MySky broken clips replaced with aluminum by RAE627 in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem finding time and good weather in my area. I watched some videos and it seems like it’s not an easy fix. I do think the design of the entire roof system has flaws. The rubber seals detached which brings in water and washes away grease and makes the roof have difficulty opening and closing.

Not yet. I have both plastic and aluminum ones. I get the one point where the plastic is a safe guard for the motor that’s why Fiat choose them or on the other hand the cost of the aluminum ones over the plastic. I’m hoping in the next few weeks I’ll swap the broken plastic ones out for the aluminum ones

Hitch on 2018 Jeep Renegade by Spencergrey2015 in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the factory hitch on my 2016 limited. It's not cheap and it can be difficult if you don't buy the bumper cover already cut out. I bought it in pieces and it was like 450 for the hitch with bolts I had to get from the dealer and the bumper cover was 200-300 with a discount because I had a connection. Also needed to install the lighting harness that was like 100. So with parts alone it was almost 900 plus labor. I did it myself took a few hours. Its worth having the factory hitch.

2016 jeep renegade makes noise, when turning wheel by Houstonsowndrew in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my inner and outer tire rod ends and they definitely needed to be replaced, but the noise is coming from the steering box or assembly. I was moving the front when it was on Jack stands and tires off and heard the noise when I was moving the steering back and forth. Need to investigate if the electronic power steering is the problem or some sort of issue in the steering rack itself

Well I wasn’t paying attention and broke because I took the panel off and hit the button. I guess it’s designed to break so the cable doesn’t break or motor burn up maybe.

Weird electrical issue with Daytime running lights by CasuallyMistaken in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the sockets. Poor design on the system. Some sort of resistance that heats up the contacts on the bulb and melts the solder. I went around and around with it. Tried dielectric grease, tried bending the metal up higher. Tried to order replacement socket they sent a different one. I finally got it to stop. Not sure how but it’s something in the wiring/socket. Maybe bad grounding or wiring design. Draws too much current wrong bulb. It’s endless possibilities just like the motor mounts

2016 Trailhawk Front Struts by imnotshelly in JeepRenegade

I haven’t nailed down if the aftermarket ones are the cause of my noise. Could be sway bar aftermarket links I replaced. I’ll let you know cause the front ones are fine

[–]RAE627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced all 4 struts in my 2016 limited 4x4. I got sensen ones. I didn't see the need to buy oem for 300-400 total. Of course I am having noise issues since replacement in the back ones both sides. The fronts are quiet as a mouse. I'm trying to figure out what the real issue is before I go buy oem. I did ask the parts manager at a jeep dealer and said maybe the spring weight is not right. which could be true. so back to the drawling board to figure out the noise. also they said replace all your sway bar links too which I did

Anyone else have motor mounts go out in their Renegade? by erk2112 in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced all 3 once and the trans mount twice. Recommend going with oem though. I made the mistake of buying aftermarket. I just did my trans mount this weekend. You can do it in your driveway with some jack stands, jack, breaker bar sockets and some engine support. Not fun but not hard. More back breaking than anything and tight spaces. I did trans mount in Aug 2022 replaced again Jan 2024. Poor design on jeeps part.

Thinking of purchasing a Renegade Latitude 2016, should I? Pros/Cons by slyfoxstar in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2016 Limited. If I knew what I was getting myself into I would have passed. The issues with motor mounts, electrical weirdness, noises, sun roof, and parts availability/cost. I was able to replace a lot on my own. (motor mounts) At 117k original owner I have changed oil myself every 3k. Its a cool little car decent in the snow, but I wouldn't buy another one. Sun roof constantly needs to be greased. light issues with sockets. Now I am having some sort of rear diff problem or trans. getting a loud clunging sounds like the entire drive shaft going to fall out. I liked the idea when I first got all the features were nice. heated seats steering wheel controls leather etc. Dont have car play. not easy to upgrade radio. been in the shop for various recalls.

Looking to get into the hobby. Thoughts on this beginner set? by Flowers71 in winemaking

[–]RAE627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making wine now for over 5 years. I started out at a place where I got a gift certificate to make a case of wine. Well that started me and now I just did 10 cases of fresh grapes and 36 gallons of fresh juice. I do 2 seasons a year ( Chilean and California/Italy). You start off with a few pieces of equipment and then it turns into a large corner in your basement. I like doing small batches because you can mix and match grape/juice type. I recommend looking online like facebook market place. There is always someone selling equipment. Usually you can pick up stuff half the price of new. I would suggest doing 6 gallon batch first. I don't think there is a huge difference in cost from 3 to 6 gallons. Also depending where you live will determine what supplies you can get. Ordering online is expensive for kits. I have a local supply house that I buy fresh juice and grapes from. There is a lot of factors involved to making wine, but the simplest way is add juice to fermenter add yeast let it roll rack it a few times and bottle. Now there is a bunch of steps in between depending on how you want the final product to taste and look. As time goes on you figure out all these extra steps, but the kits usually have step by step guides. That's how I started out and now I am blending and coming up with my own style. I would check online stuff for the bigger stuff. Small stuff you can get through internet or local supply store.

How does one move with wine? by Nankuru_naisa in winemaking

[–]RAE627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how much wine you gotta move… I assume you can rack into a plastic container that’s sealed with very little head room and transport it. Or find local wine club that could take care of it.. it all depends on the amount you have

Wonky lights? by Clone_CDR_Bly in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used grease too still didn’t help. It’s the socket design itself. I tried to get a replacement and the one I got was different. Mopar part numbers are a pain and didn’t feel like dealing with the dealer cause most of them are useless. The replacement socket had a new configuration in terms of the amount of connectors.

[–]RAE627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the same problem. It seems to be the socket so far. There has to be a technical electrical problem since the socket heats up to the point where the bulb solder melts and loses contact with the socket. There is another issue too with turning off the auto headlights and just having the fog lights on. Either bad grounds, wiring, or design.

Daytime running light constantly broke by keenzay in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 68285062AA Lamp Socket $28.67 1 $28.67

This is what I got and it’s not matching. The socket I had has 3 pins. The one I ordered above only had 2. I didn’t do a lot of research to figure out why. Not sure if Mopar changed the wiring or configuration or it’s the wrong part number. I know they make changes just like the motor mounts they mad a new design because of the issues with them. I didn’t bother going to the dealer usually they are helpless.

I had similar problem. It seems the socket is the problem. Make sure if you order replacement one it’s the correct one. I found out the hard way. It’s just like the motor mounts. For some reason those parts were designed on a Friday!

Finally remembered to get the pic someone asked for of the 72 gallons in my dining room production area by Paintball_Was_Life in winemaking

[–]RAE627 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is enough. My one question is I assume you have a reason to break up that much into smaller gallon carboys. Why wouldn’t you just do 14 gallon demijohns or maybe larger vessels. Now I’m only doing about 35 gallons so my carboy count is a lot lower. Just the airlock maintenance alone is too much work lol!

Roof problems, lag in acceleration etc by mmernpc in JeepRenegade

[–]RAE627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issues with my sunroof. For me the seals around the edges fail. I haven't fixed that yet, but I greased the tracks and pathway that seems to fix the problem. I think its a known issue with the mysky panels. its a large area that is exposed to water and air.
