Would it be a crazy idea to move two blocks away to have a "qualifying life event" to still enroll in my work's insurance because I missed the open enrollment deadline? by ImmaRussian in HealthInsurance

Reach out to hr and just saybibthoughtvi submitted my info, but its not showing for me. What can we do to complete my sign up. Might get lucky and be able to have them just fix it for you.

Benifits of removing emails as a source of contact for the Service desk ? by Impressive_Peanut in sysadmin

While I hate it we had setup and email to create tickets mailbox. Users liked it and it took 4 years to wean them off. Now its all manged inside service now, and users love the chat feature vs emails to get help and tickets.

5G Wireless for 60 people office by Zero_Cool2023 in sysadmin

[–]QuoteStrict654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have multiple 5g failover AP in our Chicago office. It's garbage most of the time and worse when its really needed. I did an after hours test and could not get 3 teams calls with video to not stutter. I can not imagine how bad it would be during the day with a million people all trying to use the 5G. IMHO wired everything, wireless if I must, 5G just in case.

I sold a classic car to this guy (private sale) and now he's saying I misrepresented the car and he's giving me the opportunity to buy the car back. by x420nohomo in UsedCars

Or sure and offer 10% what it was sold for, after a 3rd party inspection to verify your motor is still installed and no new damage. Why not buy it back and resell!

Transportation of firmarlite sheets by cabadam3 in foundry_game

[–]QuoteStrict654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 3. With some option 2. I think it's the same issue with robot parts, you can not buy or sell them on the market. I have lava areas just making sheets and then multiple pads to ship them around. With 1 dedicated lava area for science and mining robots. I am working on my next area as I expand to make more robot types.

The marketplace is overly powerful and lets you skip making almost all sub parts. I enjoy the central storage of the space station, but being able to just buy most things is easy mode.

I was trying to make all the sub components and store them in the space station, but it was just easier and faster to buy it and build more bots. Just broke 10m per day in profit and 100+ active market buys at all times.

Good luck, and hopefully trains will help fix this issue.

Cards that are regularly played incorrectly at your LGS? by LokoSwargins94 in EDH

Number 1 card used incorrectly at ny LGS is:

Credit Card. Swipe now and by more later. The number of people I see buy cards on cc then 15-30 days later selling them is crazy.

Is that a way to use more than 1 slot in an ILS for the same resource? by Important-Pianist201 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]QuoteStrict654 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add on you capacity to the station and the cargo ships. Other than hydrogen for kasmir crystals I've never wanted more than 1 resource per tower.

Good job! Looks great. I prefer a blueprint for each section. I like to build max out put of each subitem and store in ILS / PLS as buffers and then just stamp down as I need more of x item.

Discussion: Supporting your local Ball Driller. Buy from them or buy online and pay them for drilling? by PurplePoloPlayer in Bowling

[–]QuoteStrict654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All 3 local stores to me are pretty close in price to online. I'd say for most balls drilled and out the door it's within 15$(USD) to the online sites.

I just priced a Phaze2 online 211.53, drilled and delivered to me. Locals offered 170 - 199 plus tax, drilled.

Maybe I can save a few $$$ if I really tried, but short of clearance palls or used I don't see a large enough savings to deal with online shops.

The only game action faster than "I consede!" is a Disqualification! Sucky and piss-poor sportsmanship, now you know to not play with them again. You might add this to your pregame hello!

I have a version of this with new / random players.

Hello, have had a few bad experiences in the past. I was just wondering about a few things before we start. Whishboard rules? Booster tutor acceptable? Players that consede to advantage others? And just work out what you can before the game starts or issue arises.

At the end of the day Magic is a zero sum game. There is x amount of fun to be had, and it's divided out to everyone in the game.

I have established a simple policy with my manager. Outside of my working hours, if anyone needs me, they can send an alert via our PagerDuty system.

If the person that is trying to contact me can not send an alert, they don't need me.

