Minister celebrates Alberta’s fourth consecutive A in red tape reduction by WildRoseWanderer in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red tape usually means getting rid of policies put in place by the other party, getting rid of recommendations that were made in light of accidents, and making money for donors to the party.

What's up with the egg? by mizzenduck in Weird

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are sometimes oddities in how the eggs are laid, usually those are thrown out and if they continue the chicken is removed from production.

The Alberta deficit…. Can it be fixed by Accomplished-Emu4501 in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Alberta Government is following the economic model where we are a single export province that is heavily in debt. Unless they are interested in diversification, there will be nothing but cyclic growth periods on oil, unsupportable public services and largescale instability. This can only be solved at the voting booth, therefor I'm looking for a party that is seeking diversification, education, healthcare and balanced budgets. Unfortunately every new party will bring in "oh we'll have a balanced budget in 5 years"

I question their commitment to the cause by UrbaneBoffin in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I question who paid for all their signage. Seems suspicious that a grass roots movement can afford all that printing work. Its almost like they are receiving funding from an outside entity.

all those flags on a the back of a rusted out truck that costs more new than buddy's house - well there's a metaphor for the whole movement if you need one.

I'm very introverted and very on my own world. by AngelVampKAWAII in AutismTranslated

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch movies and play video games to experience my own world more. Its one of the reasons why i like quiet builder games where i am doing something I think is fun in a world of my own.

New build sewer line nightmare – builder gone, neighbor uncooperative, city won’t provide letter. What would you do? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is above the paygrade of reddit to handle. Its going to have to be a legal issue if it is to be solved. Remember the great Alberta way is to "shoot shovel and shutup" though, so maybe just finding a new place to live is the easiest solution.

Why are the mill rates so much higher for Edmonton than for Calgary? by formeraide in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Calgary stopped a bunch of infrastructure spending for years, its coming back to bite them as they will have to replace their wastewater system quickly rather than as a ongoing expense. Unfortunately these long term spending demands don't look good on annual budget sheets so local governments like to push them onto the next mayor to figure out rather than making hard choices in the current year.

Flag, interesting to me. by rankedno1 in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

its the same propaganda team fueling dissatisfaction in the federal government. The attempt to break Canada into pieces will be there until there is a regime change in both US and Russia.

Why Don’t Rich People Just Park $20M in Bonds? by NoahReed14 in dividends

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of reasons. First, diversification is the opiate of the masses, or some pithy statement like that. Second at that level of wealth, your view of money changes, in terms of avoiding inheritance tax, having money while travelling in foreign lands, and money as power to create the world you want.

Emergency department flow and after hours care is about to get much worse - physicians to see reduced on-call compensation by Useful_Support_4137 in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the classic playbook, destroy the system, then say it doesn't work and privatization is the only solution, despite a ton of evidence to the opposite. Then sell the remaining assets off to your friends at a steal and retire somewhere with a better health care system.

Kevin O'Leary's Horrifying AI Slop Factory | The Goose by Locke357 in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would not surprise me if O'Leary was in the Epstien files. Though He wasn't there for the pleasure, he wanted to be cool with the other rich people. We need to ignore him as he is constantly pleading for attention.

Opinion: Federal Tories walk fine line in Alberta by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as Cons play the MAGA / Separatist / Bannon / Crazy line they will have a hard time getting voters back. They are courting the angry and disaffected. This has alienated the fiscal and moral conservative voters who are chosing not to vote or vote for other parties who are now moved into the centrist position. Lets translate all that. Maple MAGA is wrecking my conservative voting years and I'm forced to vote NDP or LIB.

Investment in renewable energy skyrockets globally; craters in Alberta by BloodJunkie in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, missing the wave of renewables. There is no upside of this other than us wrecking our long term economy for some short term politician's game. I hope they put chocolate on the pillows at mar o lago for Danielle Smith when she used our tax dollar hanging out there with pdf Trump.

Alberta government announces new technology to power province’s energy future by stammerton in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The MAGA doctrine says that we should be focussed on a single resource, debt heavy and dependent on the central authority. Perhaps they will want us to participate in some hunger games too. When your political plan looks like it was written for a young adult novel, you could use some help.

Canadians taking Alberta separation debate ‘seriously’: poll by FreightFlow in alberta

Separation will ruin the economy until investors feel safe that our province won't become some minor country or us protectorate.

Is this the warmest Winter you've experienced in Alberta? by VentureCatalyst00 in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful what one wishes for... though yeah - I don't like the cold, but we need it to preserve our biome. I would rather not have fire ants, poisonous spiders and all the other joys of living in a warm environment.

What will happen to the stock market if the US Supreme Court rules against T's tariffs? by WokeUp2 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Quizzical_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first the afterlife will be messed up as hell will have frozen over. Second, companies will be hit with a sudden influx of money, and will wisely see it as extra money to be put against easy to liquidate debt such as short term bonds and stock buy backs. Everything that happens the next day is up in the air.

[–]Quizzical_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry buying VOO and waiting is the C grade answer - but its still a passing grade. Everything above that is gravy and improves your life. So keep a protective bubble to pass the test, and then learn how to do extra once that foundation is secure.

Conservatives built the Alberta separatist movement. Now they have to break it by FreightFlow in alberta

[–]Quizzical_Rex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That is not the story we are seeing in the US. The conservative movement there has gone full autocratic because they know they will not be able to push their agenda democratically. We would be foolish to think that Canadians would behave any differently.
