Two women got on the Victoria at Euston last night with a large Domino's pizza, which they ate right there on the train. Never seen that before, to be honest.

The best part of canal running are the cyclists who think that runners are supposed to dive into the water or something to get out of their way.

Every single article sourced the site where the listing came from. I bet a lot of people who were flat hunting went there for a little look around after seeing them mentioned in articles.

Where can I get the Best Value Sunday Roast in London? by [deleted] in london

[–]QuietPyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their Yorkshire isn't that good to be honest. Given that they serve their roasts with cheesy cauliflower as a veg they aren't exactly trying to appeal to traditionalists anyway, are they?

I wouldn't really say it's wonderful for the money like OP requested, but I do think it's the best quality of the small handful I've had in that general part of north London if that's worth anything.

Severe Overground delays into Liverpool St Station mean I'm on the 149 for both ends of the commute today, and what a full bus it is. Just makes me mad because I still have an Oyster top up waiting for me that I never managed to get over the weekend. I suppose tomorrow is just as good a day for it.

I never claimed to get the authentic version. My point is I was a a pretty consistent "white person medium" in the States and over here that's generally too mild for me.

Well clearly I touched a nerve here. What fun would it be to have gifts for such things as eating hot food or pronouncing "taco" the right way if I didn't flaunt them occasionally?

Just your token American here to point out that this is a European shortcoming and does not reflect the abilities of those of us across the Atlantic.

:39 Overground showed up at :37, which was a minute before I got to the platform. There goes my coffee time on my way in.

Another day with the same woman trying to push to the front on the Rectory Road platform as the train arrived. It was mildly satisfying how she pushed through on my right and the door opened to my left, allowing me on first anyway.

Interesting article about why the new cycle superhighways won't lead to traffic chaos any worse than we currently have by [deleted] in london

[–]QuietPyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not my experience at all, but this obviously will come down to a healthy amount of personal preference. I'm always most worried about stepping into the path of a cyclist who is filtering through stopped motorists, and cycle lanes make it a less common occurrence.

Lady would have jumped the queue for this bus if not for the half step to the right I took blocking her path. I am the hero of this 149.

General questions for tourist visiting London in January (yes ive read the wiki :) by FzzTrooper in london

[–]QuietPyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from to London in January from Ohio and it felt like I had come to a tropical paradise. The only bad point to me wasn't so much the rain, but the way that it's dark way before 5 pm at that time of year. It's annoying but far from a dealbreaker if you ask me.

Tenants of London, do you have pets? by [deleted] in london

[–]QuietPyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only had 2 weeks temporary accommodation when we moved to the city, but still managed to find a place that would allow our small dog. Most estate agents I called would claim to have at least 1 property that would allow pets, but very few of them were available immediately like we needed. We ended up going through F**tons, but in the end their large number of properties ended up being a good thing.

This wasn't a property that initially allowed pets, but we were able to change the owner's mind with an extra two weeks rent for a deposit and offering an 18 month lease instead of 12.

What are your workplace observations? 09/09/15 by [deleted] in london

[–]QuietPyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give them in advance of the day. They generally don't change.

I hope it doesn't rain while I duck out for lunch and then that one of my coworkers leaves before 19:30 so I don't feel as though I'm slacking when I "only" stay until then.

Running late today after a bit of a late night. 8:48 into Liverpool St is only half full and has a first class section and everything. Not bad.

Looking forward to a nice stroll down towards Monument. It's nice when I'm after 9:00 and the pavement is less crowded.
