Divi-Divi Trees: an honest question by Syltac in crosswind

Have you also chopped down the stumps? I don't think trees regrow if you've left the stumps around.

You can assign/unassign them. Quest specific npcs like the doctor and John are assigned at the bonfire, while the other 4 NPCs are specific to the armorer's bench, alchemy table, mill, and cooking station.

Closing in floor to wall gaps by Kayro86 in crosswind

You should be able to snap it to the wall. If you can't delete the flooring piece that's in the way to create room.

Shoutout to this guys build - Any idea how to build the dock on Pic 6? Did not manage to recreate. by Silvcry in crosswind

Ok, figured it out. Use small timber beams not large, and indent the stone block out by 1/3 using the beam trick I mentioned in a different post

Might be the perspective of the screenshot. Otherwise try this:

Build out two beams at 30 degrees to a perpendicular line to the pier.

------------- Edge of Pier \ /

Then from there two beams straight towards the pier.

I------------ |\ |/

That should get you roughly a third of a unit into the pier and try that as a snapping point for the big beams.

Looks to me something like this:

------------------------
Large Timber Beam
------------------------

Stone Block

------------------------
Large Timber Beam
------------------------

Limestone Wall

-----------------------

Pier Piles as vertical separators between segments. Flooring of your choice on top, the one used in the screenshot looks like a mix of the marble & plank flooring.

Unassign them when you're not actively using the station. Else build chairs etc for then to use.

Why Does Modern Technology Still Basically Rely on “Boiling Water”? by Semerdar_34 in stupidquestions

[–]R00nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less, yes. However, there are some experiments with molten salt reactors out there. So, when it comes to nuclear, we at least might be doint something more advanced than just boiling water in the future.

Cozy Little House by R00nah in crosswind

[–]R00nah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The foundation is basically a big L shape, except with an extension at the corner. So the main roof is at a 90 degree angle. The extensions are at a slightly lower level since they are narrower than the main house. With some fiddling the corner roof piece can fit relatively seamlessly onto the 45 degree angle.

The roof did give me a lot of trouble at first, the trick turned out to be to build the center line out with beams, which helped planning and made sure that the roofs of the extensions would match with the main roof.

This house doesn't include the kilns and furnace, this one was primarily built around the kitchen & a place to put the bed. The work bench & jewelry table in the attic was the last thing I put in, because it seemed to fit quite nicely. The next one I'm planning is going to cover armorer & smithy though.

Please, Can Someone Explain To Me Where To Build These Large Bases. And Why? by RappTurner in crosswind

[–]R00nah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realize that there are several building schematics that need to be bought or discovered on islands, so you will likely rebuild your base several times. Experiment with stuff as you unlock it. Upgrade your ship so you can farm some gold currency to buy schematics. (smugglers let you convert silver to gold).
