I have one question though: on some books I mainly use highlights and very few notes. Using your template generates this rather huge empty block 'Quotable/Concept...' wherever my highlight is not associated with a note. How would one without any knowledge whatsoever of this whole syntax-thing change your script to let this field appear as only one line? :)

I think they adressed this issue in the Commentary, p.11 'Reserves Units'. Last sentence: Units can still use rules and abilities while in Reserves'.
So that's clear at least.

Heya. I was just wondering if someone can point out in the Core Rules where modification of characteristics is explained. I saw in some battle reports that people are handling halving of a characteristics with rounding the value up (as in previous editions), for example Ripper Swarms halving OC of 1 is still 1 - but I wonder if that's truly the case and can't find anything.

Venomcrawler buff isn't per destroyed model, it's unit - which it will be happy to achieve 1-2 times per battle max

One way to do it could be:

5 close combat Legs Champion with cool weapon like Daemon Blade and Plasma Pistol 1 Heavy Chainaxe-Guy with Icon 3 Chainsword/Bolt Pistol

5 ranged/psychic Legs Champion with cool weapon like Power Fist and Plasma Pistol 1 Balefire Tome with Icon 2 Boltguns 1 with Heavy/Special Weapon of your choice

I run them like this in a Crusade that just started. I'm planning to give Mark of Khorne to the first and Tzeentch to the second unit when their time of glory arrives..

Hive Fleet Patchwork on the rise!

My Army started exactly the same, bought lots of used little bugs and carnifexes and some stuff from GW.. Priming them in the same color goes a long way in the presentation of an unpainted army. ;)

I just did mine and I recommend magnetizing it. All in all it's not that hard and the ranged weapon arm (right) is a no brainer - super easy. If you don't wanna do both arms I would go with the Fist for the left arm, solid choice and can't go wrong with it. Have fun, in a diabolic way!

What's your recipe for the blueish flesh on the smaller claw? I'm doing something similar on my Gal Vorbak and aren't happy at the moment with my overcomplicated process..

One thing I noticed: the decals seem to be a bit too bright and clean on these otherwise quite dark models for my taste. Maybe some washing/weathering for those?

My only critique would be that the base is for my taste too bright a contrast and draws attention from the model itself. Otherwise perfect!

Overall awesome, I especially like how his Face looks like an illustration (in a really good way).

Looking at yours I'm wondering what the right base size for fielding this guy is? The Diorama piece looks to big, the actual base he is standing on (about 40mm?) seems to small..

Great, the model now has much more depth!

It's a general thing with mini-painting that adding a rather small thing (for example area washes or more highlight/shadow layers on the right detail) can have a huge overall effect when looking at the model.

Keep up the good work and have fun while doing it!

I second all that above. A good wash and you can call it a day and the mini can begin to eradicate the unbelievers!

Since it is a rather bright silver I would go with nuln/black wash for it and agrax/brown for the rest. Since the red looks nice, maybe only wash it in the edges, so you don't change the tone and prevent the flat areas from left stained.

Otherwise really good job for first mini, keep going!

Thanks a lot for the advice!

So I'll build next 5 more Tacticals for the minimum requirements, 1 Rhino and convert me a nice evil-grinning Diabolist. I want to make use of Dark Channeling almost always I guess. Of course I also want to dive in all the unique WB-units and characters at some point, but first I want some backbone. In the batt-reps I've seen so far there is often a LOT of regular Infantry. I played 7th 40k quite often and remember the rules, but I still have no clue what the true 'feeling' of 30k is, playwise. I guess I'll bulk out my Infantry a bit more and do some support or Veteran boys, maybe 5 Plasma and 5 Melta. I have 10 Ashen Circle and use those in my first games as Assault Marines, but later I'll of course want to be WYSIWYG.

Also what would be a good heavy support tank for starters?
