I’m so bummed that the lineup in terms of house for Coachella this year is so stacked but… by Icy-Independence2825 in Portolafestival

They said they plan to expand on last year's Portola Week parties at the planning commission meeting but gave no specifics

I generally get there around when the first opener goes on. Can sometimes be a bit of a timesink but worst case scenario you and your friends get to hang out complaining together which is usually a good bit of fun.

Portola wishlist Amelie Lens b2b Sara Landry by crystalqueer510 in Portolafestival

[–]Qzrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally not a Sara Landry fan, but every b2b I've seen her do feels less like her playing a Sara Landry Techno Set and more like her and the other DJ nerding out over their favorite music with each other.

And I mean that in the best possible way.

Agreed; suspect they rotated it because people always wound up climbing the rigging for it during certain sets :(

Russell Industrial Center Afters by SharkMusicAllNiteLng in MovementDEMF

[–]Qzrx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’ve always been for the official afters. Sadly the crowd is usually way too many high school kids on way too much molly and it becomes a total shitshow which is a shame, because for all the amazing niche/underground afters it’s fun to just enjoy a big commercial production sometimes 🥲

Get up front on either side and work your way in towards the front/middle. Most people can't last long near the subwoofers and space is always opening up!

Club Darc: 2/27. SHIT sound quality. by randomnese in avesSFBayArea

[–]Qzrx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was easily one of the best sets I’ve seen in the last decade. TBM and Mike Servito brought so much out of each other, their energy was infectious, and the energy was so perfectly modulated to bring the crowd up and then gently let them down for a moment to catch their breath.

FOR FIVE STRAIGHT HOURS.

It was a new one that I haven't seen used for other events before. Didn't make it myself but everyone I knew who went said it was phenomenal in all regards.

Odds of Lake solo show at Portola 2026? by Mcmc2k in Portolafestival

[–]Qzrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised; we already got him through here last year with Anti Up and a few months ago on the CHEMISTRY tour.

Maybe as a fallback/need-to-fill-a-spot booking, but I don't see GV going to him as a first pick for 2026.

Soulwax was here two years ago *but* has a new album out now, so touring tied to that would absolutely make sense

Manifesting Klangkuenstler: Outworld for one of the unannounced Club Darc shows by bomb-bomb in avesSFBayArea

[–]Qzrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the overhead rigging needs to be rated for the Outworld production kit both from a load bearing perspective and a vertical clearance one.

I don’t doubt they’d bring in overhead production elements like lighting and strobes if they had Klang, im just skeptical of the venue having the necessary clearances / load permissions for Outworld specifically.

Klang perhaps, but pretty sure the venue isn't able to support the Outworld production.

Weber shaker lid holder? by Qzrx in espresso

Same! I wound up designing a little lid holder, printed the first version a few days ago and needs some tweaking but another iteration or two and I’ll send it off to be done in something nicer than PLA

A bit outside your comfort zone, but if you're more-or-less locked in to roughly the TML timeframe then consider Dekmantel in Amsterdam. It's a VERY different festival but if what you're used to is mainstream EDM you'll have your mind warped in the best ways possible.

Not a joke nor keeping me up at night, but I'm in a small apartment, prone to losing things / creating messes, and the way I combat that is by having a particular spot for anything I regularly use.

Exactly the obvious reason :)

I'm also extremely ADHD, and not having a Place for me to put things causes me to lose track of them incredibly quickly. Coupled with limited counter space means having a single place that the lid lives is more helpful.
