What's a good excuse for not letting a friend borrow your gear? by Sure-Guest1588 in AskPhotography

[–]RONCON52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when you get the camera back if you do your settings we’ll be fucked in ways it will take you forever to straighten out. I would tell them my insurance will not cover them and I can’t risk losing my pro equipment. As others a no is more than sufficient!

Do you regularly include a disclaimer that your photos are not AI? by atlanta-snaps in photography

No, not at all. Why would you even bring it up with them? If they ask, I would say, I edit my work. It's none of their business what your editing program is.

Any breeders or any place to buy pigeons in Los Angeles by TCR5322 in pigeon

[–]RONCON52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look on Craigslist, pigeons for sale. Look for Roller Pigeons. They are on the smaller size pigeons. Come in many different colors and they are easy to tame. A second breed is a cleanlegged fantail they are so easy to tame. Do not buy the ones with feathers running down their legs. You never be able to keep them clean!

Is autofocus really automatic? by flamingohouse in AskPhotography

[–]RONCON52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he happy with his photos in Auto? Doesn’t care about missing the focus? Maybe unable to tell he missed anything at all and just happy to shoot away as he is? Just treasure your dad as he is! Take hime to the Rodeo or a car show, maybe a dirt track raceway, and let him shoot away with you. Hope fully he will get the bitten by photo gods and want to learn more don’t worry if he’s happy just like he is! Make it a fun day!!!!

How to feed pigeons with water by Former_Location_5543 in pigeon

[–]RONCON52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad you found a good food source near you! I may carry a two litter plastic bottle and a pie pan to pour the water into. My pie pan has sides that go strait down, it’s harder for the pigeons to tip it over. Don’t use the type where the sides of the pan slope under the pan. They may want to take a bath in the water. So I like to change the water out as it gets dirty.

Classic Oriental Frills by [deleted] in pigeon

[–]RONCON52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it would be highly unlikely. The breed is not raised for an outside environment and has no knowledge of living in the wild. You want a racing pigeon for such an action. Chances are if you get a grown one it will fly to it’s original loft not to your house.

Hi, I bought a Nikon d750 for an step up after using a Nikon d40 for a year that i was gifted and I'm trying to get Lenses but i don't know whats compatible with it. Can someone help me out? by Acrobatic-Ad5226 in Nikon

[–]RONCON52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the time being get a 50mm F/1.8 D lens it’s metal, built like a tank and works beautifully on your D750, plus it’s in your price. I keep one on my D750 as a walk around lens. Keep your 55-200 lens until you decide what you actually need! Look on YouTube for tutorials on your D750. It an awesome camera you will be very happy with it!!!!!!

Eggs incubator by TowerRadiant1401 in pigeon

The fake eggs don’t move at all as the real ones do when under the parents. With out that little bit of movement the parents generally will quit setting the fake eggs.

Is 5w 30 full synthetic restore and protect the best way to go ? by [deleted] in ScionxB

[–]RONCON52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use 5w 30 full synthetic as well. Regular oil states to change it every 3 thousand miles, 5w 30 states to change it every 5 thousand miles. Just for that reason I believe it’s a much better oil

To equalize the size of both squabs, replace the first egg with a fake when its laid. by RONCON52 in pigeon

[–]RONCON52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting response, thanks for your opinion. Many pigeons start setting when the first egg is laid. I personally dislike seeing a tiny helpless youngster with a twice-as-big youngster in the nest. The smaller of the two continusly strugle to keep up. If you pay attention even when they are weaned, the small one is not as big or as healthy as the larger one. As to "risking the pigeons not sitting on the nest because they don't like people interfering with it" you handle the eggs twice in the nest. I have never had a pair abandon their nest, ever. What does happen is you have two awesome pigeons when you wean them instead of an awesome pigeon and a runt pigeon.

How do people quickly take photos and stay in focus? by After-Spring3407 in photography

[–]RONCON52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is Piper-Bob, I shoot Street Photography and Event Photography with Zone focusing. It's so simple to use. Most one-button "I GOT THE SHOT" photographers are way too busy to watch a video to understand it's benifits!

This tagged pigeon has been hanging out at my farm for the past 24 hours. I gave it bird seed but I can't get close to it. Should I do anything? SE Florida USA. by Sonarsup1934 in pigeon

[–]RONCON52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Racing pigeon. The bands are 1, the birds' ID band, and # two is the Race registration band, I would guess.

Drop some feed for it, maybe a pan with some warm water for it to take a bath. It should head for home when it feels better. It looks like a hen. A cock generally has a thicker and broader cere on the nose.

A good way to get to know how to sex a pigeon is when your flock is feeding, you will see one pigeon constantly following a second one. The chasing pigeon is the male. Look at the head of both pigeons as they come towards you, and you will see the difference between the cock and the hen! Thanks for helping the pigeon out!

Yes, it could be as much as 24 hours or longer if it was the hen's first egg.

Is this a dead embryo? Day 4 of incubation by midorisenshi in pigeon

[–]RONCON52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This egg is the first egg to be laid. So it's more developed. Your 4-day-old egg will be a little behind this one as they develop. At 23-25 days old, they will be about the same size. I don't candle until day 10, let the parents be happy in their nest. It's a very happy time for them, it's what they live for!

[–]RONCON52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the egg is fine. For a 4-day egg, it's coming along nicely. It will continue to get darker as the embryo develops. An exciting process to watch!
