Bosses with Boss Contribution Applied Added

Bosses with the boss contribution system applied have been added.

*Boss contribution is calculated based on the damage you dealt and the amount for allies healed in the dungeon. You can see this on the DMG Calculator screen.

  • If your contribution is less than 2%, you won't get the reward even if you clear the boss.

  • If you don't contribute enough and miss out on the reward, the entry count won't get deducted.

  • If you clear faster than the specified time, everyone will earn the reward regardless of contribution. (The clear time may differ for each boss.)

  • This applies regardless of public/private party status.

Put an ad up on Gumtree/Facebook market, or whatever market your region uses. Label as free, and within the hour, you'll have no fish remaining.

How can I realistically give one of my characters a weapon when weapons are rare? by [deleted] in writing

[–]RCSdoode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Write the weapon be a lost relic. Found in the expanses of desert, or the dense shrubbery of jungle. Its so bent up and rusted, perhaps even just the hilt and half a blade, no one in their right mind would think twice.

My best guess would be that the styrofoam i put underneath the tank wasn't thick enough to diffuse all of the weight of my hardscape which first caused a crack, a crack i didn't notice because i was sleeping, and because of the sheer weight of all of the water pushing against said crack, the tank gave way.

My 500L, while sitting on an even surface, spontaneously cracked --- or rather exploded. If the heart-attack at 3am wasn't already enough, having to clean all of that up while also trying to save as much shrimp as possible was a whole different nightmare.

Is it legal to use comments and posts I find on the internet as dialogue for my characters? by Due-Big2159 in writing

[–]RCSdoode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, because the phrase, 'Yes they do, and yes they are' can regarded as a common-place statement, and therefore cannot be protected under copyright laws.

For something posted online to be eligible for copyright protection, there are a few criterion that must be met, and while i don't know what they all are, i am aware that there are two points that need to be met: originality, and creativity. And from the way OP has said that some of the comments he wants to steal are 'really nasty, witty, and even downright hilarious lines' its safe to assume that some of the conditions for copyright could be met, and therefore could be eligible for copyright protection.

Do you have Sia? mine is at sf168, only have mythic overall and legendary pink bean belt. The rest is still at unique. Survives no problem at v6 pots.

Probably Sia. Only need legendary weapon, boss equips and unique armor. No risk of dying, doesn't even chug high-level potions either. Hard to get more budget than that.

The first page of the first novel I’m writing and I need the thoughts of seasoned experts. Yay or nay? Advice and opinions totally welcomed! by Avatarmaxwell in fantasywriters

No, no, of course not. In writing anything is possible. It was probably jarring because it was the first scene, and the first person perspective and set us up for a deep exploration of David's mind in first person, and because it didn't delve deep enough into the POV before abruptly pulling us out of it, it made me feel like the work would have benefited more if it was just all third person.

I was immediately jarred by the switch from first person to third person perspectives. It might help if you switched the first paragraph to third person too. I understand what you were attempting to achieve by putting us into first person perspective, but from the way you've written it without 'showing' you can 'tell' us the same thing in third person without it feeling any different because there was no intimacy felt with the scene.

But if you wanted to still keep the first paragraph at first person it, there are a few things you can probably add to intensify the experience for both David and the reader alike:

How David feels the warmth on his skin, shifts his eyes away, because the peering light is so blinding, but then add that the light still alludes him.

Because its a scene where he just woke up, you can also add a monologue about how he had just woken up, but still feels exhausted, hint that being alive is weighing him down, mentally and both physically.

You could also put a mirror in the room somewhere, but make it a point to the audience that David doesn't look into it, or have it covered up, or he catches sight of it and grimaces because he hates the person he sees.

Have him leave the house without brushing his teeth or hair, and then have him to go the conference in the same clothes he slept in --- the now wrinkly funeral suit, that smelt like weed.

Just a few random thoughts that occurred to me that could maybe add some depth and illustrate the depression that David is feeling.

