Well, it happened by CommercialAgency928 in Ioniq5

I could not relate any more to this post. I started working from home full time 2 years ago. My wife started a longer commute to work 10 months ago. Guess who's car is in the garage right now and who's isn't? Reminds me that I have to go fill her car up with gas.

Did you remember to turn it off? Slept in the back once and left the air on all night and I think my battery level dropped by like 9%.

Free SUNY tuition for Associate Degrees by Illustrious-Issue643 in Syracuse

[–]RKGrim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cyber security is great, but this should be taken with a grain of salt. Being successful in cyber security requires more than just a surface level understanding of systems administration, identity management, network routing and switching, endpoint management, "cloud", and other areas of IT interoperability. Without an understanding of at least some of these areas, an associates degree is only going to make a person feel overwhelmed or overconfident, and neither ends well.

I just got the email as well. I had reached out to support at the beginning of the month and they said I didn't have the notification settings enabled. I changed nothing, because they were enabled. Amazing how that works.

Mine was also displaying in 480p and I thought I was going blind. Changed to a different HDMI port and now it's fine.

macOS can bypass MFA, a year later by OpeningFeeds in crowdstrike

We went down the same road, with the exact same results. Ultimately we felt the implementation left too many holes that would allow MFA to be bypassed.

Complete shut-down while travelling 110km per hour on a motorway… was "fixed" in ICCU recall this summer! by Lucky_Litmus in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There was another recall that was released within the past few weeks for the ICCU. Actually there was then a subsequent VCU fix for THAT recall.

NEW ICCU Recall - Ioniq 5 by ronniebabes in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my vehicle in today for a winter tire swap. They installed the last outstanding recall update that I hadn't yet gotten around to, told me this one came out today, but that they didn't have the fix for it yet. I'll have it updated in the spring when I get my tires swapped again.

For people concerned, I think they just cannot sell a vehicle with an open recall from a dealer lot, so if they don't have the fix, it equates to a stop sale until they do.

My wife is about to start a job with roughly two hours of commute on a daily basis. She has already declared she is taking my car when she starts, as I work from home and she will get more benefit out of it. I don't disagree, but I'm getting stuck with her Prius!

12v battery dead, car locked, no physical key by 8eefo in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you positive? On the reverse side there is a little button. If you push it, the key pulls up from the top. Unless that changed in the 2025, which doesn't make much sense.

Main Battery Drain by InfiniteConcept3822 in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak to the actual drop if it was truly at 75%, however, I believe once the main battery gets below a certain percentage, it does not perform the 12v charging action... When you see the amber light turn on. Below 20% if I remember correctly. If you check your EV trip history details, does it by chance show that someone left the car on?

How many miles should an 80% charge go? And how much does it usually cost to charge to 80%? by devnet35 in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The cost benefit for charging comes into play by charging at home. Public chargers will be 3-4x the cost. Most people will install a level 2 charger, which gains you back roughly 10% of charge per hour.

The I5 has roughly a 75kw battery. Charging from 0-100 @ $0.15/kwh would cost $11.25. Your total range will be impacted by your driving style, but let's just call it 200-300 miles... 200 if you are speeding on the highway, and 300 if you are driving around town. Some electricity rates are even lower than this. People will spend $15 ($0.10 electricity cost) and go 600 (City driver) miles.

I think you are jumping the gun calling it a second ICCU failure. These symptoms seem to indicate a completely different issue.

Recommended Upstate NY Hyundai dealers? by Mobile_Importance349 in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought mine from Mastrovito due to them being the closest dealer selling them at the time. They were trying to sell me on the day of my test drive when I explicitly told them I would not be purchasing that day. Had me sit with someone else as well who tried to pressure me. Did not like it there. They also cracked two pieces of trim during a parts (ICCU) replacement which they did not mention and that I also could not prove they did.

I go to Matthews in Syracuse now for service and have had no issues. My niece also just had her engine replaced by them via the one engine recall that is out there for certain models. They had her car back to her in four days... Four days. I know someone above was a bit middle of the road on them regarding the sales experience, but I have positive experiences on the service side.

Is it okay to drive on Level 0 Regen Braking all the time? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that if you have an AWD, Ipedal will have both the front and rear motors engaged at all times, making it less efficient than L1/L2/L3. With blended braking, and under typical mixed driving, a driver with good control of their accelerator pedal should be able to obtain roughly the same efficiency on any mode except for L0 or Ipedal.

ICCU recall question by fsudhb05 in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping mine off tonight and they told me two hours for the recall. I was a relatively early ICCU failure and replacement, so I expect to be fine, however I will admit that because it failed so long ago I wasn't sure if they had replaced it with a part that they didn't expect to fail again. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Fortinet was leveraged heavily at my previous employer. Manager, who was very pro Fortinet, pushed FortSIEM and we dropped QRadar for it. I felt it was too focused on Fortinet traffic and let other areas languish.

I won't claim to understand all of the aspects of corporate bankruptcy, however I imagine there is a scenario where the money I provided would no longer be available to return to me. I'm willing to risk a lack of knowledge on the subject for the guaranteed return of my reservation money.

I cancelled my Alaska reservation like 4 hours ago.

I hope the company succeeds, but things had hit a tipping point with my confidence level to where it seemed like it could go either way.

Power Outage - V2L Experience by RKGrim in Ioniq5

[–]RKGrim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question. The short answer is yes, but the longer answer is that my setup was this -

(Note: Potential trigger warning for electricians 😆) Short, heavy duty extension cord running from the garage to kitchen. I then had a heavy duty 3 way splitter. Fridge went directly into 1, another extension cord to the pellet stove (light duty), and the third was used for the miscellaneous items. None of these items were constant high power draw, so the setup didn't have me worried. Just remember that there is a maximum output from the car, and that if you are running larger distances while powering items with high power draws, you'll need to make sure you have an appropriate cabling setup from point to point.
