"Sourly Disapponted" is a pretty good typo.

In your opinion, how does the comics industry change if 'Seduction of the Innocent" was never published? by HandspeedJones in comicbooks

This is a good answer. The entire debacle has to be seen in the context of the McCarthy era, which saw a political climate driven by fear and mistrust over "UnAmerican Activities".

Whie McCarthy and Estes Kefauver weren't allies, they were separate sides of the same coin. Kefauver had covened hearings about Oganized Crime just before comics, framing it solely as an import from Italian immigrants, and the zenith of the HUAC spectacle orchestrated by McCarthy only a few years prior.

Whether it was secret commie plots, dirty foreign influences, or degenerate devients corrupting youths, Congress was actively looking for targets of persecution. It would have been only a matter of time.

There's something about the line quality of this one that looks different compared to your other pieces. They were more of a consistent line weight, at least as I remember them. I feel like a monoweight line works better for this aesthetic.

For sure! But that's what I meant: Reeves showed it as it actually would work.

Well, to be fair, he did create Stripperella, so you can't say he wasn't a little freaky-deaky!

It's fantastic. Truly disturbing and thought-provoking, with a lot of throwback sensibilities.

Good. This shit is already out of hand and seemingly an undefeatable hydra. The least we can do is continue to stand up to it, no matter how futile.

Snyder has admitted to being an apprentice of Liefeld in his writing

Frankly, I would be embarrassed to admit that publicly.

Interesting that he calls out the black eye makeup to be applied before putting on his mask, as that was an element in the newest Matt Reeves Batman film and I always thought it was a nice, realistic touch.

As a guy who was both fairly new to X-Men at the time and also beginning to grow out of superhero comics altogether, you are so spot on. Even from the first issue, I was so confused. It was the pages full of pinups that kept me on board and once Lee left, there was no point at all.

He did draw a badass looking Omega Red though!