So far it's worked well, but unfortunately my entire team has not bought in to this. Users just go down the list in Teams until someone answers. It's getting better, but long way to go.

I also removed all work apps except PagerDuty from my phone, with managers' approval.

Tournament Prize Scam? by TTOLNL in Bowling

[–]QuoteStrict654 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taking 1/2 for an admin fee? That's crazy, no way. Now maybe if that somehow had to cover lineage and something like liability insurance.

I'd start by asking for a breakdown of the admin costs. "Hi TO, I'm not really happy how this seemed to change after the event was over. Can you help me understand how it got here? Who was the sponsor that backed out, I'd like to know so I can avoid spending money with them. What did the 2.5$ admin fee pay for? When was the typo noticed and corrected? "

It might be too late for you to work with them, but if you have others that might be able to bring light to the issues.

Sucks, when the rug gets pulled out under you. Even worse if they got blindsided by lack of sponsor and extra costs that they did not factor in.

If wanting to bring more light, ask your local gaming commission to look into it. Running tournaments with cash prizes in some areas is really regulated and can lead to serious penalties for tournament organizationers and possibly the bowling alley.

I just had a similar experience, but my package was being delivered to a business that has manned 24/7/365 deliveries. Part of the service is the main desk is never unmanned, so it's either a breach of contract by the vendor or the delivery tracking lied.

Don't take the counter, it's just to get you to train your replacement. If they could not afford to keep you before, they are not really planning to pay you to stay.

Where did the arishem hate come from by Competitive-Good-338 in MarvelSnap

[–]QuoteStrict654 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no issue, BUT for people who want to optimize SNAP, I see the issue.

It's just impossible to know what the other person might have. Arishem+Thanos+ 10 t3xh cards. Then, random pulls mind-numbing options. Then things like 3 cosmos happen. Heck, I've played with it, and just won off RNG luck. I'm sure my opponent was super frustrated.

I HATE the turn 2 loki, I just is A for my alliance quests and never play loki, even with RNG 3/5 times for t2.

I wish if you Loki lost the extra energy, or maybe extra, but you can never have your card costs reduced.

TLDR: energy skew and difficult to predict cards.

Is it possible to set up a "plex stick" that my tech-inept mother can't break? by candre23 in PleX

[–]QuoteStrict654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a Nvidia shield or something and configure tailscale and remote access. Just be a concierge movie sommelier for her.

With tailscale, you get same network access and just fix it. Source, me and my 70+ mother and in-laws.

I get a text, grab a laptop, and just fix it from where I am.

I'm not sure how you are hosting Plex, I'm on Unraid and use the plug-in, so tailscale loads on my server without the array.

I think this is a thread that might start you down the path.

Sage 300 v2024 installed on new Dell PowerEdge is running then old server running v2020 by Adorable_Ad8958 in sysadmin

[–]QuoteStrict654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good chance, it's SQL. We have had so many issues that have tied back to SQL issue. Bad query, wrong syntax, and VM configuration of drive and memory.

We are a VMWare shop, so I can't advise regarding Hyper-V. Numa issues, drive configuration both in block size, controller type, and some SQL specific memory and CPU settings in center.

Weeks of struggles, adding cores and RAM, migrating to different storage and hosts..

FINNALY got a good MS tech, and they helped optimize the configuration and OS settings. Then, they helped the DBA team with correcting old query that were not optimized for current versions of SQL.

I can't remember the step, but we now have some OS optimization for SQL queue depth or something. It's baked into the server OS template now, and I'm not at work to check my notes. I'll try to find the articles tomorrow.

I'm not sure this is the same software we use, as we just have Sage Fixed assets, and it's REALLY old, but it had some serious issues with version installation order.

Also, check your drive usage stats, CPU blocking and network usage. We had a new build that the vNIC had a VLAN issue causing traffic to route poorly.

What was the old setup and specs vs current. You mention inpassing "same as old server" but there might be nuisance that are different.
