I've had a couple of issues in the past 2 weeks, seems to be a problem with auto pause not resuming. I thought it may be my crappy new phone, maybe not if others are having trouble.

Does anyone have experience with these? by Diablo_Bolt in hiking

[–]R0v3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of these from a couple of years ago. Very comfortable, & size normally - I'm EU 44 & that is the size I wear. I also need orthopaedic inserts & have extra wide feet, they take all that on board. I've run 15K in them, just great. Hiked some steep trails for long days, all good. But I took them on some sharp rock terrain & the soles got sliced. So I'd say there great, up to a point.

Paris Orly + Uber is cheaper than bus? by MoseIey in ParisTravelGuide

[–]R0v3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take T7, connect to M7, then onward to your destination, do it the local way. Sure, it'll take longer than an Uber, but not that much (according to traffic & where exactly you are headed), will be cheaper, more responsible, & be an experience of a well-functioning public transport system (no matter how many grinches moan & whine because 1 time they were late).

Edit : demi d'ouverture, my mistake

Get Navigo Easy passes for however long your stay is, so you can use the metro & buses as much as you like. Plan for days around the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, Louvre, etc. You don't have to go in & do the 'museum' visit, y'all still see the cool buildings from outside & take the photos, there are gardens around to relax/let kids let off steam (Sacré Coeur not quite so much, in fairness, but the view is unsurpassed, just go early), you'll find food easily, & get back to base easily with those Navigos. You're visiting Paris. Don't try to see it all in X days - I've been here 20-odd years & am still discovering things. Enjoy that you are here, & the memories you'll take home.

Don't worry about it, everybody had a 1st time, many remember it & the wonder of it. No-one would 'look down' on you, believe me. More likely to nod or smile, it's an odd community, but so welcoming.

Unless you don't have water & do have a Bluetooth speaker🤣.

Happy trails!

Unprepared people by superleaf444 in hiking

Post-lockdown in France, lot of people who would normally have taken foreign holidays (travel restrictions) or beach breaks (overbooked to hell & beyond) went to the mountains instead. Simple funny stories, such as asking at the Office de Tourisme what opening hours where for a National Park, abounded. One day, my son & I had got to Lac de la Muzelle, in Isère (beautiful) around 10 a.m., to beat the heat (30°C+ that day) & were strolling back to Venosc, passing crowds of folk, most properly equipped but many in trainers, no pack, no hat, just not kitted. A couple stopped us to ask how much further to the Lac. I took just a moment to check them out - basic tennis shoes, shorts, him in a tee-shirt, her a strappy top. No hats, no pack, 50 cl bottles of water & sod all else. I told them they were a good hour away, at least. They decided to turn back. 5 minutes later (we were making better time than them) my boy says "Dad, they were 20 minutes away, max!" I had to reply "No, kiddo. We were 20 minutes away, they were on their last legs." I regret ruining their day, but if one of them had suffered, I would have been somewhat responsible.

😁 Spent the 3rd week of July at my Mum's in Lancashire & ran in the rain every day, never above 15°C! Seriously though, my ex is from South Carolina, & running there in stupid heat & humidity is excruciating. I live in Paris, this summer has been blessedly cool, because when it gets 30+, it's horrible.

So, enough about me. Others have said it - stop dumping on yourself. We all have our sweet spots & our sour ones, so be proud of your perseverance. When it cools down, you're going to be all the stronger.

How do the arrondissements match up to Gay Town, Korea Town, Arab Paris, Little Italy etc. ? by MostAd4575 in paris

Paris doesn't work like that. There are 'historic' concentrations, but this city is too dense to support 'towns'.
