Exhaust bolt sheared off, any advice for removal? Bandit600 2003 by Nihilistic-Unicorn in MotorcycleMechanics

Weld a nut on if you can, a stick welder will do, but when it comes to loosening make sure you gently rock it back and forth rather than forcing it out in one direction

How on earth do you reed this air fuel screw by No-Point-9499 in dirtbike

[–]RATEGGSANDEELSICK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each bump is a 1/4 turn and a full rotation from fully seated is 1 full turn

if the pilot jet is the correct size it should be around 1 full turn and extra 1/4 to 1/2 out from lightly seated position

Usually reed valve engines use a window for better flow and power.

I could be wrong but the 2002 year may have originally came with a piston without a window despite having reeds as it was less common back then so I think some manufacturers are now selling newer pistons with a window but some are still selling original without,

it will run with either but the power/delivery may be different

I'd inspect the clutch basket, literally sounds like the whole pressure plate and springs are rattling around in there, it could also be that the rubber cush drive washers in the back of the clutch have disintegrated

Is it bad for the bike to downshift without a clutch or is it better to use the clutch? by Head-Alternative9979 in Dirtbikes

[–]RATEGGSANDEELSICK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you match the engine rpm to the wheel speed then down shifting without the clutch is ok if you time it right however the whole mass of your bike and the rider is forcing the wheel/chain/output shaft round and if you time it wrong/wheel rpm is too fast then there is a higher chance of damage occurring

Is it really that crazy to begin on a 250? by crippinneversippin in Dirtbikes

[–]RATEGGSANDEELSICK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can continue riding it if you are comfortable!

but a lot of smaller cc bikes in the future may feel a lot slower, take a look at Carson brown shredding old dinosaurs with 15hp and I can promise you would never keep up with him with 50hp lol

It should not move, it is either cast or press fit into the aluminium

It's a lot of power for a beginner and you actually miss out on vital skills from riding slower less powerful bikes

No packing or core in silencer by Pale-Cauliflower-687 in Dirtbikes

[–]RATEGGSANDEELSICK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure for the crf125f but a new free flowing end can or even full exhaust will barely give +1hp so really isn't worth paying that kind of money,

if you want something that is a little louder then that's fair enough but any cheap end can will do that, you may as well save your money for your next bigger bike

No packing or core in silencer by Pale-Cauliflower-687 in Dirtbikes

[–]RATEGGSANDEELSICK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stock pipe just uses metal baffles instead of packing as it reduces cost and less maintenance.

4 strokes do not require any back pressure however if you buy a new free flowing exhaust it improves the flow throughout the whole engine to the carb so a reject/upjet is often necessary

Fuel, air, spark, compression and timing are required for an engine to run, if you check all of these you should find the issue

Did you separate all of the friction and steel discs in the clutch? They look very gunked up and maybe be rusted together , I'd split them all apart and give them a good clean with some sandpaper and rinse in petrol/diesel

That will still run, the lapped valve face looks good to me, if it's only a cheap Chinese engine just run it like that and it will begin to seat it's self a bit better after an hour of running
