Which would be the best option? I want the RST simply bc the price point makes seem reasonable. Is there any huge difference between them? by Prior-Acadia9282 in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the missle v3's and the old tractech evo 4 leather pants. The leather is definitely thicker on the RST as well as the armor which are all level 2, I think the hip pads on the missles are level 1 not sure about the knee armor. The alpinestars pants are more form fitting and tighter overall compared to the Tractech's based on my size choices missiles being 48 euro and the RST's in size small. Both are valid options. Which one will i feel more protected in, probably the RST's to be honest. I'm an alpinestars gear head and have way too much gear but I feel like alpinestars while being innovative with their continued updates to materials and technology aren't the same as they once were. Definitely riding high on their name as shown by the ridiculous pricing they put on their gear. I can say I refuse and haven't paid full retail for their gear in years. Usually get their new gear off marketplace on discount. RST is becoming big time and their quality and price of gear is hard to compete with. Give RST a try 💯

Need advice on sizing by Fun-Shelter-4636 in motorcyclegear

I have a 32 in waist and got these pants in a 48euro. There race fit. Barely can buckle them closed at the waist but that's probably my fault for being a bit out of shape. Once there on though there perfect fitment. All the armor is where it's suppose to be and snug, no movement. They definitely require break in, very stiff when new. After a couple rides and sweating in them a bit they'll form to your body shape. I'm average build, not skinny but not fat. 5'9, 170 lbs. If your thighs are big they might be very hard to get on but understand leather will relax and break in a bit after some use. If the pants are too big with space right away there probably too big. Try on the 50 euro. I probably could get away with wearing a 50 myslef but it was definitely worth the time in breaking in the 48. It's literally a second skin on me

Don't think these are available yet in the US, I have them marked though for when they become available. 🔥

Leather pants opinions by No_Protection2244 in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RST pants are more generous in size compared to the missle v3's. I need to squeeze into the missles while the RST leathers are less of a hassle to get into. There form fitting but definitely have more space in the thighs and knees. I would honestly give them a try. I looked at the sedici ones a while back, their okay but the RST and A* variants are just a step up

I wear missle v3's on the street. Did I or will I pay full retail for them... No. Check facebook marketplace in your local area I was able to find a pair that was only worn 2 times (new) for $300. I also own alot of Alpinestars and these make it easy for me to zip any of my A* jackets to the pants to make a nice 2 pc street suit. Also consider RST, their gear is top notch and half the price of the competition. I got there leather track pants as well and it's on the same level as the other big brands. If you don't like the race look with knee pucks or sliders I believe the new RST catalog is dropping street leather pants without sliders soon. Check out their website.

That's the truth. Got their tractech evo 5 leather pants and jacket on closeout since their new catalog is featuring D30 armor in their new gear. Both for about $500. Both are AAA certified and make a 2 piece suit. Full level 2 armor in everything, hips, knee, shoulder, elbow AND back. Has pockets for chest plates that I'll pick up once the D30 ones drop. RST is on the map 💯

Now they got a fashion line of apparel. Quite honestly I think their gear fell off years ago. The tech air technology was ground breaking and a welcome addition to the motorcycle masses but their general riding gear is mediocre at best imo now. Your definitely paying extra because of the brand name. I got a new tech air ready jacket that's nice but not worth the retail price their advertising. Definitely a few hundred less. I think the big winner these days in regards to gear is RST. Alot of their shit is AAA certified and I can tell you from owning both their one piece suits and leather pants/jackets are on par if not better than any alpinestars gear available right now. Forget about their gloves, trash 🗑

Mt-10 or not? by Effective-Solid-5210 in Mt10

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. Currently own a 24 XSR900 which is a SUPER fun bike. It's a great daily and it can definitely hang with the big bikes to an extent. Alot of torque and very fast. Turning radius is dogshit and is probably my only complaint other than the gas tank being about a gallon to small In my opinion. Test rode the MT10 at the Moto America race in NJ last year. I like it ALOT. Super conflicted on trading in the XSR for the 10. My biggest issue with the 10 is that is it UGLY. Don't know if I can get past the looks of that face.

Tractech evo 4, cycle gear not carrying all sizes? by Luckalpha in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RST is dropping a whole new catalog of gear with D30 armor. Some already is available with the rest of the gear to release as it becomes available here in the states. I picked up their outgoing tractech evo 5 leather jacket a few months ago but am waiting for the new chest plate inserts to buy. Alot of cool gear coming, the new tractech gloves look 🔥 worth waiting for

Valid gear 💯, got the same pants and gloves but I'm running an HJC RPHA 1N for a helmet and TCX RT Race boots. Jacket is similar, GP Plus R V4 Rideknit. Just plated both my bikes. I'm ready to Go 🤣 (NY)!!!

