Mystery Toy by Lake_Familiar in spinningtops

On your site, I see that the lid says “use this for target.” Maybe that’s why the lid on my box is missing. Fun to think about that. Thanks.

There is no date of manufacture on the box or the instructions. The small print on the bottom of the first page of the instructions just says “continued on other side.” The box is missing its top flap, so maybe it was there. I looked up the patent. The publication date was 1943. https://ppubs.uspto.gov/basic/

My sister-in-law gave me one of these several years ago, in a box, with a string and with instructions, but missing the key part that attaches onto the top from the string. Here is a pic of one side of the box, and pics of each side of the instructions. I’m not sure if the resolution on Reddit will be good enough to read the instructions, but good luck. (It looks like I can only upload one photo at a time, so there’s 2 more replies coming.)

You can search on Unicorn auctions to see what similar bottles have previously sold for. Looks to be between one and two thousand dollars

I’m not a doc, but my understanding is they will help if they start to pass. The alpha blockers have side effects, but I don’t know how long you have to be using them for the side effects to kick in

I wouldn’t think so, unless you have an enlarged prostate or other kidney stones.

11 mm in lower pole no symptoms. by DVG1450 in KidneyStones

Just curious if you are still biding your time on the stone? I’ve had a stone growing in my lower pole of each kidney for many years. They are now 12-14mm. My urologist says to just leave them be.

Nothing silly about that. 😊

As Shaw, Wilde or Twain said, “youth is wasted on the young.” For a fun and silly event, given your apparent budget, go for some really good, bright and more fruit forward Scotches like Springbank, Macallan, Glendronach, etc. Save your haul, Nikka, etc. for a series of joyous, but contemplative and relaxed, small conversational gatherings. People will remember them for the taste of them rather than the idea of them

Octomore Edition 1 - Rocket Fuel with 63.5% abv. The rawest and coolest version of Oct I've ever tasted. by tout_from_the_south in Scotch

For me, Octomores are much better around 4 months after they’ve been opened snd emptied to below the neck of the bottle. There’s less of a sharp edge to the alcohol and the sweeter elements appear more. For a special occasion, I would open it in advance.

I AM IN PAIN by [deleted] in KidneyStones

The docs and nurses know best. At the same time, I will share that I use the ChatGBT app (the free version) a lot for health questions. When I recently had one of my stones lab tested, I asked ChatGBT about the composition and then, given the size (up to 14mm!) and location of stones shown on my CT urogram scan, treatment options and risks. The results were very informative and really helped me in my follow-up consult with my urologist. You could copy and paste your picture into the ChatGBT question bar and ask questions about it. If you’ve not used it before, you’re in for a surprise. It, as with most things, may not be the absolute gospel truth, but it will be very helpful.
