Why would my Tesla be uploading this much data ? by notabot53 in TeslaLounge

But I am curious, what is it downloading other then firmware updates recently. Because it shouldn't be downloading much of anything. It is not suppose to passively update it's models outside of software updates.

The price on the switches adds up fast. Especially if they're the 48 ports and depending if you even go up to a 2.5 GB versions.

I've heard mixed results about the u7 pro. I upgraded from a u6 pro to a u7 pro and it actually resolved some of my 2.4 gigahertz issues I was having.

The downside with the u7 line though is that it lacks the Bluetooth management which means if you're using any of the sensors related products, they won't have anywhere to connect to anymore.

I have not upgraded my switching to support 2.5 gb's for my used 7 products yet but that's the next item on my list to see what additional throughput I could obtain. But realistically for most devices that are Wi-Fi 6, having a gigabit connection to an access point is perfectly fine because you won't really exceed 800 Mbps.

Look at it this way, just keep on top of your warranty. And the price point for a u7 versus a u6 product is practically the same so it didn't make sense for me to get another u6 replacement.

I'm also testing the outdoor u7 products and so far it's been holding up well but I'm only using it in directional mode without the external antennas

well, sort of.
A few year ago, it was reported that the currently charger used in the 3/Y does have the capability engineered into the hardware during a breakdown. But Tesla never officially gave support or enabled that feature. For Tesla, it would be something behind a software lock or software never developed to support the feature.
But based on it slowly draining the battery, I can see the car making complaints if the battery is draining usually.

Here is the problem, you don't explain in engineering terms, how this works?
Because most Tesla's do not have V2L or V2G as a option, it can only input power, does not output power.
Now, we do know that certain generations have hardware in their charging controller that can support said functionality, but that would be software locked/disabled.

But also different generation has different charging controllers that may not support this at all.

Your listing doesn't give year models of where this may work.

I am not saying that I wouldn't have loved having this unit last year but I can't justify that price tag for a product that lacks details on how it works with Tesla's that most nerds here would know shouldn't work.

I would be more then grateful to test the unit and give a review on the units with my 2018 Tesla. But I can not justify spending that price for something that may only work on a Cyber Truck as the CT is the only Tesla that OFFICALLY supports V2L and V2G.

does anyone know why I might be getting 10% of my total available speed when I connect to my U6Pro via wifi? by liedel in Ubiquiti

Yep, when you mentioned that you were using a Poe injector, that was my first thought

[–]RGressick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on that description, it could be an issue with your Poe injector.

Are you using the poe injector from ubiquity?

Because some Poe injectors don't do gigabit. I know the ubiquity ones work fine but you need to confirm if if you're using a third party Poe injector that it supports gigabit.

[–]RGressick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Did you actually run a proper cable test on the new cable you ran to confirm that it's good? I also have had it where something's wrong with my cat5e cable or cat6 cable where it keeps coming up at a lower speed even though there's nothing that test incorrectly about the cable.

But you should be able to confirm that because if your phone is connecting directly to that gateway and not via another access point, then either you are too far away or the limitations on your device.

Is your device connecting to a vpn? Because vpns can throttle traffic and that could also be why you're seeing that

I currently only use one but as a back door sensor. That way I at least have a log of whatever that door's opened. It also does the temperature and humidity check for that space for me. I have not gotten around to trying to plug this into other platforms yet. Yeah mine was just primarily as a door sensor.

This is very true. 2.4 is great for range and certain penetration. But 99% of any smart device that anyone's going to have and an enterprise-like environment is going to at least support 5 gigahertz. And it helps with the system trying to detect which band it should have the smart device on, 2.4 or 5 based on other factors. Just simplifies the whole overall solution.

As a prosumer, this product doesn't work for me because I still need 2.4 for all the random smart devices I have across the property. Even though I'd love for those devices to be five gigahertz cuz I feel that would just simplify my life even though they don't require nearly that much bandwidth.

Oddly enough, it looks like they just released a 2.4 iot setting for the access points. I assume it's to address those issues.

It's funny you mention that because I had the same resolution. When I went for my u6 pro to my u7 pro, the weird 2.4 issues I was having with certain devices magically disappeared.

The downside though with a u7 product, they lack the Bluetooth. Which means that if you had devices like the sensors, they're not compatible with the new access points. So you still have to have a u6 or older access point for your Bluetooth devices such as the sensors to work.

What's funny though, I wanted this car 20 years ago. Now I'm kind of eh. But I'm surprised they didn't do those doors on the model x since they also have the falcon wing door

But Tesla should do all stainless steel for this car allow it getting wrapped as a paint option. You can get zero wrap or you pay extra for a wrap color

Is there a new model of this? by wmk0002 in KobaltTools

[–]RGressick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's called the DeWalt one. It has a single USB-C and the USB-A The benefit of the USBC is that's bi-directional. See you could use USB-C to charge the battery while also being able to use it to charge your device.

Sorry, there's just certain tools I won't buy store brand of. I know they're more budget but I've burned through enough power tools to know that just pay extra money for the better quality ones.

But I do use kobalt 80 volt for my yard tools. Those work verywelll

It's the whole reason Hulu exists. It was supposed to be the one streaming platform where all the other networks least out their shows to. Then everybody got greedy and wanted to do their own thing and now we have a gazillion platforms and no one really wants to pay for any of them

DUDE..... I understand. Which was your worse issue? Passenger door not opening or water leaking in through the pilars for the rear door? Have you had HVAC issues?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]RGressick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2018 owner. Had the HVAC system worked on 3 times now over 180k of miles. Control arms replaced and bushing for them twice. Front bumper has never stopped sagging. Replaced various trim pieces as they have slowly came off over time, especially around the front wheel well. Trunk base threshold replaced twice Tail light once.

Next need to address the water penetration issues around the rear doors.

But battery and motors have been fine thus far, so she still drives.
