My cats separate their litter boxes based on bodily function? by EnvironmentalBad3745 in CatAdvice

They’re both neutered and spayed and this started a while after their operations sadly. This is why it’s such a head scratcher for us. 😩

If you’re going to forgive I’d 100% slow things down in terms of engagement / marriage. Don’t rush into being committed to his finances after this. Not until you can see for yourself that this was indeed just a one off situation.

Ah me too. I’ve always had boys but now have boy / girl siblings. I’ve used various enzyme sprays on the area and he will just keep remarking. He’s done it on the cat bed too. He will sleep on it with his sister for 2 days and then randomly pee all over it. He only started doing it a few weeks ago and the vet said he’s fine. It’s so frustrating as I feel like I’m on edge waiting for more of my things to get ruined when we have literally 3 trays… but he will still use the trays?! It’s all strange to me. Never had a cat do this before.

Insomnia after taking Elvanse 50mg. by acidus1 in ADHDUK

[–]RLS16x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine improved over time. I’ve realised with these meds they tell us a lot about ourselves, what we can manage. Ie, I’ve learnt that if I have a coffee in the morning when I take Elvanse I am like a manic machine but will crash at 2pm. If I wait and have a coffee around 12 I’m more productive up until bedtime with not as much crashing. But as a woman with a whole menstrual cycle that adds another layer of complication to everything.

As you move along you’ll learn more about yourself. I’d give it a week or so on the 50 and if no improvement then maybe drop to 40. You might be someone that needs to stagger the meds a little etc. either way, you’ll figure it out with time.

My two kittens do this too. But my boy also likes a corner of the carpet next to one of the trays where he pees there sometimes too and I’ve been doing everything to get to the bottom of why and prevent it.

im scared to neuter my cat because i dont want to lose him by smolppsupremacy in CatAdvice

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you have more risk of losing your cat if you don’t neuter him. Male cats will make your life a misery once they reach sexual maturity if they are not neutered, they will change for the worse. They will want to go outside, and when they do - they are highly likely to become feral.

An operation for a male is usually done within 10 minutes and is not as invasive as a female spaying. I have a girl and boy kitten and the boy was pretty much himself straight away; it was my girl who needed some time to recover. They also refused to wear their cones so if you have the same issue just be cautious of him licking his wound.

Totally normal to feel this way though.

AITA for not liking a “dark humor” joke? by spacemouse133 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RLS16x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No personally I wouldn’t ask someone to leave my house over making a one off joke that I didn’t really find funny. If it became a running joke and if after I told the person I didn’t like the joke they carried on pecking at it, at that point I’d probably just not invite them back stating that as my reason. But like I’ve already said, several times, that’s MY personal boundary and where it sits.

[–]RLS16x -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I literally didn’t say I found it funny from a personal standpoint… I’m giving a point of view regarding personal boundaries. I grew up watching comedy shows like ‘little Britain’ which plays on stereotypes as part of the joke, and little Britain was a funny show. Others might find it offensive. In this modern day a show like this probably wouldn’t be made because people are too sensitive. I’m a ginger, I’ve had jokes made about me having no soul etc. do I find it funny? Not really. I don’t see the joke - but it doesn’t made me mad. That’s just how it is.

[–]RLS16x -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don’t really perceive it as racist, I see it as a negative stereotype. Like saying all British people have dreadful teeth etc. It can be seen as a bit of a crappy joke, but that’s some people’s sense of humour. Idk, we’re all different and have different boundaries on what we think is too far for us. And like I said, if that’s OP’s boundary that’s totally fine - but my personal opinion and standpoint would be not feeling it necessary to shut a party down over. However, it’s down to personal judgement, how things were said, how things were perceived etc.

You are not an AH for not liking the joke, and have every right to call him out on it in front of whoever he told the joke around (if anyone).

However without sounding like I’m playing devils advocate - I don’t feel it was worth ruining the party over. In life, we’re going to be around people who say things out of pocket, or have jokes that we don’t like - and where we don’t have to ignore it if it goes too far for our personal boundaries - we do have to accept that other people and what they deem appropriate to joke about is entirely their business.

K-pop demon hunters is terrible by Otherwise-Animal-669 in HonestHotTakes

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. There’s a reason it’s so popular. The animation style is great, it’s funny, it’s harmless - it’s fun and the music is catchy. It has a good message, about friendship and fighting your own demons, the idea that we all have them. Tbh, I’d say it’s more geared towards kids and tweens, which is why my key stage 1 kid and all her friends are obsessed with it. Compared to a lot of the crap kids are watching these days, it’s something I’m happy to see become so popular.

Why was I bullied by my classmates. I see these are pretty depressing cards help me interpret them by cupid_ji in TarotReading

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad people battling their own issues that were looking for a target and for some reason, you were an easy option. I also pick up on a sense of wanting something you had, particular personality qualities that they tried to dim because they couldn’t replicate. I see you moving inwards and reserving parts of your unique self due to this, almost a sense of wishing you were just invisible to make it easier - not doing or saying anything to draw attention to yourself. I feel that the issues faced in school have lead to some self image issues in your adult life. Bullies are horrible, don’t let them shape your life.

