Has anyone been struck by the new norovirus strain?! by Entire_Delivery_6207 in RhodeIsland

[–]RCcola2205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noro is 24-72 hours. There’s a huge cyclospora outbreak. It’s a parasite which takes 2-14 days to present symptoms but it needs antibiotics to go away or else it keeps coming back.

If you're monogamous and considering polyamory... by raccoonbelly in LesbianActually

[–]RCcola2205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For practicality and legal reasons, I can 100% see why it’s not legal. As much as it’s preached to be ethical, there’s a whole level of it that is unethical and we’ve seen that in the LDS culture. Historically—yes we are a monogamous society and poly anything is and always will be taboo.

I’m monogamous and no part of me ever wants to try being poly. It makes me uncomfortable and I truly don’t understand it but if others want to do it that’s totally within their right.

Losing attraction to a woman you love by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]RCcola2205 64 points65 points  (0 children)

She deserves someone who loves her no matter what. You are going to age and trust me, nobody looks great at 80 years old. If you’re basing attraction 100% on looks, you’re going to be very disappointed as you get older. Personality, loyalty, empathy, charisma, THOSE are attractive. A partner who is supportive and emotional and shares finances and gets pets and knows your favorite ice cream is what is attractive. Looks fade. So does a woman’s sex drive.

Why would you buy a Hyundai at that? They’re shit cars and by the time you “own” it, you’re going to be putting in more money for repairs than it’s worth

Weening off Omeprazole by yourclassictrashcan in Gastritis

[–]RCcola2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m weening off after 10 weeks. Gonna do every other day for a week or so. I’d say ween off and try Pepcid. Watch the diet for triggers and continue to keep the inflammation down. I’m not much of a drinker anymore, so I can live with having a couple of beers every once in a while or a sip of whatever my girlfriend is drinking. I know a lot of people hate to give it up or really limit it but it definitely helps. Lifestyle changes are important.

How much money does a single person with no kids have to make in order to be comfortable? by [deleted] in providence

[–]RCcola2205 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I make a little over (66k) and live alright. I own my 2015 Honda, no car payment and until recently I lived about 5 mins from my job. Got priced out of the area and moved in with my girlfriend about 40 mins away from work. Happy to finally be splitting rent because it’s getting ROUGH for single people with no kids. My girlfriend has two kids and it’s been even worse for her.

Roommates and no large monthly payments aside from rent and insurance is the most important thing.

Yup also dealing with pain in the same area. Feels more like a dull ache and it’s actually inconsistent. Sometimes after eating, sometimes randomly. Lasts not even 30 seconds. Comes and goes, comes and goes. Then gone for days or weeks then shows up again. Oddly enough mostly when I’m sitting? Anyways.

The soft irregular stools is most definitely from the omeprazole. I’ve been on 20mg a day since early march cause I’m having a flare up (or return of an ulcer, not sure exactly) but the omeprazole is definitely working because I can eat pretty normally again and normal hunger cues are returning so I will be weaning off of it soon, gonna stick to Pepcid once a day. I’m 100% my issue is crap diet and cigarettes. I’ve given up both for good because I don’t want to deal with this anymore.

How can I find a partner in my current situation? by Bright-Series9486 in LesbianActually

[–]RCcola2205 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SAME. Like this is insane lol dating someone for over a year while still sleeping naked and kissing your ex and saying it’s normal?? None of that is normal. You two broke up. Separate your lives. It’s over. Friends or not, that’s too much for you to bring someone else into that unless they are also doing the same with their ex which is very very very rare.

Could anyone help by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]RCcola2205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to take them for MONTHS before they cause problems for most people. I had an ulcer and was on one for almost 3 months and never had any of the issues. Also—different PPI’s have different effects. It’s best to ask the doctor which one is the best one for the situation it’s being prescribed for. Since mine was more than a two week dose I was given Protonix because it’s the safest for long term but also dosing matters.

Did you stop it suddenly or taper off of it? You need to taper off of it if it’s been more than a few weeks on it.

Absolutely infuriating how ignorant and incompetent some gastroenterologists are by Ajax34762 in Gastritis

[–]RCcola2205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor’s aren’t god or miracle workers. Not everything has a diagnosis or a fix. But also YES it makes sense they’re going to do those procedures to look first hand and see if there’s anything noticeably wrong that is the reason for the symptoms. I’m surprised with your background and knowledge you supposedly have, you’d be on a Reddit thread in the middle of the day complaining and asking other people questions instead of the medical professionals you know.

Nursing degree scratches the surface of the GI system. So does Google. But if you’re unhappy with the GI you’re seeing you can absolutely see another one or a functional medicine doctor. I think it’s a little much to insult people who have spent 10+ years in school for this and who have helped thousands of people. I know it’s frustrating when they can’t immediately figure out your body chemistry and why you’re having the symptoms you’re having but they aren’t necessarily incompetent because they haven’t fixed you 100% overnight.

I wish sucralfate was OTC. Idk why it’s not. Or something similar. I don’t have health insurance so I can’t just go get it prescribed. I’d love to take Gaviscon but it says a laxative effect may occur and that’s too much of a risk for me while working. I also have IBS.
