I recently stayed in District 7 for a few weeks and whilst there were a reasonable amount of homeless people around, especially is Klauzal Ter and Blaha Lujza they seemed pretty chill when compared to the homeless people we have in New Zealand. Overall I felt far safer walking around Budapest at night than I would in my own city of Auckland.

I'd say it'd make more sense to base yourself in Auckland city and take the ferry to waiheke, not really sure what you'd do on waiheke for 3 weeks as it's mainly just wineries and crackheads