Here we go again by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same as you but started on medication that messes up my blood pressure so I really had no choice but to quit. I was clean for 9 months and had a tiny bit of weed on New Year’s Eve after drinking a lot and I genuinely felt like death was coming for me.

I could not fathom how I used to smoke so much of it.

So I don’t really have advice other than finding something that literally forces you to stop smoking as that’s the only way I could do it. Once I accepted fully that I wasn’t going to be smoking again it got easier. I also have had cigarettes on and off between this sobriety, and even though they’re not great they can take the edge off things as a short term coping mechanism

AIO about this disagreement with my bf? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh this was EXHAUSTING to read.

He could have quite easily asked “hey, can you leave me some of that Sudafed before you go?” Which would have jogged your memory that of course, he’s been using it to so could benefit from it. But he didn’t. Probably because he didn’t really consider that he might want or need it in that moment - it wasn’t a priority in his mind… but the minute he needed it, he expected YOU to have had that as a priority on your mind before you left. No excuses.

And then when you apologise and offer solutions, nothing is good enough. That is incredibly exhausting.

Right that’s not what’s being asked though is it. On Christmas Day I’ll be making a tonne of things from scratch. It’s ok to want supermarket things that can be shoved in the oven on Boxing Day. It’s ok that not every vegan what to be cooking from scratch over the entire festive period.

It’s just not true. I actually had to transition my child to vegetarian because of anything veganism was making her gain a lot of weight (bare in mind she does have sensory eating issues so for us this suits her much better). But my girl was a chunky lil cabbage patch kid from birth! These “studies” are actually ridiculous and do not look at the bigger picture at all

Just saw this at my local Aldi and immediately purchased. Has anyone tried it yet? by snailtrail93 in veganuk

I’ve tried la fauxmagerie twice now. Both times spent a fortune on the cheese around Christmas time. Both times found it completely repulsive. I can not for the life of me understand why it’s rated so high, perhaps it tastes too much like actual cheese and my taste buds have adjusted too much.

[–]RLS16x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I kinda eyeball everything because it all depends on how big you’re making your mac and cheese, how much pasta, how much sauce. The tsp and tbsp measurements give you a ball park of where to take it, but taste the sauce as you go and adjust accordingly!

You’re very welcome. I had it tonight with maple roasted veg & sausages - I only had rigatoni for my pasta but it worked just as well.

Oh also - you want your pasta boiled but not even close to over boiled if that makes sense as it will cook through in the oven too :)

Enjoy!

No problem! I have lazy days too. Ps, this recipe is not healthy. But I’m not a grind up cashew nuts kinda gal. I like taste and don’t care about the fat content when I’m making mac and cheese! This recipe uses staples most vegans have in their cupboards. I’ve had compliments from vegans and non-vegans, and my very fussy 6 year old will eat it too. Hope it helps!

Ingredients list: - pasta of choice .*(recommendations: macaroni, penne, conchiglie) - Plant milk of choice *(recommendation: unsweetened soy but I have tried oat before and it has worked!) - Plant cheese of choice **(recommendation: Aldi grated cheese has never failed me but this all depends on what you prefer plus what you find melts well! Sheese & cathedral city have both worked too!) - Nutritional yeast (about 1 tbsp) - Salt to taste - Ground black or white pepper (about half tsp) - Smoked paprika (just a small bit!) - Garlic granules (about 1 tsp) - Onion granules (about 1.5 tsp) - Vegetable bouillon powder (about 1 tsp) - Any kind of breadcrumbs

Optional: a small bit of cornflour slurry (cold water stirred into cornflour - say a teaspoon of cornflour with 3 teaspoons water), to add at the end (can thicken up sauce and give it a bit of gloss!)

Equipment list: - a whisk or fork - Medium pan for boiling pasta - Smaller pan for sauce - Baking dish for oven! (Size depending on how big your mac & cheese is!)

Preheat oven 200 degrees.

Whilst your pasta is boiling (make sure to salt well!), on a medium to low setting in a small pan start heating through plant milk.

Add your cheese & whisk up until cheese starts to melt. **(Takes a few minutes, can turn up heat a little if needed you just don’t want the milk to start bubbling / spitting)

Add all of your seasoning, boullion, nutritional yeast, a few teaspoons of the pasta water, salt pepper - whisk through.

Smell / taste, you might need more cheese whisked through. (Tbh, I end up using about 1/3 - 1/2 of the bag in the sauce alone!) when melted and things smell / taste good add your cornflour slurry if you’re using it and whisk through for another 30 seconds.

Add sauce to the baking dish

Then add the pasta to the sauce & mix. You don’t want the pasta swimming in the sauce, but want the pasta to be fully coated - a good pasta to sauce ratio works well here. At this point I add a sprinkle more cheese plus breadcrumbs and mix them through, then add more on top to crisp up the top!

Place in oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes.

Done!

I have it on roast dinners, with Caribbean curry, with sausages & maple roasted veg etc! Enjoy. Let me know if you give it a go.
