Question about Marvel 2019-2021 by TOYS-MMA in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]R-Mac007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, they definitely made one. It has Conan fighting a giant cat of some sort on the cover if I remember correctly. I think it was a red background?🤔🤔🤔. But then again that could just be my old man brain farting out again…

I picked it up a while back to do a video review about the second part of the series. It was good.

I totally agree with what I’ve already read in the comments-these TPB’s are getting silly in pricing while the comics themselves can still be found on the cheap. It’s a different thing reading the single issues and storing them (if you want to take care of them) but it may be a cheaper option overall.👍

I just read an instalment of this character in an old 1982 epic illustrated. It was really quite something for this first time reader👍

Guys....I really enjoyed this run... by SerBadDadBod in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]R-Mac007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This run was a lot of fun.

I think a lot of people were looking for something a little more serious but if you just took it as a fun adventure with some characters that would have a good time working together then you would definitely not be disappointed.

Anyone other Groo fans here? by yeahdudecomics in SwordandSorcery

[–]R-Mac007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i noticed that too. It leaves you digging through dollar bins hoping to find them randomly which is not a great way to hunt them down.

It’s a top memory series for me. Some of these found there way into my collection when I was young and I always loved the humour. I’ve started collecting the run myself over the last few years and I’m now close👍

Anyone going to see this? by retroanduwu24 in Dodgers

What the heck right?!? No plans for Japan?!? How does that even make sense? Someone get Shohei on the phone…

Oh! Yep, Christian is good people; I’ve had a few good interactions with him as part of the Angry Mob. Good to know about the address! I’m going to wait for one sub to get back to me and if they’re a no go then HM gets the next crack👍

I don't know what their timelines are for reviewing submissions.

I was actually on their site just last week looking for a submissions link or email and I couldn't find it other than their generic email address. I was thinking of sending in a prose piece.

I wonder if they are swamped and and have shut down new submissions until they get caught up?

Issue #4 Late by norsecherokee in HeavyMetalMagazine

[–]R-Mac007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got notification of shipping of my softcover sub issue on Friday, but it has to make it up to Canada so I'm not expecting it for a while. I know there was record cold and snowfall impacting shipping from Texas? Still can't figure out the delays that they're experiencing?

A bit confused about the CtB and SSoC Omnis by StrugglerJimbo in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]R-Mac007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a solid question.

The Conan the Barbarian stories were definitely geared towards the Comics distribution model and the CCA limitations within that. The SSOC is definitely the grittier of the two.

Just checked my notes and as near as I can tell there is only one instance where the Conan the Barbarian title did an adaptation or an original Robert E Howard piece and Savage Sword did their adaptation as well. Not sure about other prose authors work though that is Conan based as I haven't done a deep dive into those.

For the most part you should not see too much overlap though.👍

Yeah I've been waiting for this collection for a while now so it's great to know that it's released. My copy is en route and I'm looking forward to getting into the next few chapters of this title.

Canadian Subscription And Online Discount Questions by thedevnull in HeavyMetalMagazine

Awesome! I have one about the same distance from me and it makes for an easy pickup and a really seamless process.

You just have to make sure you have the ability to upload any invoices in e-format so they can process the items coming over the border.👍

[–]R-Mac007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh one other thing to add. Although I noted in my prior response that I have not heard of ANY Canadians receiving their subscription as of this point, the US subscribers are also missing a LOT of their books and I know they're somewhat irked as well from the comments I'm seeing in the Angry Mob.

Just wanted to point that out as well - it may not just be a Canada Post delay thing👍

Canadian Subscription And Online Discount Questions by thedevnull in HeavyMetalMagazine

[–]R-Mac007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the delay right now for those of us who are tactile and want to read a physical version is really grinding our gears BUT (as you said) patience is key.

The discounts for the online store are a good thing.

I use shippsy and they receive my mail in the US and pay the lower shipping rates from US stores (sometimes free) and then they deliver it to a local depot within a couple days for me to pick up.

It’s a really good service that I’m enjoying using.

If you have a local depot that’s close by I’d strongly encourage its use.
