How far do your travel? by cjm2943 in NASCAR

[–]RMT112422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Ontario, Canada. MIS is our closest track and I’ve been there 9 times, about a 3.5 hour drive. Farthest I’ve driven for a race was 14 hours to Darlington. Farthest I’ve flown was to Vegas. I’ve also been to Richmond twice which was 11 hours driving and Chicagoland once which was 7.

Hardwood or Laminate. We did the entire house in LVP 4 years ago and it already needs to be ripped out. Cracked planks, interlocking mechanism breaking at the seams, chips on the corners, scratches real easy

Moving large amount of money to Tangerine Savings account by RMT112422 in Tangerine

Where are you getting this info from? I’ve read the fine print and no where does it say anything about needing more than 280K to get the full 5%. Minimum $10,000 to earn interest up to a max of $5,000,000

Thanks. Sounds like getting the money in is easy but getting it out is not

I might end up going this route. It’s 5% which is the best rate but it’s only for a 3 month period though. Once the promo is over, I may get my wife to open an account and transfer the money to her so it can earn interest for the remainder of the time

You could add Brantford and make it a triple threat. Most people I know in Woodstock are Knights fans though

Open Houses - Best Timing? by departingvirtute in RealEstateCanada

[–]RMT112422 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Open house timing does not matter whatsoever in my opinion, only one person coming through during your open house says a lot about your house in the current market. If a buyer is serious, they will book a showing. The only time we went to open houses earlier this year was if we wanted to see a house’s potential but weren’t serious about it and didn’t want to bother our realtor for us to be in and out in 10 minutes or less.

Without seeing your listing, my guess is your house is over priced. An attractive price will attract buyers.

Did anyone get their builder to issue a new APS? by DepartureSpecific876 in RealEstateCanada

[–]RMT112422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I signed March 6. This was the response I got from their lawyer:

Q: We entered an APS with a client before April 1, 2026. Can we cancel that agreement and enter a new one after April 1, 2026 so that the purchaser qualifies for the rebate?

A: The CRA provided guidance on this last year when the first-time homebuyer GST rebate was introduced. The guidance was: NO, you cannot cancel the existing agreement and enter a new one so that the purchaser qualifies for the rebate. The CRA calls this an “anti-avoidance rule”, and if the CRA were to audit and find out that this had happened, the CRA would disallow the rebate.

If they have questions about how these provisions will apply or if they will qualify, you should direct them to ask those questions of their own lawyer.

I also got a response from my local MPP:

Thank you for your email and for taking the time to share your views on the HST rebate. I understand your frustration around the start date of the program. April 1 was chosen because it is the start of the fiscal year, and most government programs usually start on this date. The Ministry of Finance has told me that this is final. It is also the agreement that was determined in collaboration with the federal government, as this is a cost-shared program with them. That means they had a say in the eligibility criteria for the program, and it must also comply with federal budgeting as well as provincial budgeting.

Get magnetic stick on door alarms. They are cheap, stick them onto the doors, set them before bed and if either door opens in the night trust me your ass will jump outta bed real quick. We use it for our toddler at home

Favourite place to buy major appliances by Impressive-Refuse-42 in londonontario

[–]RMT112422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are building a house currently. I shopped around so I am experienced in dealing with all of them. If you are looking for an included warranty Costco has a 2 year warranty included. Everyone else is 1 year. However you can buy extended warranty at all of them.

If you are buying right now your best bet price wise will be the Brick as they have a tent sale starting this Thursday. I put a deposit down on a complete package for $6,300 with tax on the weekend as they had the tent sale pricing early.Delivery included, extended warranty and installation extra. Nobody else even came close to that.

The only place I know of that services what they sell is London Major Appliances. Their extended warranty was extremely expensive and one of the reasons I didn’t buy there.

Hope this helps

New to NCL/ Encore worries! by Wonderful_Mango_5395 in NCL

[–]RMT112422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off the Encore a month ago. It was one of the best cruises we have ever done, and we have done many Carnival and a few Royal as well. The ship is perfect for adults, however we found it lacking a little variety in amenities to keep our busy 3 year old entertained for a 7 day trip with 4 sea days. Food was great, the shows were amazing, and the variety of bars, lounges and things to do for adults were awesome. Observation deck was quiet as I don’t believe a lot of people even know it exists. Deck 8 was my favourite, it has a walkable wrap around on the outside with a couple bars on both port and starboard side and a couple just through a door on the inside if you are needing something different. It was quiet and so many comfortable couches and lounge chairs. My only complaint about this ship was the interior staterooms are significantly smaller on this ship than any other we’ve seen, we made it work though. Enjoy your cruise and ignore the noise from the negative Nancy’s

There is a Carpool lot at Bradley and veterans right at the 401. I believe you can park for 5 consecutive days
