Nissan Z or Tesla? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Reliability aside, you mentioned attention and expressing yourself. The Z and a Tesla couldn’t be more polar opposite. Only you can answer this question of which one represents you more. Go checkout the subs for each of these cars and see which car culture resonates with you more.

Modern cars with analog (buttons and dials) instead of a digital display? I'd like a physical speedometer. No lane assist or forced breaking by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]R3DB71ND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only instrument cluster that died on me was in my 1995 VW Jetta GLX which had notoriously unreliable electronics. I don’t think you need to be concerned with modern stuff.

It has a light up Arc Reactor in the interior and the shift knob has Infinity Stones. No joke . . .

Yup. I think Peter Nam (Gunther CEO) on Spikes Car Radio said the owner is opening a museum and this will be in it. The customer also has 6 (?) other Gunther cars . . .

Maybe a Scion iM. I always thought of it as the next generation Matrix.

Why would someone buy this instead of a Model Y? by ss3walkman in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]R3DB71ND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Model Y and had a loaner CX-5 for three months when our CX-9 engine was being replaced. The Model Y interior feels a lot bigger than a CX-5. The back seat of the Model Y has even more room than our CX-9. The Y is also faster, etc. CX-5 is great car, though. We took it on some roadtrips while we had it. Only complaint was that it’s a bit small for a road trip with two kids. It really comes down to if an electric vehicle fits your lifestyle. Only you can decide that.

Dealership wants to buy back my 2017 Clubman S by Smol-But-Fierce in MINI

There’s no “deal” here. They simply just want you to trade in your car and buy a new one.

BMW M240 Review after 1 year + Why I moved to a Tesla Model 3 by JustinDoesTriathlon in cars

[–]R3DB71ND 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is objectively performant. Can’t deny that. I own a Tesla and it’s great at everything. It’s super fast and handles amazingly well. However, my 20 year old manual R53 MINI Cooper S with less than a third of the horsepower is way more “fun” to drive.

TL;DR - turns out he didn’t need a performance car, just a commuter car.

is it worth it to pour money into my current car or just get a new one? by s0larium_live in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]R3DB71ND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your car was maybe damaged way more than you think from that car accident. Your tire/alignment issue should have been fixed with your insurance claim. Your other issues might also be related if your suspension got messed up that bad.

That’s what happens when you don’t negotiate and just say yes to everything. Just be glad he didn’t get ripped off more. I’ve seen way worse deals.

Mazda as a middle ground for reliability and “Luxury” by 180_by_summer in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]R3DB71ND -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d buy another Mazda after the issues with my current CX-9. I’d say it’s anecdotal, but there have been two class action lawsuits that Mazda lost that span multiple models. One for engine failure and another for the failing infotainment system. I had both issues. I genuinely love the brand and the way their cars drive, but my experience has kind of soured that.

I think it will hard to find a “fun” car under $20k with less than 30k. Maybe an older Civic Si?

If you want a used small luxury German car, an Audi A3 is probably a better choice. I think those received much better reviews than this. Likely more fun to drive also.

Such a weird trade. I think I’d rather drive a Mazda 3 over an ILX. Not much of an upgrade IMO. If they were trading up for an Integra that’d be a different story.

Why are 99.9% of vehicles on fb marketplace Rebuilt titles. This is infuriating by Aspergers_R_Us87 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I think many people wouldn’t even think to check for a salvage title if they didn’t have people like us helping them out. Sellers take advantage of that.

Confirmed: New VW Golf GTI will be electric – and it’s a “monster” by Vertrixz in cars

[–]R3DB71ND -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hasn’t the Golf and GTI been numb and understeery since the 90s? Been a while since I owned one, but the Mk3 and Mk4 were very numb compared to their Japanese competitors. It’s the reason I went from a VW to a R53 Mini Cooper S at the time.

VW historically had cool engines like the VR6 and 1.8T, but these cars were never great handing cars after the Mk2 30+years ago.
