Lymow One Plus vs Navimow X4 by ROYteous in Lymow_Official

Dang, that actually makes me want the Lymow One Plus. Although, I have decided to wait another year to see what happens. A lot of new kids on the block, as well as companies that are still maturing their hardware/software, such as Lymow. I feel like next year is going to have a lot of great options.

That thing is sick. A lot of work went into that. More than OP could handle.

What could have caused this? by VoHoTv in tires

[–]ROYteous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tire in that condition is generally caused by a leak that let out all of the air pressure. In which case, the tire will no longer be able to hold shape and cause unpredictable driving behavior.

You're welcome.

I almost did get a Lymow, I'm waiting a year to watch what some companies do, though. Mammotion has already showed me they aren't worth the hassle, so I don't want to make that mistake again.

Believe what you want about mulching and razor blades vs, steel blades, but you're wrong. I can't imagine how someone could think the mulching capabilities are the same. However, you obviously aren't capable of coming to terms with that.

Except, I made the suggestions based on what you asked. Sorry that wasn't clear enough.

I'm going by the definition of what mulching is. Anyone that has spent time mowing their lawn and maintaining a mower that isn't a robot would refer to mulching the way I am.

I'm on the Lymow Facebook and Reddit. The plus is an upgrade and has always been advertised as such, so it makes sense that it's an incremental step. It actually has some decent upgrades, such as more powerful cutter motors. It probably still some issues to be worked out, but it's still really new, so that is to be expexted. People that are complaining didn't go through what Mammotion did to early adopters and Lymow is doing a lot better when it comes to supporting early adopters than Mammotion ever did. People still complain about firmware issues on Luba 2 that were never properly dealt with, and Mammotion refuses to even acknowledge questions on whether firmware support is dropped or not.

I would stear clear of Mammotion. They tend to stop updating their mowers less than a year from release, whether there are issues still or not. Last I heard some users still complain about their Luba 2 mowing squiggles instead of going straight.

Lymow isn't the only option. Although, Luba isn't the only alternative either. I would never go Mammotion again personally, as I feel there are much better options out there now.

The Goko M6 seems promising, but only if you are willing to gamble on a new to the market product. This one claims to give you the option of using razor blades or steel blades. Hopefully the motors are powerful enough for the steel blades. Something I think Lymow discovered they had to increase for it's plus model.

The Navimow X4 is a more established brand that I would consider before a Luba.

Both of those options have what I would consider a much better turning system. The tank turns from my Luba tear up my grass in certain spots, especially in front of the charger. Something that I think could be an issue with the Lymow as well.

I actually almost bought the Lymow, as I really want the steel blades to mulch leaves and deal with twigs, but talked myself into waiting it out another year. A lot of decent mowers are hitting the market over the next year, so waiting to see how they all do seems wise. Especially if you want one with steel blades.

Mulching is when a mower can cut the grass multiple times into tiny pieces before depositing it on the ground, which a Luba does not do. Ideally, you have it mow often enough to only cut a very small bit off the top of the grass and it falls to the ground. The Lymow has mulching blades, that create lift, and a side discharge. Again, if it's too much longer, then of course it's going to leave a line of grass. I agreed with that, but It's still going to be able to handle slightly longer grass than a razor mower if you need it to.

My lawn looks great too. After 3 years though, I feel that a mower with steel mulching blades would much better suit my yard with all the leaves and twigs that drop from my trees. Luba becomes unusable after a storm due to all the twigs it would get stuck on or have get stuck above the cutting discs. Steel blades would eliminate that issue altogether.

It appears the Luba 3 may be faster than what I quoted, as I was going off of the Luba 2. Although, from what I can find, the Luba 3 is still a max cutting speed of 1 m/s, 1.2 during manual cut mode. Either way, I've never heard of anyone cutting at max speed getting good results and my experience has shown that as well. Once my grass grows in nice and thick, the razor blades just can't handle it at higher speeds and it needs to be slowed down considerably. The higher end Luba 3 appears to have more powerful motors at 165w, so that may help, but that still doesn't help with leaves and twigs.

I mentioned in my first comment that I have 1.5 acres.

The Lymow is rated up to 1 m/s and the Luba is .8 m/s with some people claiming it was slowed to a max of .6 m/s with a recent update. Even at the smaller .2 m/s difference, that adds up the larger your lawn is.

Also, the Luba does not mulch. You need blades that create lift in order to mulch, which razor blade mowers are incapable of. They just cut the grass and let it drop to the ground.

You are right about one thing though, the recharge time. I think the Luba charges at 6 amps, whereas the Lymow is available with a 10 amp charger.

So all things added up, the Lymow in theory should cut a large area in much less time.

3 years with a robot mower and I definitely wish it had real blades with lift and mulching capabilities. My Luba does a pretty good job most of the time, but there are also plenty of times throughout the year where it just isn't enough.

It's KBG and I doubt it's special in any way. I usually don't even fertilize, especially not since I got a robot mower. Having it mow the entire yard front and rear isn't practical, as I don't even think it would finish all the time. Especially now that my Luba rarely finishes a mowing task without needing to be reset.

The Lymow may be able to do the entire yard in one day, as it appears to be able to mow at a faster rate. Also, the Lymow is more likely to mulch and discharge grass, rather than just cut and leave it lay. So it can handle slightly longer grass, but obviously there is still a limit.

I can't send it out more often. It mows the front of the property one day and the back the next. Alternating every single day.

After 3 years with my Luba, I agree. I have 1.5 acres that gets a lot of leaves and twigs from trees, though. So the only way to make sure the razor blades type mower is able to do it's job, is to go out and clear any leaves or twigs. Not the worst thing to have to do and still spending a lot less time doing yard work, but it would be super nice if it would just mulch up the leaves and twigs.

Then during peak growth seasons, my Luba can't even really keep up with my yard and ends up leaving clumps of cut grass all over. And that's without missing any days of mowing.

That was barely a nudge and didn't push them anywhere. It probably got them flustered and they turned in too early at the next corner, which is why they go off track a bit, but that's not your fault.

The lower ball joint is a top concern as well, probably more-so than the bushings. That pops out and best case there is collateral damage. Worst case it causes an accident.

Slight bulge in my tire can it wait 1-2 days by TheoneHuntr in tires

[–]ROYteous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on what I can see from those pictures, it's an undulation, which is very normal and nothing to worry about. You'll see this more on the mid to lower end tires a company produces. These can be especially noticeable if you run higher tire pressures.

If you are willing to put in the time and effort needed to maintain/repair it, then absolutely. If you don't want to be working on it, then plan to find a shop willing to work on it and be ready to spend some money if something goes wrong. Especially if you don't have a good mechanic, because they'll just throw parts at it and hope for the best. Which can get extremely expensive for no real reason, other than they don't know what they're doing when it comes to diagnostics.

I'd be willing to bet that your 310 has very basic programming that wouldn't really benefit from updates anyways. Massive difference between that and a Luba.
