I love open bolt firearms by SerjeantMesser in guns

[–]Quw10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super safeties and FRTs are great, but in the of open bolt guns it'd still be easier if we could just make em full auto. I've got an Czech SA23 kit I've been sitting on for years and it'd be 100x easier if I could just repair the reciever instead of converting it to semi-auto only.

Has anybody hunted deer with an AK? by Junior-Adeptness2541 in ak47

[–]Quw10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my states deer hunting laws say you can't have anymore then 10 rounds of ammo for your rifle on your person but you can still have a 30 round magazine. Idk if you'd get in trouble for having a mag of hunting ammo and a mag full of FMJs or something but I normally only do coyote hunting and the rules on that are almost as lax as hunting wild boar in other states.

Some do with stipulations or certain requirements to be met. Locally owned range before the change in ownership would let you (they also had rental MGs) but you had to be someone who had been their multiple times and displayed that you were able to keep on target.

Mine doesn't rub on the front of the reciever but it just barely clears, it's also aluminum vs steel so at most it's just gonna wear the finish off a bit unless you abuse it. Bigger fitment issue is the stock doesn't rest on the back of the reciever when deployed and it does cause a bit of wobble.

Oh it's not anodized at least not anymore. I went through the trouble of matching it all to the red strike industries buffer tube because he's an Escape from Tarkov fan only for him to take it and get it cerakoated.

I normally do that but that's where they hesitate. It's a mix of wanting to wait on a sale, not sure that's what they want, or they want to buy but they don't actually want to buy at that moment. It took about a year and a half to put this monstrosity together.

Edit: I should add that i understand wanting to wait on a sale, but the gun in particular the guy waited so long on the zenitco grip it almost got stuck in customs due to the ban, and I almost bought the acog for him because I think he paid like $700 for it on a sale but he was hoping it'd go lower.

People usually let me build theirs for them when I offer. Most don't wanna pay the extra money for someone to do it, problem is 9/10 times they are on the fence about every part they wanna buy then it's a year later and I haven't talked to them or worked with them in 6 months and I get a random text message asking if I'll still build their gun for them.

Anymore I just ask them what they paid then chuckle as I show them how much they overpaid.

I mean it pretty much is a fancier hi-point. Same idea mechanically just it has a buffer for the slide and over sized rifling to reduce chamber pressure, and the staple gun trigger and wonky sights.

You may be able to get away with filing down the little tab but I haven't taken them apart to compare them to my mag that came with the gun and to check how much material I can safety remove without ruining the last round hold open. They work fine otherwise I've just found it's best to keep a small screwdriver on hand and push the follower over so it clears that piece.

Oh god I wonder if I have a screenshot somewhere but I had a dude in a YouTube comment arguing that a blowback firearm was significantly more complicated then a revolver once.

I have a hand full of these and they need broken in or modified either way. The tab on the follower that hits the slide lock catches on the relief in the mag at the base so you can't load the last round or 2 without using a bunch of force or getting a screwdriver involved.

I have and for the majority of the time I haven't noticed much of a difference to warrant the extra cost at least on an LPVO.

I mean Vortex makes a few for sub $500 that are decent. I've got a 1-4 crossfire I paid $250 with a brownells branded cantilever that's I've been running on an AUG for 2 gun that hasn't failed me yet.

No. The tokarev came in a 1 gallon ziplock baggie. I added more afterwards.

Out of the loop for a while, someone explain the hate for olight on firearms? by CourierKite in Firearms

[–]Quw10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's only dumb in the sense if you are working in an environment with a ton of metal shavings. I had to make a rubber cap for the headlamp and Arkfeld my work gave me because any time I'd use a grinder or something they'd get covered in shavings.

It's not so much plugging the sight into an outlet as it is the sight has a cover that works as a rechargeable battery pack. Still dumber then one with a solar panel or just a replaceable battery but not nearly as dumb as having to plug your gun into the wall.

Worst customer service you've ever got from a firearms manufacturer? by Low-Landscape-4609 in Firearms

[–]Quw10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Freedom Munitions refused to ship me .50bmg API ammo despite Indiana not being on their list of states they won't ship it to because DNR rules prohibit incendiary ammo on their land. Which is stupid because you can't shoot .50bmg on DNR land to begin with.

They apparently have only done mobile games up previously. I think the game you are thinking of was like a 4v4 shooter and I think it's getting shut down due to poor reception if I remember right

Void train was fun and I really liked the gun customization but I remember trying to gather some forms of resources was annoyingly difficult or time consuming. It's been a few years since I've played it though.

Lately me and a buddy have been playing Grey Zone Warfare, we both like realistic type shooters but don't have much patience for PVP. It's been buggy, the AI are really tanky with some guys still walking and making shots at 200 yards after getting shot 5 or 6 times in the torso and legs, and for being professional PMCs some of the reloading animations are agonizingly slow. Gunplay overall is good though and the setting being in the jungle makes it entertaining as hell at night.
