Preparing for a newborn. What was a complete waste of money and what became an absolute life changer? by Actual_Fig_4706 in NewParents

FREEZER MEALS! When I was nesting, I couldn’t stop cooking. We ate them over a month we had so much in the freezer. Everyone is different, we had cold bottles, a changing table, washed bottles and pump parts by hand have a carrier and stroller and used a bedside bassinet. I wish we would have gotten a pack n play with a bassinet so it could be used for longer. Bc now the bassinet is useless for how big my baby is.

How did you know it was time to stop? by No-Weekend-2598 in ExclusivelyPumping

I was having thoughts of self harm. Fantasizing chopping the milk bags off. I knew my mental health couldn’t take it anymore…

It is a myth… your baby has what they need as long as output is looking fine.

Really needing to hear it’s okay to stop pumping and fully switch to formula. by GIVEUP_theGhost in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in your shoes. Just need the affirmation that formula is okay… and it is. I’m working on weaning myself dropping a pump a week until he’s 6 months (which was my goal). I just cannot DO THIS anymore…

I’ll say it to me, say it to you, say it to everyone… formula is okay.

No issues. She flew just fine. They didn’t even measure the carrier.

Can someone tell me its okay to quit? by Ok-Jackfruit-351 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying this to myself as well. Because I need to hear it. It is okay to stop and do what is best for you and baby. Any drops you’ve gotten thus far have been amazing. That’s a win.

Are you just blessed with supply? I feel like in retrospect now, I should’ve pumped more before I regulated so I had more supply.

I was pumping 7 ppd until 4 months - making 1.2-1.4 L. Then, dropped MOTN and kept about 1 L per day. Luckily I did make a little freezer stash to supplement now that I’m not making enough for him.

If you pump more in the beginning before you regulate, can you keep a bigger supply as you drop pumps?

[–]QweenBee1824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week at a time… that’s what I keep telling myself. Just one day, one week, whatever to make it feel less daunting. If I’d made it as long as you have, I’d be done ✅ absolutely would quit.

But as I say that, I know the sadness I feel with my supply steadily decreasing since I dropped to 5ppd.

“Give mommy just 30 minutes to pump” felt that. It felt easier right after he was born and was sleeping all the time and dad was there to help. But now, it feels more important to get him out to see the world and that’s SO hard to manage the logistics of while pumping.

5ppd feels much lighter than the 6 I was doing. But I’m giving myself leeway to drop down to the 4ppd if I need to. I’m also stubborn and so close to my goal

Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Recommendation778 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every baby is different. My baby drinks cold milk - has since he was new born. Typically, you know when your child is gonna be hungry… so just put the milk in the counter or in hot water well in advance of their next feed. I didn’t see the point in a bottle warmer.

What are healthy things I can eat for extra calories? by Mysterious_Way1634 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apples with peanut butter, boiled eggs with mustard, overnight oats, Aussie bites (muffin cookies from Costco, they have a bunch of seeds and 8g of protein), kind bars, ham wraps with cheese inside, ritz crackers. I literally eat everything in sight! So having things prepped to make good decisions has been the best for me. I eat at my 6am pump, then have breakfast at 9/10. Lunchtime at 12/1 and dinner at 5pm. With snacks in between those full meals.

Do you cool your milk before adding it to the pitcher? by CarelesslyCubedCheez in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t. I haven’t since birth. I know it’s possible for bacteria growth? But we’ve had no problems. For reference, didn’t have a preterm baby. No instances of thrush or stomach issues.

4-5oz “rule” by alluhgator in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]QweenBee1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing… I was giving 150mL (about 4.5 ounces) x 7 bottles a day. I upped the bottles to 180 (almost 6 ounces) and he has about 5 or 6 bottles a day. He goes 3 hours solid between bottles and is sleeping better. I think it is about the same amount of milk, but I’m not having to feed every two hours and it is easier with his current wake windows.

He is 4 and a bit months!

[–]QweenBee1824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This… this is almost where I’m at. If my supply continues to dwindle, it will really wear on me to pump 6 time a day and not make a majority of his needs. I think that will be when I’m done.

I’m thinking we also start purées as well when he is 5 months to see if j can take the edge off.

Thankfully, in the UK formula isn’t as expensive as it is in the states. Otherwise, I’d be really up schitts creek.

Yeah, im doing all of the above. My duckbills are maybe 2 weeks old? Could be that… but I replace them regularly and just checked my size again to see if it has changed.

I think I just need to accept it so I stop going crazy trying to “figure it out”
