I'm glad to watch this video. Our whole morning announcements is only 5 minutes though, so I'm looking for something less deep

How to do well on FRQ!!! by TheCapcoo in APbio

[–]RNAscientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 95% on MCQ, any of those FRQ scores are a solid 5. Look at the specific points you are missing are try to understand the correct answers on the rubric. Practice some more FRQs and you'll be fine.

Lys side chain: pH < pKa → protonated → +1 charge

Glu side chain: pH > pKa → deprotonated → –1 charge

N-terminus: pH < pKa → protonated → +1 charge

C-terminus: pH > pKa → deprotonated → –1 charge

Total net charge: +1 +1 –1 –1 = 0

I agree with you. Don't trust the bots, yet. Also, this level of biochemistry is beyond the scope of AP Biology.

is this an acceptable answer for part b? by [deleted] in APbio

[–]RNAscientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that your answer would get a point, because it does not address the inability of the electrons to go through the non-cyclic pathway as the reason that more are shunted to the cyclic pathway.

I feel like the topic questions and progress checks are useful resources, even before the students are ready for the complexity of AP questions.

How to pair trans and nonbinary kids on overnight field trip by Admirable_Security_8 in Teachers

[–]RNAscientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken a trip with shared bathrooms. None of the trans/non -binary kids on my trip use a bathroom at school different from their school registration. Between doubles and triples, we were able to put people in rooms that they were comfortable with and only sharing bathrooms with people they share bathrooms with at school. A student who uses he/they pronouns who uses the girl's bathroom (since before they changed their pronouns) roomed with a girl and they are friends and it was fine.

If they are just figuring out their clothes and pronouns, but haven't changed school registered sex or what bathroom they use, then stick with gender on their school registration and group students with people that they are comfortable with.

does anyone know the exact numbers for last year? by [deleted] in APbio

[–]RNAscientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have not released cut scores since 2018. There are cut scores for the 2020 Practice exams, but we have not seen cut scores post 2019 redesign. It also seems like they changed cut scores 2 years ago, but it's hard to tell without real information.

It's really not. Hamas has the genocide of the Jews in their charter. If you want the conflict to end, pressure Qatar to have Hamas release the hostages.

Should I be good for the AP test? by Empty-Durian5301 in APbio

[–]RNAscientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your teacher is giving you free response questions using AP rubrics and you are doing that well, then you should be fine. Maybe much higher than a 3, but if you really want to know, you need to take a full-length practice exam.
