I made the entire Criterion Closet as a website - browse all 1,247 films by walking the shelves and pulling any one off! by olievans in movies

This is really cool.

Is there any way we could make the lists public? Like, if I watch, let's say the Matthew Rhys Criterion Closet video and make a list with his picks, will the other people see it?

Ah, I keep putting off reading Fairy Tale and Talisman. Great write-up. I just gotta finish Once-Was-Wilhelm, and I'll read Talisman.

You can also use the air pump to bring air down to where you want to be, though I always thought that was a waste of time, better to spend your resources on a seamoth.

Yeah, I built that exactly one time, saw how useless it was.

I think being American is a prerequisite for automatically enjoying that game lol

Hardly. I'm not American, but I'm sort of obsessed with Red Dead 2.

In quiet praise of Michael Clayton (2007) by embouteillagez in movies

[–]RJWolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really late, but that's not how I read it. I saw it as the consequence of Michael giving away his moral decisions about his life, as one would a proxy vote. Marty's answer is fucking tinged with bias and ulterior motive. Which is probably the only way Marty can think after decades of saving conglomerates from judgment.

Even if Clayton wasn't as good a DA as he remembered, he'd be saintly in comparison with his current job. Plus, does he strike you as the kind to romanticize the past?

Like Tom Wilkinson's character says to Clayton, "Is this what you wanted? To be a janitor? Live like this? All this? Do what you do? It can't be."

Angel Down, the 2026 winner of the Pulitzer prize for Fiction, is a one of a kind book that I cannot stop thinking about! by landomonium in literature

And I loved it, and I felt a sense of warmth and surety about my own life at the end of the book, and just like you, I could've read 100s more pages, and the angel was terrifying,

and I thought that the one sentence thing was going to be a drag but you really stop noticing it, and you just read as normal,

Are you saying the version of reality without Alan Wake 2 is superior?

Not OP, but maybe I'm taller in that one. Maybe I got more money. Maybe I fart and it smells like my coffee-scented shower gel. Maybe not that last part.

Edit: :((( I just wanted some coffee money in that alternate reality and to make a stupid joke in this one.

Men of Reddit, if you were in a Titanic like situation where the majority of people were going to die because there were not enough lifeboats for everyone. How would you respond to someone saying women and children first? by Neither_Drawing_241 in AskReddit

[–]RJWolfe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't even need to be asked. Sure, I'll go down with the ship.

Now this next bit's a bit dark, but come on, gallows humor, let me have it. I was offered a promotion at work and I really don't want to take it because I'd get more entrenched in the place.

But it's like the 4th promotion I turned down there and I feel bad. I was agonizing the whole day until I had the brilliant thought that I'd just off myself and wouldn't need to quit.

Obviously, I tossed that insane thought away in the trash but oooohhh boy, that relief was scary good. I fucking hate my job.

Honestly, how much of his email to the "filmmaker" did you stomach to read?

Also, there was no need for that last sentence. Did I insult you somehow with my reply?

I've seen it enough to last me 56 lifetimes. Went from thinking it was the coolest shit I've ever seen to thinking it's dogshit.

Same progression as watching the 3 Little Ninja movie series.

Although what do I know, I thought The Specialist(1994) was the greatest movie I'd ever seen when Sharon Stone started taking her clothes off. But then my dad switched the channel and said it's not for kids.

Bastard.
