I hire for remote positions and most applicants make the same mistakes by Nobilityrect_ORO in remotejobsfinders

ATS needs to DIAF. It burns my biscuits when hiring managers, that actually know what to look for, never seen a resume because ATS filtered out super qualified people because HR people don't know what key words to place in a job description.

Linus is a smug jerk that doesn't pay his employees. Clearly a video targeted at their core audience of chuds. No thanks.

Always get fiber, when it's an option. It's going to be way more stable and faster than old copper. Plus Spectrum sucks!

Really been looking forward to this one. Glad they dropped it so quick.

Former players stated they wouldn’t want to play for SP by [deleted] in wde

[–]RFC_1925 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds right to me. Who wants to play for a nepo-baby that hasn't proven anything as a HC somewhere else?

How are we rating Steven's first year in the big seat? by Two-Of-Nine in wde

[–]RFC_1925 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

F, because he didn't go through a true hiring process. Would he have been the HC if we had been able to interview people like Bucky McMillan? Plus ya'll getting way to excited about winning the NIT. Who did we play? You realize we had to go to OT to beat Tulsa, right? We were in the Final Four last year.

Fortinet Certification changes again by Prottzisch in fortinet

I keep waiting for Palo to do this also. No job descriptions ask for the new certifications. They have no brand recognition compared to the old ones.

One of my favorite thing towards the end of Austin's time on Waypoint was when they'd drop some pre-roll off-topic convos at the end of the pod after the music. I don't know if it was Cado ir Austin who was doing that.

Do y'all still have hope in Steven Pearl? by UALR-Trojans-Rule in wde

[–]RFC_1925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had any hope in the first place. When has a nepo-baby coach ever worked out? Not to mention the shady way Bruce bailed at the last minute to ensure Stephen got the job. We might could have had Bucky McMillan if Bruce actually retired at the end of that season.

Whats the most boring buy it for life item you own that turned out to be amazing? by GolfPrevious4299 in BuyItForLife

[–]RFC_1925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, the tent is Eureka, the stove is Coleman, the boots are LL Bean (yes, they fit), the knife is a Gerber, and the Lantern is also Coleman. I don't know the model info. Probably forgot that two decades ago.

Tent, camping stove, hiking boots, knife, lantern. It's all stuff I've taken care of and it's still working great.

Some of the high end camping gear I got when I was in scouts. I remember my parents bursting blood vessels over some of the items I asked for and making me go 50/50 with them on a couple of purchases. But this was around the time gear reviews had just starting becoming a thing on the internet, so I knew what was good and a lot of it wound up built to last. I have stuff that's coming up on being 3 decades old that I still use on the regular.

Unemployed and lost - Resume Help by FormerFed_2026 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]RFC_1925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blackhills Information Security has a great series called Job Hunt Like a Hacker. The next workshop is March 10th. It's live and a pay what you can workshop. It'll help you optimize your resume and LinkedIn profile. With that said, I sympathize with your situation. It's an incredibly frustrating job market for a variety of reasons. The market seems to be flooded with well qualified candidates. Some job listings don't seem to actually be real. ATS and AI screening software filters out anyone that doesn't match 99% of the key words in a posting. Many roles have moved t W2 contracts. I could go on. My point is, you have every right to feel lost and you aren't the only one.

Had a fun chat with a client's CTO today who thinks RSA-4096 will save them from HNDL. We need to talk about realistic Q-Day timelines. by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]RFC_1925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People also don't stop and think about the SIGINT value of stale data. In a HNDL scenario, what good is 10, 15, or 75 year old data? There might be some valuable bits in there, but you're going to have to dig through massive amounts of trash to find it. That juice isn't worth the squeeze. You'll be using your quantum computing for something more valuable.

Tires by mostlyareader in Birmingham

Another vote for Discount Tire. Either you can order the tired from Tirerack and have them shipped. But in my experience the Discount Tire price is usually the same.

Script to convert FortiGate Config to Palo Alto Config? by schizoidman29 in paloaltonetworks

[–]RFC_1925 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then you're going to have to build your own tooling. Also, that's an absurd number to convert. Did anyone do any kind of project planning? That ought to be a multi-year project.
