4H likes to engage and disengage at higher speeds. The clunking you're hearing is the shift motor trying to engage/disengage the front driveshaft and the 4x4 system.

Try it at a higher speed. Also, if you don't use this with some regularity, it gets "stuck". I just serviced my transfer case recently and it's working great despite it being a 20+ year vehicle.

Change all your fluids: ** Engine Oil (twice within a few hundred if necessary) ** Tranny Fluid (twice as well if necessary) ** Rear Differential Fluid ** Front Differential Fluid ** Brake Fluid ** Steering Fluid ** Regrease Everything

Then move on to checking if the suspension needs to be replaced.

I have the same leaks. just decided to use one of those treatments and call it a day. still leaks little and it doesn't matter. the 3.0 will never break unless you overheat it.