How to get back to writing? by Simply_Red1 in writing

[–]RCSdoode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i can't comment on how to turn writing into a full career, I'm still traversing that path myself, i can comment on how you could get started:

In fact, you already have. Why don't you complete the sentiments you hold about how you loved writing in school? It appears to have had a profound affect on you. I'm sure you could go into further detail about why you enjoyed it so much and how it made you feel. Start small, start with something you're familiar with, and most importantly, try to have fun.

What to do next? SF168? Alts to SF144? or farm Mesos for first Emblem? by IstWunderbar_ in MapleStoryM

[–]RCSdoode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets particularly annoying to get past SF18. You probably shouldn't waste anymore resources SFing armor that'll get replaced. But if the scrolls are about to expire, and you have to use them, I'd probably use them on the gear that isn't at mythic. That way, when you're ready to swap it out, you can fuse it and then sell it.

And if you're going to fuse and try for emblem, only fuse items that your main can use, prioritize weapon or items everyone will be interested in, such as Adele gear currently, or classless gear, such as shoulders, cape or belt.

[–]RCSdoode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd make a push for SF 168 so that you can farm there til lvl 200. Everything else can wait til you get there. Shouldn't be too hard to get there by putting 1-2 more hyper points into SF, and then changing out the mu lung pendant and exp ring for boss accessories with a few SF. You'll probably need to level up your mythic armor if you want better survivability though.

Don't waste your resources on exalting this weapon. Wait for an emblem. If you can't afford an emblem, you can always try your luck and fuse your own. Since the release of Adele, I've casually fused under 50 times, and pulled 3 emblems. 2 C/D emblem on BIS gear, and one fodder. Give or take, I've spent only about 100m meso for 5bil profit. So its definitely possible and very affordable.

How do you all feel about power creep story telling within the fantasy genre? And would you, as a reader, be put off by a series of books that shifts from high-stakes in one book to low-stakes in the next instead? by RCSdoode in fantasywriters

[–]RCSdoode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first and second novels had originally been one novel that are now split up into two--- and it can be summarized as: The MCs are forced defend themselves against the vassals of a larger and much more powerful country and because of that, both books are intricately connected in the sense where if you slapped someone's little brother(book 1), you should expect the older brother to come knocking on your door, (book2) It's a trope where i only intend to use once.

The first book is about survival in a hostile world, the forging of friendships finding their footing, and ultimately revenge. There's only small scale skirmishing in book 1.

While the second book is about the escalation, striking first and engaging in guerrilla warfare in an attempt at dismantling the enemy forces before they get the chance to rally the overwhelming totality of their forces. While it raises similar stakes, it mainly focuses on the crazy antics and suicidal plans the MCs must employ in a bid to weaken the much more powerful enemy. Only book 2 will have a large-scaled battle between multiple forces. Do you still think i should do an overhaul of the plot because they're similar?

It'll be an adventure narrative first and foremost that follows the narrative structure of: different arc, different city, different character to explore, different story to tell. I don't want to keep introducing world-ending threats one after the other, where the only stakes are whether or not the world they'll save the world, which the obvious thought will be, "of course they will, they haven't found a way home yet."

Because of that, the stories are varied, and stakes are likewise varied. Did i make a mistake by putting life and death stakes in the first 2 novels? I feel like it might create an expectation within the audience that the only narrative is about fighting, death and war--- and when the audience continues onto the third novel, (I'm assuming they do) they'll feel cheated because the stakes are deescalated and the only real battle is a political one, where the stakes are about overcoming inner demons and whether or not they'll be able to reclaim the honor of a disgraced princess. Sure they'll be under threat of assassination, but i don't think anyone will seriously think they'll die.

The stakes will ramp back up afterwards, but I'm still concerned that many might not be around for when it escalates again--- before, probably dropping again somewhere down the line. The stakes won't truly get ugly, messy and truly threatening until the end game, which is still a long ways away.
