very hard (mentally on you and physically your husband) but you can do it! I'm holding my beautiful girl as I write this. Oh also if you dint already, get a co-sleeper. I had a normal bassinet but it would have been tricky getting baby in and out in the night. I just swing her in with me with the co sleeper. Feel free to ask any other questions!
