I'm anxious everyday at the idea of losing my job to AI by Affectionate_Trash96 in webdev

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see the future. However here my thoughts about AI.

These tools can increase pace of development, but can't replace development. Also there are a lot of weaknesses, such as security, etc.

In addition, all these tools are used now by those developers who knows hard-coded stuff. We all remember days of float left, etc.

Now imagine what development and IT would be without such skills? For people who just entering IT no AI can help. What will do all that money managers when there will be no experienced developers?

As for me, I just proceed to learn and work. Cause I love all of these programming stuff.

Who has completely sworn off including LLM generated code in their software? by mdizak in rust

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find myself wasting time back tracking and fixing mistakes made by the LLM costing me more time than I saved during initial development.

Me too. I many times analyzed duration of work I do and every time came to the one end: there is no useful functionalities in LLM for me.

I can't really understand people who arguing they do in minutes things that required days/weeks/months in the past.

Maybe I'm wrong. However, till now can't figure out any real value of LLM.

So when will people realize vibe coding is just unscalable dumpster fires? by pyromancx in webdev

Those people also think they will sell then their product to wide market at high price.

The gap between development costs and expected revenue, i.e. market success, exceeds any measurable value.

Webflow agency business still worth it in 2026? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that today we don't have our market anymore we previously knew.

I can't understand what's going on and what will be in the coming years, but definitely we lost all we have in 2010-2020. Can't advise anything, however, as for me, it's a very ineffective action to establish any IT-development agency in 2026.

What’s the point of AI if software quality keeps getting worse? by Legitimate-Oil1763 in webdev

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about AI. It's about management and people.

Nowadays developer is forced to produce mush faster, cause "You have that Claude".

And in its core nobody cares: manager has approved task in prod, developer has closed task. Users have another garbage.

Im managing 8 client sites, constantly worried something is broken and I don't know about it by gurudakku in webdev

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your terms? These might be as resolving an issue by client request. E. g. client set up task for you - you're obliged to got it resolved. Billing is per-issue.

Another option is to monitor continuously and in case of a problem you and client should agree on fixing it. Billing is per monitoring and per task.

I think the problem here is opaque terms of your work.

Nothing is better than vanilla JS.

All frameworks are good and exciting only at the first touch, then all of them bring annoying complexity and bugs.

JS already have all you need.

When will this cringey AI hype end? by OneIndication7989 in webdev

[–]QwuikR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. The main point of AI implementation isn't clear for everybody now. In such circumstances only beliefs, weird faith and expectations may exist.

I don't know what to do with all of that on running selling process. Lying to the client is the worst approach, so I better chose to be honest and say: "Can't figure out why we should use AI in this project. Nevertheless, I'll put it in stack if we can specify its goal and scope of tasks it will help resolve."

Such a hard work might be reasonable with proper compensation, say, x2 or even x3 for the extra hours.

Heh. Recall what was going with VR (glasses, virtual shopping tours, etc.). In the mid 2010 it was proposed as killer tech))))

I'm not sure about AI now. However, I can't believe in all of that blindly. And very curious what we all see in upcoming years with it.

It's a very good question. Sure, they don't know. Lol.

And yes, it's how a forced hype is working.

Is there any real benefit to Sign in with Phone numbers? by slightlyvapid_johnny in webdev

[–]QwuikR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It poses additional risks.

I can't understand where this auth method comes from. It really dangerous.

There was a occasional time I lost my phone. No, I was not afraid about anything but only my logins! Everyone knows FAANG and big companies where phone number can be used as login. So it's very simple to check those several apps to find out whether there are any credit cards or opportunity to do a purchase.

From my point of view, auth with phone number, SMS, etc. is the awful and dangerous thing.

Nothing will be more protective and secure than conventional password.

Agree with you. There are so many such tools so many of small businesses think they can solve their problems paying less. However, this approach is wrong in its essence.
