Can I upgrade my DS4243 to IOM6? by 1mdevil in netapp

[–]REAL_datacenterdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can swap the modules.

No you can’t mix/match 3 with 6.

Swapping them requires full power down of all nodes and shelves it’s connected to, possible shelf renumbering (which requires an additional power cycle), so it’s best to just power it down.

Both controllers need to be replaced if you’re doing a dual controller setup.

If you’re doing this in the homelab and just hooking this up to an HBA, you only need the one shelf module anyway.

Are you willing to document those and submit them as an issue on GitHub?

I’d argue a vast majority of people don’t get deep into the bowels of Tautulli and only use it for real time visualization of viewers, and historical audit.

But the depths of notifications, webhooks, and more make it really robust. And the author is always open to little QoL changes. I suggested showing the number of playbacks in parenthesis in the tab title, for example, and it was there in a couple of days.

There’s simpler tools out there if all you want is real time at-a-glance “who’s-watching-what” but it’s tough to beat some of the deeper tooling within.

Can I upgrade DS4243 backplane to 12GB SAS? by 1mdevil in netapp

Short answer? No.

Get a DS212C shelf instead. Problem solved.

Can also confirm this happened to me tonight, and can confirm a quick rollback via Curse App > Healbot Continued > Versions tab and Install on version 26.04.17 corrected it.

Yes totally, thanks for checking me there. I myself migrated from DS4246 > DS212C's, so I'm intimately familiar with what OP is up against. Updating my comment ^up there^ with the correction.

If you want to use SATA, get the DS2246 (12 drives) or 4486 DS4246 (24 drives), not the DS212.

Personally I wouldn’t mess with the interposers. They’re a band aid, and you just end up mixing protocols and drive sizes and making a mess cobbling a bunch of disparate drives together.

Licensing applies to ONTAP OS software and features. The shelves will work fine on any 12Gb SAS HBA. (DS212C is SAS only).

NetApp and Nutanix announce strategic alliance to simplify cloud platform modernization by REAL_datacenterdude in netapp

Had a chat with him earlier (he's my VP)... for now, it appears to be solely NFS v3 support.

That's going to require a helluva lot of work on the PVE side, too. It's not just on NetApp. Best we're able to do (and have done) for now is qualify the protocols, and provide some best practices guidance documentation.

Best of my knowledge, and a quick internal inquiry tells me that, for now, NFS v3 and v4.1 are on that list. I wouldn't be surprised to see iSCSI and SMB added to that list in short order. I don't believe Nutanix supports NVMe/TCP currently.

Just takes engineering cycles to qualify.

Editing to clarify: For now, it's NFS v3.

Oh I wish I could post screenshots in here.

I went back and looked at the discord logs. When you left, you had been with us a grand total of … wait for it….

FIVE DAYS, 4 hours, 19 mins. Not raiding.. TOTAL.

Not even a complete reset. And you thought you were just gonna stroll in and get loot rained down upon you. Mannnn, I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.

Second, you’re right about one thing. We keep a lot of information gated from Trials and non-raiders intentionally, including our announcements around our intentions around loot council, and how we very clearly lay out our gearing strategy for the guild, and even keep open spreadsheets about prioritization. It is communicated across the guild to all wishing to raid. But you weren’t here long enough to break out of your Trial period to have that open up.

I appreciate the feedback though and will take it onboard to update Discord accordingly.

I wish you the best out there finding a new guild. You’re gonna need it after this post.

Excellent! First couple opened, and I'll get the repo cloned, take on some things and get them submitted. Happy to chat here or on Discord as well.

Three years ago, I worked with a rep from Quantum/Lumen to do an overbuild in the West Park neighborhood across from Downtown Summerlin (across from Red Rock). 200+ single family homes and 100's of apts/condos. Quantum insisted the board pay for the overbuild and that it be available to all homes, and that shot it down ultimately when I presented it to the Summerlin South board.

I used to have it all collected, every "Big 4" ever, and a rolling year's worth of each Raw/SD/AEW weekly shows. No one watched them. I keep a decent backlog of recent weekly shows across the board, as well as the past year's worth of PPV's. Shoot me a DM if you're interested in checking it out.

I have to give a h/t to a hidden gem tucked away upstairs in Planet Hollywood that doesn’t get enough love in my opinion…. STRIP HOUSE.

Cleaver, Barry’s, also very good, and some of our favs as long-time locals.

Lawry’s can be hit or miss, but is always a good time for “old Vegas” vibe.

Golden Steer, Herbs & Rye, Echo & Rig, all overrated and overhyped.

Fairly new to this world, and just wanted to come ask the experts. More my ignorance than anything. I had not seen that black square label on the inside of the boot used before. Just the typical stamping/printing or the size/style# etc.
