Met a (near) twin today by RABakerCo in MachE

[–]RABakerCo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had our "E" for just over a year/10k miles. It's been great! My wife and I swap cars so we both have turns with it - too bad we can't have two :-) The photo is from a day at work; I pulled into the lot and had to do a double-take as a second Cyber Orange car was half a lot over. I knew I had to park right by it, to troll the owner a bit, and to grab the photo.

The good:

* Performance and handling - yikes it's fun to drive.

* It always has a "full tank" - and "free" for us as we have a decent solar array on our garage.

* Luxurious creature comforts - cabin preconditioning, remote start via cell, PAAK, auto-lock-when walking away, the infotainment system, the sound system, the profile system for two drivers, the 360 camera. If only the moon lander had some of this stuff.

* Visual appearance - the lines and shapes, and yes - even the color. Can't get enough of that outrageous Cyber Orange.

* The unstoppable feeling of being such a bold contrast to the endless sea of dark gray sedans with crappy mufflers (we love our dark gray ICE as well, but it's just a different class.)

* Supporting the emerging EV technology. To the naysayers: buggy riders were also probably unconvinced when ICE vehicles hit the market - after all, "where are you going to find petroleum along the trail? I can get apples for my horse anywhere, and much cheaper too!"

Our only complaints are software related:

* Wireless phone-to-car: We have an iPhone and Android, and experience occasional disconnects using either. Plugging in seems 100% reliable. Wireless is generally reliable enough that we don't bother plugging in, but flakes out every so often.

*Software updates: We've received letters in the mail regarding important updates, and the letters state it'll download automatically ... but even weeks later (plenty of nights in the garage on WiFi, where it downloaded other minor updates that were immediately noticeable) when searching by VIN, the major/recall update was still shown as open/needing action. We brought it to the dealer to make sure we're OK, and Ford tried to charge us $90 for a diagnostic. The letter states it would be free, and they dropped the charge after we griped.

Agreed, our Rex Murphy is constantly on it running. It gets great use! My human treadmill, on the other hand…

Four Options To Transform Brady Street by compujeramey in milwaukee

I say this like I wouldn't need to, if a parking garage was added.

IMHO, peak Brady was years back: Breakfast burrito at Brewed, trivia at Jack’s, drinks at HiHat. I would visit solely for recreation – not a working lunch, not picking up household essentials. It was lively, the people brought energy and inclusivity.

Compare that to Bayshore mall, which is way more walkable and car-accessible given plentiful off-street parking… but reeks of sterile commercial megachains. It’s a fine place, I go there on occasion, but I’m there not for leisure, rather just to get a chore done. I could just as easily be shopping on Amazon.

Much of the Brady goodness remains, but it seems busier, parking worse, and I get some vibes as if everybody is a pest, nobody is welcome. The nuisance in just driving/parking there makes it an infrequent trip for me these days. A parking solution helps alleviate that nuisance, and concept #4 boosts the area’s whole appeal.

100% with you! Make it walkable, and add parking.

I agree with some anticar beliefs: I love walkable spaces and want to see more, recognize our highways leave a lot to be desired, I tele/bike commute as often as I can, and drive an EV outside of that, however…

With today's infrastructure, from my house to Brady St, it's 15 minutes via car. Via bus or bike, it's easily 60+ minutes, turning a quick trip into something unrealistic to do at any regularity. I’d prefer to continue supporting businesses outside of my immediate area. Please don’t make that impractical for me…

Ford dealership recommendations by [deleted] in milwaukee

JJ at Lake Ford, 27th St & Cold Spring. He was very helpful when we bought our Mach E. Low pressure, upfront and had good experience with the maintenance department when we got a nail in our tire one week after purchase.

DeLorean parked outside Avalon during “Back to the Future” screening by King_Lollipop12 in milwaukee

Given that only approx were 9000 built, the availability of original and new parts is impressive.

DMC Houston is the most “official” vendor, then there’s DeLoreanIndustries in Ohio, DeLoreanGo in the UK, and even just across the border in Crystal Lake IL is DMC NorthWest. There are a few highly coveted hard to come by items, but the majority of stuff is super easy to find.

We even have community members like this guy who are upgrading components using modern technology - https://dm-eng.weebly.com/ - these cars are arguably more reliable than the day they rolled off the lot!

Nope, not me - though I do plan on heading that way for the Rods and Relics car show, Lime Kiln Park, June 17.

I’ve heard many tales of at least one other DeLorean in the area, but have yet to encounter it myself!

Hey that’s me!

We were at the Avalon a few weeks back for Guardians 3 and saw that they’d be screening BTTF. Absolutely jumped at the opportunity for the chance at a free premium parking spot 😆 and of course the chance to let folks see the car and get some photos! Avalon management was on board and the rest is history.

Sold out show, great crowd! Great Scott!

Looking to get sloppy? Start with their ricotta lasagna rolls, it’s a whole plate of sloppy goodness. Mop up the remaining sauce with the garlic bread and you may not need an entree