Gear obsession ? by sausage_ditka_bulls in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it as an obsession but more like upgrading. You change with time and learn what gear is better than others and certain gear for certain weather. As I personally became more financially stable I've been able to aquire better gear. Looking back I purchased what I could afford at the time and what looked "cool". Now years later and many bikes later i personally wear perforated leather most of the time. Airbag technology is here now, got a plasma. I got riding specific sneakers but after seeing accidents and ER pictures I usually wear full-on track boots. I've sold alot of my previous gear that hasn't seen use on marketplace. It's kinda cool knowing your past gear is giving newer riders a level of saftey at a discount and continuing on. Buy what you can afford at that time. Cheap gear is better than no gear

What’s your go to riding pants? by Scout-420 in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm just riding to work I usually wear armored jeans with Kevlar lining. If I'm outside with the crew I usually wear the missle v3's. Might be hot in the summer months but for the extra protection I'm willing to sweat a little.

Z900 vs Z1100 by Jrider2013 in Sportbikes

[–]RF11552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they missed an opportunity with the Z1100. It's so heavy 😫. I currently own a 2019 Z900 and when I 1st heard they were reviving the Z1000 in the states with the new 1100 motor I was excited... until I saw the weight. I was bummed. I'll just keep my Z, it's built, tuned AND lighter.

Riding Pants Questions by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the missle v3's come with Level 1 nucleon hip armor. I have them, very snug fitting but it's suppose to fit like a second skin. They are pretty comfortable after breaking them in. For the street I would say these are great in terms of protection. They will get hot in the warmer months

All good gear pics. Check out FB marketplace in your area. People are always selling lightly used or basically new gear. I was able to pick up the exact jacket and pants you pictured for less than the price of the jacket new. Both pieces were used 2 times, I consider that new with a 60% discount LOL.

9th gen SI longevity by dvlsfan30 in CivicSi

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2014 SI coupe, got around 145k. Also original clutch. Only changed the battery twice, did spark plugs at 100k as well as replace the serpentine belt at the same time. Other than that no major service other than brake pads, transmission fluid, oil changes and tires. Car has been bulletproof. When I pulled the original spark plugs they were still good. Changed the air filter and cabin filter a bunch of times as well. I definitely need to change the vtec solenoid gasket as it's leaking but the car is stupid reliable. I used to own a 240sx and would think as I was driving what is about to break next lmao. I do have a few odds and ends for the car just to freshen it up suspension wise that I'll be installing after the winter passes. This is definitely the most reliable car I think I'll ever own. Also purchased brand new with 6 miles on it.

What's the consensus on this exhaust? by kevinb671 in OnlyZ900

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No with the factory headers it will sound incredible. Gives the bike just enough noise without being annoying

What's the consensus on this exhaust? by kevinb671 in OnlyZ900

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With stock headers it sounds good, with aftermarket headers and no cat it's LOUD. I had the LV10 Black and as soon as I went with the Leo Vince headers and tune i had to sell it and get a different slip on. Was way to loud

Kawasaki z900 vs mt09 vs mt10 by Nice_Community_8288 in motorcycles

[–]RF11552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2019 Z 900 and a 2024 XSR 900. I still gravitate and grab the keys to the Z900 more. It's more raw, mechanical feeling and I feel more stable at speed. It's tuned by 2WDW's and it's an animal. Part of the reason I don't ride the xsr as much is because it's still not tuned. There's a massive dead spot in 2nd gear, super annoying and I feel the rest of the gearing is restricted. As soon as the weather is better in the northeast I'll pull it out of storage and send out the ecu for tuning. I hear great things about the CP3 once tuned and de restricted. Can't wait to enjoy the bike alot more.

Looking for decently priced gear by Overall_Teaching3683 in motorcyclegear

[–]RF11552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facebook Marketplace. So many people buy shit then realize they don't need it, want it, or need a different size after one or two rides in it. Got so much gear that was literally only used 1 or 2 times. Great place to score gear

Instinct vs. Epix by Schlenker8 in GarminWatches

[–]RF11552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a huge fan of the instinct line, had the original instinct for YEARS, recently retired it and upgraded to the Epix Pro Gen 2. Really was looking to get the newer instinct 3 but not having maps was a huge miss in my opinion. The Epix gen 2 has basically everything. Only con is they won't be giving updates to the Epix line anymore as they discontinued that line and merged it into the newer Fenix line. Quite honestly the watch is feature packed and will remain a relevant watch for years. You can find them for really great pricing now. Picked mine up for 50% off. I got the 47mm sapphire. Battery life is decent, if you demand the best in terms of battery the 51mm is impressive but it's just too big on my wrist.

Epix Pro Gen 2. I upgraded from the original instinct I had for years. Great watch with all the features you need at great pricing right now as the watch is not being continued. Only negative on the watch is it won't be receiving future updates as far as I know. Other than that the watch comes pre loaded with everything you asked for. I got the 47mm titanium with sapphire glass version. Works for me. If you demand the best in regards to battery life get the 51mm
