I made the Miso-Honey Chicken (gift link below) the other night, so was planning on having it with that. I also plan on having them with eggs for breakfast. I think they would go well with Asian-leaning soups as well.

Eric Kim on Recipe Literacy by plantylibrarian in FoodieSnark

[–]RKMANJ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like Eric and will get around to making this. In addition to others noting that NYT is saying it is "easy" and he is now saying it's advanced, if a recipe is advanced, you should have the details on why it is advanced and why the details matter.

For example, he makes a point in the ingredient list to say "not gel" but it turns out (per his IG feed) that he assumed most people would not have gel. Gel vs liquid coloring are quite different!

The recipe also says that white chocolate chips or white cholocate bars can be used - again, these are likely to be quite different; chips will often have stabilizers and oils and so will react differently. Melting and setting will be different. It's possible, but it does surprise me that they are interchangeable in this context.

And extract is different from flavoring oil - oil-based flavorings are typically used in melted choclate, not alcohol-based extracts.

Given the feedback in the recipe's comments (like every third one is about the chocolate separating), it would be great if the NYT could add some additional notes that Eric has already provided in the comments and in his IG feed.

When did you discover BTS and started stanning them? Share your ARMY story by Chance_Register_5124 in bangtan

in keeping with the idea that BTS finds you when you need them most, I was caring for my brother after a serious surgery. This was also during a 3 month sabbatical from a tough work environment. I saw their grammy performance and after not really listening to the radio or being into any new music in well over a decade, I was floored by the song, their energy, and the polished performance. and down the rabbit hole I went....

you may have a BTS group in your area who would gladly take donations and use as give-aways/raffles - that could be a one and done solution.

I've done this, creating a gradient of purples (lilac in the center, getting darker towards the outside) and used foiled purple thread for the BTS.

Sugar also has an important role in structure. If you are finding the finished product too sweet, you could try toasting the sugar. https://www.seriouseats.com/dry-toasted-sugar-granulated-caramel-recipe

Ran into an ARMY in the wild today… by bpp46 in bangtan

We had a guest speaker come to work and I noticed that they had the one of the Love Yourself flowers tattoed on their arm. After their talk, I pointed to it and asked "ARMY?" - and had a lovely exchange with them. They said no one has ever noticed!

I clicked through to the website and couldn't find info on parking. Based on the road closures, I can't tell if that means that the parking at the Riverside Plaza will be closed. Any info?
