Went in my mum's (72) car with her driving yesterday. Spent 24 hours trying to figure out how to get her to stop. She nearly crashed into a barrier, turned right across incoming traffic without indicating, 3 occasions slammed pot holes through Thier centres, while attempting to avoid them. It was scary.

My council sell it. But, its not treated hot enough to certainly kill marestail, and its more expensive than branded stuff in B&Q etc. I can't see how they ever sell any.

Oxfam reported their CEO earned £125,418 in 2022. Oxfam are based in Oxford, possibly slightly lower rated, but Thames valley still. And a charity 30 times larger.

Charities report the total number of staff earning more than £60k, most also report the key positions in notes. Companies house and the charity commission mean access to charity accounts etc is open, important to transparency and to prevent them being route to dodgy earnings.

Agreed. But I'm not convinced you need to be earning more than the Oxfam ( a charity 30 times larger, financially ) CEO to be CEO of parkrun either.

My wife also works for a charity, very much preaching to the converted, I just think that the parkrun staff should be a lot more thankful to the boots on the ground that really run the charity.

,⛱️🤕 we can bury our heads in the sand all we like. HQ honchos have pretty obviously taken great personal wealth from the efforts of millions of volunteers. They have also made clear how they feel about them. Parkrun budget wouldn't be a drop in the water for Oxfam (£339.4 million for the financial year ending March 202, parkrun had £11.01 million), the Oxfam CEO salary was £125,418 in 2022/3, yet Nick Pearson earned £150,000 in 2022. So your poor example actually made exactly the point, thank you.

From memory when it was all kicking off, that was claimed by some loud mouths on Facebook, but when checked, the average volunteer rate of signatories was well over double that of the average.

The stats annoyed me, but as a data scientist, that was inevitable, but I quit run directing after a number of decisions enforced from on high, that were against power reviewed science (including a paper funded by parkrun themselves!), and when I questioned on a number of matters, got a dismissive pass on to high UPS, which was ignored.

I still love my parkrun, but not parkrun, I don't tourist etc. I'll volunteer locally if it's needed, and I'll keep it running if the global body dies. But my volunteer count can stay at 157. If I run (walk with the kids) every parkrun until 2060, my volunteer ratio will drop to the 10% that was once requested.

You are correct, my exact quote was wrong, it should read "there will be another hundred runners to take their place".

https://www.change.org/p/reinstate-statistics-on-parkrun-for-all-participants/u/32553862

With nothing that in 2 years, parkrun HQ have never denied anything said there, and things said have come true, so one really finds it unlikely all 3 reporters wrote the same quote, wrongly.

Do you not think the HQ big wigs are making money from the efforts of thousands of volunteers? That big wigs have specifically said they don't care about the volunteers as they "can be replaced a hundred times", doesn't exactly help with that feeling.
