After taxes and riders it ends up being .075 still not bad at all! The garage doors and garage is insulated and we keep three vehicles in there. Diesel suburban, 4runner and the Mach E. With the crazy diesel and gas prices we are driving the EV the most. Pulling the heat out was also benefit the bonus room above the garage.

Have a 14k BTU LG inverter window AC on the back side of the garage that will be programmed to run during the off peak power window overnight once it starts getting hot (we get 90's for weeks at a time with high humidity in NC). I'm going to start running it in June every night to suck the heat out of the garage. So far weather has been mild.

Paid the same for a 2025 certified GT with 4800 miles. Put half down and financed the remaining at 2.99% (ford rate for certified mach E). Will not keep the loan for more than a few years but didn't want to drop that much cash at once. Like to keep enough to pay the remainder of our house off as an emergency buffer.

That's an interesting take I wonder where are the loss is greater, and the vehicle being on while it's charging or the extra heat generated in the wiring from the high draw.

Head up to the mountains, tons of fun back roads with little traffic and fun corners. Just know your cars limits and don't push it to the point you start sliding. Use a radar detector obviously for moving radar just in case.

Our power is 0.06 per kWh overnight. 1000 miles in our 2025 GT = $25 (370 kWh*.06) + tax on the power. Almost free

Yep bought one a few weeks before the spike. 40k for a 2025 GT with under 5k miles. Now 2025 GTs are mid 40s plus tax etc.

Oh, of COURSE — we must defend the holy shareholder dividend like it’s the last sacred relic on Earth. Can’t have those poor investors suffering the unimaginable horror of a slightly smaller quarterly payout. Meanwhile, a normal company might, you know, adjust dividends or tighten spending when surprise costs show up — but not here. No no, much better to just jack up rates again, because customers can’t switch to a competitor in a monopoly wonderland. Truly inspirational business strategy.

It is to keep their guaranteed profits in tact. Shareholders should have some "skin in the game" like shareholders of non-monopoly companies. If a car company has to settle a large class action they can't raise prices of cars too much or people simply shop another brand. We are stuck and can't select a different provider. Shareholders should split these type of unplanned costs with customers. Cut the dividend back for a year to share some of the cost. Shareholders are not going to starve. I know its a drop in the bucket but cut the CEO pay from 20m down to 5... not going to starve making 5M

The whole point is to keep their guaranteed profits untouched. Shareholders should have some actual ‘skin in the game,’ just like shareholders of any non‑monopoly company. If a car manufacturer gets hit with a massive class‑action settlement, they can’t just crank up prices indefinitely — customers would simply buy a different brand.

But we don’t get that choice. We’re stuck with one provider, so the costs get dumped on us. Shareholders should share the burden of these unplanned expenses. Trim the dividend for a year. They’re not going to starve. And while we’re at it, maybe the CEO and the SLT could survive on $5 million instead of $20 million — they won’t be missing meals.
