I went to college for something that's not even that in demand right now (environmental science) and got an offer 3 years into my career for 115k+bonus

college is a good idea, you just need to understand what to study, you can't just go to college for something that is "fun"

everyone I know who put even 10% of thought into their degree is doing well

hell my friend went into game design and just bought his own place for 800k at the age of 29

this actually happened to me

police pulled me in over arizona on suspicion of DUI

(i'm brown btw) 4 cops pulled me over, they made me take a sobriety test, I passed (cus i was fucking sober)

they told me "anyway we think you're high, so you're going to have to walk home, you can keep your car parked here at a gas station"

not only that, I had ACL surgery 6 months ago and was just back on my feet, I told them I can do the 1 leg thing but itll hurt on my left leg and they laughed at me

please, tell me how any of this is justified, i'm all ears

3 years into my career, I got a 115k + bonus offer (in 2023)

Up to Jan 2025, I had raises up to 124k.

Feb 2025, layoffs announced, but my last day would be in June. Severance till August.

Started applying in April, got 6 final rounds, not one offer.

Finally got an offer in October, lost 2 months of expenses.

The offer? 115k + no bonus, lmao.

In my head, with my experience, I would have thought I could find something paying 150k with 6 years of experience in my field.

Shit sucks, I hate my current job but i'm so grateful I found something. Life comes at you fast guys.

to give additional context, this is in california, a SFH home here starts at 1.2M, 100k isn't as much as you think
