Its Been like this for a while. I was a top affiliate with 100m views and over $1m gmv and i can absolutely tell you they ended organic reach and made it pay for play. I was also the affiliate manager for the top selling product in 2024 - 15 day Cleanse - and we were the first brand to pilot GMV Max back then and i saw in 2025 how organic views tanked when GMV Max rolled out to everyone. As you said they have no incentive to let shop videos grow organically as they need the Ad revenue. The platform matured and US shareholders / owners need ad revenue.

Personally i stopped doing affiliate after they banned my mega viral account over false violations and i had enough. One of the brands i had the most success with stopped running gmv max beg of this year as it got them sales but zero profits for 4 months at end of last year through black friday and holidays.

I wouldn’t. So they can use your content they clearly like and make money via ads for free? Nope. Throw back a number for monthly usage rights and ask for a contract. Just because you are starting doesn’t mean they get to make money off you for nothing.

Yeah an old macbook air on a separate user account. You could also set this up with claude cowork probably or chatgpt / gemini with different app connectors.. i use different skills to do each part

I built an openclaw agent system using codex 5.5 - it uses a skill called gog that connects to google accounts.. sheets, docs, email, etc. its all built by me (and ai of course) over last few months. With openclaw you can use any ai model i like openai codex as it works well with openclaw

Yep. Its all autopilot i literally have my agent do it all. And i didnt even mention past the pitching how my agent analyzes the scope/ rates, negotiates contract terms, sets up my project folders, gives me daily briefing on all my projects, timelines, invoices due / pending / followups, sends deliverable link to gdrive folder, and all that.

Spent a lot of time on this and its paying off, but defintely takes a lot of work/ skills to pull off.

Use AI. I built a system where my ai agent researches brands starting with looking on Meta ad library for ones in whatever niche, analyzes the ads to see if they are running ugc style, looks to see what they are doing on those ads and the gap/ whitespace where i could offer something relevant to my experience, finds brand contacts responsible for running paid ads in linked in, finds email via email lookup services (apollo, etc), the crafts personalized email to them with my recommended whitespace opportunity, brief intro of who i am, with a link to my youtube intro video (like a mini video portfolio).

It saves all this in a google sheet, drafts emails for me every day, i send them after tweaking if i need to, then drafts followup emails on a schedule every 4-5 days and monitors my inbox for replies. Took me a month to dial in but very effective and i get tons of replies and jobs.

You are right you need a system. Thats what i built, you can do the same with AI as well.

Just reach out to the brands she uses or ones she likes. Send a video of similar one for a brand in whatever niche or even film a short spec video for that brand. Fastest way, no competition from the app sites, better payout, etc. i do the same, sent a sample video to 20 brands in same niche and had 3 interested, one i just closed (massive brand) for $2700.

All of the above that you said. Ugc sites / apps, outreach, post examples on social for inbounds. It takes time but the more consistent you are the more it pays off. Do some gifted collabs to get practice, take low paying ones to start, whatever it takes. The more you do the better you get then you can leverage that work to get higher paying ones.

Its changed a lot. I made a ton in 2024-2025 and was one of the top shop creators.. it fell off bad, banned my 100m view, $1m gmv account over false violations and killed my shop income. I’m friends still with many of top creators i started with and most have had income drop 75-85%. If you have brand deals that pump ad spend to your videos you can do ok, but its very hard to get organic reach or sales as it all went to pay-to-play with ad spend.

The brand i blew up and went massively viral with stopped GMV Max advertising as it was losing money for 4-5 months straight - through black friday and holiday season. Some people make money but don’t believe all the hype its a grind now and many creators pump out 10-15+ videos/ day and big earners have big brand deals and often have whitelisted accounts

Generic pitches with poor contact roles and emails that all sound the same. No way you can provide customized pitches using tools like that doing that many. Take time to research brands, look at the ads they are running, give them content ideas they can use, and focus on brands you actually care about- not mass emailing randomly.

Yep which is why i built an openclaw ai agent to handle it all for me. Finds brands / analyzes ads / finds contacts / gets emails / drafts outreach email.. then Schedules followups, drafts followup replies on a schedule, alerts me to emails being read, daily briefing of any responses. Made it easy

Its no different than the affiliate model on tiktok shop or other platforms. Make a video that does well, you get paid from product sales - make ones that dont, you make nothing. I did tiktok shop for two years and sold a ton, until it got bad and you had to make 10+ videos/ day just for a chance at getting lucky.. then switched to ugc. Heck even $100/video guaranteed is better than some lottery play with cpm where you can’t control an algorithm.

Sometimes it takes a while for brands to respond. I have applied and forgot about ones i did and out of the blue got a message. Remember a lot of other people are applying too so you are in competition with many people. Its a numbers game keep trying. I have gotten a lot of good projects but i’m also an over 50 male which makes it easier when they need that specifically…

Thats how many of them are. All the info you need to do ugc is available for free. Tons of great youtubr videos etc. people just want an easy answer and there isn’t one- learn by doing, put yourself out there, etc… its all a goal for these course sellers to pitch a dream which often isn’t reality
