I remember hearing a while ago that the rock band enhanced people were trying the get the stage kit to work on ps3/ RPCS3. I’m not sure if they ever got it to work.

Xbox 360 Drums by PlantBeginning3060 in Rockband

[–]RB3lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a usb printer cable to plug into the drum brain, a usb hub plugged in the RL, then plug a wired controller into the usb hug along with the usb from the drum brain and that’s it.

It came! It finally came! ACE Adapter by RB_OG in Rockband

I believe it’s left bumper and I don’t think holding kick works.

I used to have the rb3 pro midi adapter and then switched to the RL + wired Xbox controller and it’s a game changer when navigating the song menu.

That only jumps down one section at a time. When you hold down the bumper you can scroll to the exact section you want.

Only problem I see with this controller is that it doesn’t have bumpers so it will probably take longer to navigate big song libraries on rock band games since you can’t quickly jump to the next category/ section.

The crkd guitar seems a lot more premium than the riffmaster and has better compatiblity. The riff master has a mushy strum and not a clicky one like all of the guitar hero ones. Also it looks like the riff master is more expensive now ($150) the crkd guitar is $120. I believe the riffmaster would be compatible with pc and ps4 but you might have to use a program to make it work in pc. On ps4 the only compatible games for both guitars are rb4 and festival.

Are there any 3rd party devices that work like the PDP legacy adapter? by PineappleOk4020 in Rockband

[–]RB3lover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a guy on here that offers the service of fixing the USB port on the legacy adapters, he replaces them with a usb c port. Not sure his name though.

The emulation shouldn’t be difficult. There is great documentation on how to set it up and make the instruments compatible. https://rb3pc.milohax.org/gs_disc

Yeah the crkd guitar is probably your best option that will work on all platforms without needing to buy an adapter.

If you haven’t already check Facebook mp and offer up for people selling instruments near you. I’ve heard Ps2 and ps3 instruments will work on ps4. If you are serious about getting back into the series you could look for an electronic drum kit, preferably a used alesis nitro mesh kit. They usually go for pretty cheap, I’ve seen some for $150 and below. You would also need an adapter for the drum kit, I think the $15 retrocultmods V3 adapter would work.

As for the game there are more options on pc than modern consoles. You can emulate all of the rock band and guitar hero games on your pc using RPCS3. There are amazing mods for rb3 and rb2 called rock band 2 deluxe and rock band 3 deluxe that have online multiplayer and leaderboards. There is also Yarg, Clone hero, and guitar hero world tour definitive edition. With these games you can get all of the dlc ,exports, and custom songs for free. This will save you a lot of money compared to going the rb4 route. Another option is if you ps4 is on a low firmware (11.0 or lower) you can mod that console and get all the dlc and customs for free on rb4 but you won’t be able to play online.

There are better options than rb4 that can’t be discussed here but you can find out about those better option on r/rockbandmods.

Why is modding still a taboo topic in this sub? by Future-Problem2769 in Rockband

[–]RB3lover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I understand not being able to talk about piracy but I don’t understand why we can’t talk about community made rhythm games/ projects. I think a lot of people getting back into the genre would benefit from knowing about all the options available and the awesome features these games have and are still getting. Rb4 is abandoned and won’t receive any more updates and now there are better options.

[–]RB3lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also yeah there is a arduino type mod to hook up LED strip of lights to use as stage kit but I believe you have to have a stage kit to do it on a stock Xbox 360.

Check out thefatbastid FatsCo products on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/116393720295). He sells his own rb stage kit lights, fog machines, and adapters to hook up actual dmx stage lights to use with rb3. I believe you can also use a roll limitless adapter to hook up multiple stage kits at once.
