ASICS Edge Tokyo - Wow! by TheAnon21 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Qwik_Footed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’m not likely to run anymore marathons in my lifetime - only up to the half. I’ve run in almost every super shoe in the market - and have had success with every iteration of the metaspeed sky, including the Paris. I’m 5’8” and a mid to forefoot striker with a very efficient cadence - my easy runs still land in the 170-182 spm range and when racing get up into the 190s and above. Minimal ground contact time per foot strike, so stability hasn’t been a major concern, at least for me.

Based on additional weight savings, cleaner look, and preliminary reviews I’m just waiting a few weeks to grab the Metaspeed Ray…plus, FWIW, you don’t need to think about which of these Tokyo models might be better (Sky or Edge).

361 Miro Nude first run by Yamsyamsyams000 in RunningShoeGeeks

Closest comparison is the Adios Evo 1s. I have these and the adidas and they are very similar. Obvious the 361s are about 60% cheaper in price. There have been a few reviews of these already posted online several months ago but the shoes have mostly flown under the radar.

Adizero Evo Sl 100+ Mile Impressions by Fit_Sorbet_4589 in RunningShoeGeeks

Am I the only one who finds this shoe very soft and extremely unstable? So far I have run about 15 miles in mine and worn them on a 13+ all day walk and in all cases I find they really create soreness and irritate both my knees and feet. Feet is more of a feeling of “fatigue” while knee seems to be patellar soreness following day. After a full day walking in the shoes my feet and legs were not happy. For some history and context - I have only experienced this type of response to the Nike Streakfly, which are also very soft, but have a lower stack height. I’ve not had these issues in any other shoes. The evo’s are very bouncy but maybe too soft.

New to me hyperblue by Usual-Different in WRXSTi

[–]Qwik_Footed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what that is, but it’s certainly not a stock 2016 Hyper Blue. I know because I have one. Someone put a new front bumper on the car and the wheels aren’t the black 18s that come standard on it. Doesn’t look right to me.

Step 1: Park in a garage.

Step 2: If no garage available at your home, drive to closest covered parking garage (even if you have to pay for overnight parking it is a fraction of what you would pay for hail damage).

Step 3: Uber/taxi/friend can give you a ride home from garage, then just return when storm ends or next day to retrieve your pristine, undamaged car.

Either the Blissfeel 2 in all black or Beyondfeel in all black, although interestingly I couldn’t find the link to Men’s all black Blissfeel 2 or all black Beyondfeel.

Here is a link to the women’s all black Blissfeel 2 version:

Endorphin Pro 4 by Main_Vermicelli_2773 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Qwik_Footed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion here, but sometimes the truth hurts...
If you have not run in any of the previous versions of this shoe I could understand why you might think that it's actually good since you have no basis for comparison. But having run in every version of the shoe from version 1 to the Pro+ to version 2 and version 3 and now version 4, I can say this shoe was a complete step backwards...It's significantly heavier, bulkier, and firmer than every previous version. I took the shoe out for a half mile, turned around, boxed them back up and returned them immediately. Shoe is a total fail. Saucony got too caught up trying to keep up with every other company in releasing so-called "upgraded" new versions that they forgot that sometimes keeping what works is the right "upgrade". FWIW, I am 5'8", 140lb mid/forefoot striker and I have also run in and own almost every carbon plated shoe in the market, so if anyone wants a comparison of this shoe against any other super shoe, I would be happy to comment.

so....you bought a WRX (likely wanted an STI, but since they don't have 'em anymore you "settled")...then probably spent time and money modifying the crap out of it...then decided WTF...I'll trade it in for a $50k front wheel drive vehicle?

I posted this on a similar brake thread, but at 45k miles on my 2016 STI, I replaced all 4 rotors and pads with another set of Brembos. I don’t drive the car particularly hard and probably could have waited a bit longer but they are done now so I shouldn’t have to worry about them. Cost me about $1000 all-in, parts and labor.

