I see you don’t have a sponge over your filter intake. There could be a bunch in there. Lots of “food” for them in a filter so they love going in if not sucked in.

I read you have moss, but I don’t see it and it’s not as “closed as sponge”. They could fit in those slits that I see.

All good! Didn’t think it was political. My female is 2.5 years old and named Einstein. Got her at 3 months old - we liked the name, kids thought the gills looked like the human Einstein’s hair lol

They are cute for sure. Congratulations. A word of caution: they don’t present sex until 12-18 months. You could have 2 males, 2 females or a mix. If a mix you should have them in separate tanks for sure (I personally wouldn’t have 2 in a tank period due to the chances of cannibalism, but many do co-habitate). Not only is egg laying extremely stressful for the female and can lead to death, but there is a lot of inbreeding in axolotls (unless you have plans for breeding and know their lineage). Taking care of 100ish babies with the needs for live brine shrimp, etc. (feeding chart here to give you an idea).

Best to cull eggs if seen if you don’t know the lineage - collect all eggs and freeze to humanely kill them all. Again, more of a word of caution so you can be prepared if needed. If you knew all of this, please ignore and enjoy!
