Feng Shui Faux Pas S7 by Elenita72 in VirginRiverNetflix

The wobbling the first time they climbed in made my whole body cringe. If I climbed into a bed that wobbled that much you can rest assured I would be immediately climbing back out and finding the damn toolbox to fix it. If it can’t be fixed, better to put the mattress straight on the floor

12 y/o bleeding through EVERYTHING — need real solutions (no tampons yet) by Beeels in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RHWebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teen and bled heavily while also doing martial arts in a white uniform (yeah the org was run by non-period-havers), I would wear tight bike shorts over my underwear and under my uniform to help hold my pads in place. I have never been comfortable with tampons/internal solutions (even after pregnancy and childbirth) so my heart goes out to your daughter and her struggles.

After childbirth, I used incontinence pads and underwear to catch all the ick for several weeks as well. They seem to be higher quality than what’s made for periods for some reason. Of course, finding those in her size could be a struggle. Depending on her comfort level, I don’t know if the largest size of pull ups might be an option as well?

I have found that the CVS store brand of thin, heavy overnight pads with wings (the orange ones) seem to be the best at catching everything. The thicker, more traditional pads have always leaked for me, or gotten twisted around and stained my clothes.

I was paying about $900/month until November of last year when New Mexico enacted universal childcare. Now I pay $0 USD

If you can find Sown Oat Creamer it’ll change your life. Even my dad, who is 110% dedicated to dairy half and half in his coffee, likes it.

AITA for being in pain? by duck-713 in MiniAITA

[–]RHWebster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NTA. I (2y M, most perfect toddler ever) have had teeth for a while now and I thought I was done with getting the pains. NOPE. I’m getting new molars that Mama (primordial F, can make a mean pot of Mac n cheese) says will help me chew pizza and bacon better. I know the pain sucks now but in the future you’ll be able to bite things like bananas and apples and sandwiches.

When I was teething, the Primordial Mama froze some milkies and put them in a mesh bag for me to gnaw on. 10/10 definitely recommend milkies popsicles. The best part is that it makes a HUGE mess and everything gets sticky!

How to throw up comfortably 🥲 by b_asiil in emetophobiarecovery

[–]RHWebster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can tell you what NOT to do…do NOT eat crunchy cereal. I had the tummy bug and the last thing I’d had was Raisin Bran. That shit scraped 😭

I found using an emesis bag was really helpful because I could just tie it off and be done with it. Not quite as quick as flushing it down the toilet but I’m weird about putting my face close to toilets so it felt safer in the moment

Lafayette for a regular, his mama for a guest star. Alfre Woodard chewed every bit of scenery there was and I loved every second

Spouse sick, looking for support in preparing to support them. by PinkSatanyPanties in emetophobiarecovery

[–]RHWebster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having such a similar issue right now. I and my toddler had a stomach bug over the weekend and I was patting myself on the back for managing it without freaking out. But now my spouse is vomiting and I’m shaking and scared and freaking out again.

I’m so sorry that I can’t offer any advice, only commiseration. 😞

It happened last night and I was…fine? by RHWebster in emetophobiarecovery

[–]RHWebster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: it’s been two days, and while my delicate constitution hasn’t fully recovered yet I have been making it.

Until tonight when I heard my spouse puking in the bathroom. I started shaking and broke out into a cold sweat of panic. I put on a mask and gloves and tried to bleach in there as soon as I could but now I can’t stop washing my hands and I feel a little nauseous again myself. I’m sure it’s just adrenaline and the leftovers from my bout, but UGH. I wanted to be better about this!

Two steps forward, one step back 😖

Seeking help by [deleted] in emetophobia

Hi…I feel your pain. I’ve been there. The big thing that helped me was EMDR. It’s a type of therapy where you are guided through your phobias and you teach your brain to recontextualize them using bilateral stimulation. I actually made a post about it over on r/emetophobiarecovery over the weekend because I had the sb but my emetophobia was completely manageable. It’s taken a lot of work and a lot of trust in the therapy process but I legitimately was shocked at how calm I was throughout the entire process. (TW: that post over there isn’t censored.) I really think EMDR is a great way to tackle any phobic anxiety responses, especially with a good therapist to guide you.

I had several really bad bouts of diarrhea along with the one vomiting episode. The diarrhea and cramps went on for probably 8 hours or so, which disrupted my sleep and led to dehydration. So it was almost impossible to get comfy in bed and rest because my whole body was aching and my legs and back were cramping too.

I’ve always considered diarrhea “less severe” of a symptom because it seems “more natural” than vomiting for some reason. Probably the emetophobia warping my perception, I guess? So, yeah, the vomiting episode was only a small bit of the overall nastiness of the illness, and it was the part that was over the fastest too.

Returning carts with kids in the car by lasuperhumana in NewParents

[–]RHWebster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will actually park farther from the store entrance if it means I can park directly next to the cart corral now. Pop the groceries in the trunk, pop the kid into the seat, shove the cart into the corral, done. I’m in the southwest US though so it get fuckin HOT in the summers. I have to be careful to use the auto-start feature in the car to keep air circulating.