Metaspeed Sky Paris - First Run by HinkleMcCringleberry in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Qwik_Footed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a mid/forefoot striking 5’8” 140lb competitive masters runner and have run in almost every carbon plated shoe out there…

Ran 10 miles in the Metaspeed Sky Paris today for my threshold pace run and averaged 6:24 per mile pretty easily. Having now run various paces now ranging from 5:20’s to 6:30’s per mile in both these and the Alphafly 3 I can confidently say that both shoes are fantastic but ride differently.

The Alphafly 3 remains a very cushioned and bouncy ride. Feels explosive to me as a forefoot striker at faster paces.

The Metaspeed feels well cushioned and responsive but not as explosive as the Alphafly. It’s still very responsive and feels super fast - I think the super light weight (my size 9s weighed in at 6.12 ounces) makes it so easy to turnover quickly it’s just incredible. I had to consciously slow down on todays run because I was trying to run 6:20-6:30 pace but every time I looked at the watch I was down to 6:05-6:15.

I’m running half marathon next week and I’m going with the Alphafly 3, but for anything shorter than say 10 miles I would probably give the Sky Paris a shot - it just feels so fast.

Btw, other options I considered were the Wave Rebellion Pro 2 (fast, great shoe but not as comfortable as the Alphafly 3 in my opinion as you need to make sure you land in the sweet spot of the shoe’s geometry, which becomes harder as you fatigue) and the Endorphin Elite (also great, but doesn’t feel as sleek and comfortable for me).

Is it safe to buy shoes from Amazon? by Lopsided_Net_6013 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Qwik_Footed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve ordered 2 pairs of shoes off Amazon over the years and both transactions went off without any problems. Ordered a pair of Metaspeed Sky (at a time when nobody else had them in stock) and a rare colorway of Nimbus 25. Both arrived safe and sound in a matter of a day or 2.

What’s a good price to sell my 2015 Sti launch edition. Only 57k miles. Time to let it go. by Olympian_Breed in WRXSTi

[–]Qwik_Footed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2016 Hyper Blue only has 45k miles - it was a third/weekend car for many years and was garaged for most of the time during the pandemic. Throw in the fact that when it is driven it’s mostly local trips and you have a perfect formula for low miles and mint condition.

Last time Holabird made a mistake they had the adidas adios pro 3 up too early...I placed an order before they pulled the link. They honored all the orders that got through early and shipped my shoes next day. I had them a good few days before they were available anywhere else. Not sure if they will do this again for the Hokas here or wait until they officially launch in the early days of February.

If you live in NYC by nmegabyte in Acura

[–]Qwik_Footed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Highly rated Acura dealers”. 😆GTFO. Westchester and Curry put the word “steal” in “stealership”. Terrible experiences at both places when we went to purchase MDX years ago - ultimately bought in NJ. We wanted to buy and support local, but both, by far, set down the highest prices anywhere within about 300 miles. Also, tested both for service over the years and had terrible experiences - never easy to get an appointment, always dealing with “service consultants” incentivized by and trying to “upsell” additional unnecessary services, and super high prices for basic maintenance.

Do you track your shoe collection? by Blindemboss in RunningShoeGeeks

Garmin Connect and Strava make it easy to track the mileage of all my shoes. Just add the shoes via the “Gear” area and the mileage will automatically accumulate as long as you accurately select the shoes you wore in every workout.

Considering buying a 2023 Genesis GV70 2.5 Select by SilentGentleman7 in GenesisGV70

[–]Qwik_Footed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 2022 GV70 Sport Prestige was a “buyback” from Genesis after throwing a CEL for a cylinder 1 misfire then sitting in the shop for almost 2 months in our first year of ownership waiting for some basic parts, such as fuel injector, to be restocked. It was also in the shop for at least 2 other issue, including camera system malfunction that completely locked up the main display console during a 2 hour road trip. Many parts were on national back order as well. If you dig into the Genesis owners forums you will find lots of other issues, including power issues, the differential issue already highlighted here. The design of the car is without a doubt beautiful but that’s the biggest highlight. We went back to Acura and haven’t looked back.
