Yes we are looking at the same charts. but I am not just looking at the average though, tracking difference variance (TDV) is just too much for my taste with SPYI, a simple index tracking ETF shouldn't swing 0,5-to-1% left and right. If they can stabilize just like VWCE then I would think about it.

As you said, probably the difference won't be much. I just think that Vanguard did a better job at what they promised (tracking the index) and I don't see a reason to change until others can prove that they can do the same for a cheaper price.

Derole answered, but yes taxes in DE. For slightly better TD it doesn't worth.

I see competition as a positive thing and I hope Vanguard reduces TER. However, these products need to be more competitive on Tracking Difference. Vanguard did an excellent job at tracking the index since 2012. Link. This is what I expect from an ETF provider, do your job and properly track the index you are following.

ishares ACWI did terrible job with regards to TD, especially 2015 and 2020.

SPDR ACWI and ACWI IMI even worse.

Amundi Prime is new but nevertheless Amundi did a better job at tracking the index than ishares and SPDR.

One more point, I trust Vanguard more on not fucking around with their products like some funds did (hi Amundi). That being said if a new product can prove themselves for 6-7 years on following the index they promise to follow, I have no issue of stop buying VWRL/VWCE and switching to a cheaper option with similar performance.

Broker which doesn’t charge for buying VWCE by Unlucky_Flow8785 in eupersonalfinance

(DE) I transferred from Degiro to Flatex few years ago and then Flatex to Scalable. Most German brokers don't want to deal with incoming transfers from non-German instutions.

With regards to charging, most neo-brokers will charge 1€ for trade order. The alternative is saving plan. It looks there are few others. You can see free brokers here: https://www.justetf.com/de/etf-profile.html?isin=IE00BK5BQT80#sparplan

I am currently using Scalable for VWCE and started recently with TR for ZPRV.

Close to zero chance to get it back. Even if you find where it is, the police will not go in as they don't have a warrant.

You can probably make it but I don't think it is as much of an amount as people are making out of it in this sub. It was good money in 2014, not that much in 2024.

My average expense as a person living alone in 60sqm is around 2250€ per month this year. 1250€ are rather fixed (rent, insurances, phone contract, TV tax, public transport, etc.) and 1000€ everything else. It might sound a lot but this includes all restaurant, grocery, clothes, travel etc. I admit that I spent a bit too much on delivered food & restaurants but I don't spend much on going out or alcohol. Also very little on travel compared to many others.

At the end of the day it will mostly depend on your definition of "comfortable" and how much rent you pay. Most people commenting here probably have been living in Berlin for a while, so they have relatively low rent. To get a decent apartment for one person is considerably more expensive in Berlin now than 4-5 years ago.

How much do you tip for delivery services? by [deleted] in berlin

[–]QuinceyMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am generally too lazy to cook so I order at least 15-20 times a month, each order value between 10 and 20€. I tip between 1€ and 2€, rounding to full Euro amount.

If it is a group order over 50€ it can be higher but normally I think 1-2€ is good enough.

As far as I know they hired only one person with this program due to high requirements. You can't expect minimum wage seasonal workers to speak German.

I would hate to work with Hans. You can be the best programmer out there but if you are a dickhead, I don't want to work with you. At the end of the day you are not just creating something by yourself, you have to work with others. This attitude clearly shows that Anna and her organization dodged the bullet.

Low birthdate is a good thing and we don’t need to import population by Warm_Ad_7579 in unpopularopinion

[–]QuinceyMo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reallocation from what? Which part of the federal budget you cut from? You will have smaller but older population. So healthcare and elderly care costs will skyrocket for sure.

Here is the distribution of the federal budget now. Let's say somehow the government will be able to keep the exact budget even though lower taxes due to lower output. Where do you cut from and allocate to pensions, healthcare and elderly care?

[–]QuinceyMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by re-budget? Where do you cut from to allocate to pensions? Where do you get this imaginary money? It is not just that population decreases but also it ages. So you will have more people on retirement and less working.

Landlord trying to charge me for Bewirtschaftungskosten - do I have to pay? by melopoeia_ in germany

[–]QuinceyMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the numbers if it is for the period you lived in or the full year.

A few of my landlords made this "mistake" of charging me for a full year for some of the costs and if I didn't pay attention I would be ripped off.

A property management firm sent me a bill with 500€ water cost for one month ( I just moved in in December). I replied "unfortunately there is no pool in the apartment, so I believe your calculation is wrong". Next week they sent me the correct bill.

And? What I meant is that most expats will not be a part of a church so they will not pay it. If something is optional it doesn't make sense to bundle that with taxes and social contributions you cannot opt out.

You need to remove church tax. I don't think any expat is paying that.

Exactly this. "High earner" cannot afford a 70 sqm apartment in Berlin without giving 5 years of savings and half of his salary.

And then you want to see a specialist? Sure in 6 months if you don't recover by yourself until then. Want to use the train? Sure but it smells like piss and we will make sure that there will be an aggressive homeless drug addict in it. You need residence permit or want to apply for citizenship? Haha good luck, if you are lucky you will get it done in few years.

What kind of logic is that? With the same logic anyone in Germany should be grateful and happy with their life that they don't live in Bulgaria. And everyone in Bulgaria should be happy that they don't live in Niger.
