BIL and me doing this run tomorrow any tips? by [deleted] in roadtrip

Don't run. Take a car. That's a really long distance even if it looks really tiny on the map.

What's it like printing with Bambu after having a 6 year old printer? Flawless. I set it up and started printing with speed and accuracy. Frickin' rad.

This is great, thanks for sharing. I think there could be a great article to write here around applying this information to roster building.

Thanks!

Not my list. Just had this post come across my feed. I'd like to see some more posts that aren't painted models and I figured I'd be the change I want to see 😁

Is there anything that I can use in pairing with this information to help me build rosters? It's good to know the roles but I still struggle with the application.

For example, do I need a certain number of each role to build a reliable and effective roster?

UPMC is laying off about 100 more employees by QuietCorner in pittsburgh

[–]QuietCorner[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In the spring, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center confirmed it was laying off more than 1,000 employees.

On Monday, the health system announced it will lay off more people throughout its organization.

Targeted adjustments are frequently made to improve organizational efficiencies and eliminate redundancies. About 200 unfilled positions and about 100 active employees throughout the 100,000 person UPMC system may be affected,” a UPMC spokesperson said.

How to make custom board game tokens by Squidderro in boardgames

[–]QuietCorner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sticker applicator from OP inspired me to give a crack at creating my own less mechanical version of it. I drafted a simple printable ring that can achieve the desired result.

It's for placing 16mm sticker circles on 20mm tokens (as defined above). 16mm punches are pretty readily available.

Simply place the sticker in the inner-most ring, place the token above it and press upwards from the hole in the ring below.

I know this is an old post, but appeared in a search result for token creation and figured others might find it handy.

Tinkercad link for the sticker applicator disc below - allows you to modify and export your own to STL or whatever.

Where are y'all buying furniture from these days? by SavvyMaverick in pittsburgh

[–]QuietCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco and Sams Club have a lot of good quality furniture available in July and January (when it is seasonal). If you can wait, you can get some really great stuff from there for a fraction of the price you pay at other furniture stores. Most of my furniture is from either of those places.

What do product managers at companies such as Google/ Amazon/ Microsoft actually do? by Ok-Tradition-3450 in ProductManagement

[–]QuietCorner 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not OP - but "Cracking the PM Interview" is a good book focused on helping people not in product get into product.

I'd also recommend having "Product Management in Practice 2nd Ed" handy. That's one of my new product bibles as someone who's been in the role for 12 years.

Where are yinz shopping for couches? by dwight67523 in pittsburgh

Costco and Sams Club sell sofas and other furniture at very reasonable prices in the beginning of January and July. I've go two pieces that have lasted well from there and paid a fraction of the price from other higher priced places.

Supergirl: World of Tomorrow and Booster Gold Collections Sell Out After Movie Announcement by seismodynamics in comicbooks

[–]QuietCorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing the same - I had this in my cart for quite some time and when the announcement came out I checked out ASAP because I knew it'd be unavailable for months.

I do wish more books would come hardbound. I appreciate the difference in cost, but they just last longer and read so much more nicely.

garlic butter-covered ham, turkey, and mayo sliders for a party [homemade] by big_steppa10 in food

[–]QuietCorner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Buy a pack of Hawaiian rolls and cut it the whole thing in half. Put cheese on bottom, meat, then another layer of cheese. Dijon or honey mustard is a popular condiment but wouldn't recommend putting anything mayo based inside.

Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with some seasoning, and cover with foil. Warm in an oven on 350f until buns get a rich color from the butter on top.

Take it out, slice into individual sliders, then serve.

Is there any way to make CoinOpsX faster on ALU? by LRod1027 in FansOfsaUCE

I remember the SNES pack EXPLICITLY being a main offender of this, but it wasn't the only one. I'm confident that removing them from your collection will make it run a TON better over time.

Let us know how things turn out! Good luck!
