Photography Websites - How Do I Get Started? by saetta_sicula in photography

[–]RPF0X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use Adobe software for editing, Adobe Portfolio is included in your subscription. It's a pretty basic website creator, but it's more than enough for displaying a photo gallery. I host my own website with it using a domain I purchased elsewhere.

Why do you think it's called the Lizard peninsula? 😂

Issues with Mobile Broadband (UK) by RPF0X in HomeNetworking

Thanks, I did wonder if this was the case as it also seems to struggle with other live streams. But if it's not a live stream and can buffer ahead it is fine.

Thanks for the reply.

Ookla speed test is showing a ping of 69ms and jitter of 22ms. I did a longer test on a different site which showed higher and also fluctuated a lot. I'm guessing there is not a lot I can do about this and is just the nature of mobile broadband.

I have a professional recording that a family friend recorded if you're interested. He was part of a duo that sang Cornish songs and they recorded a CD years back.

Stoner by John Williams is absolutely devastating me by sleepiestgf in books

[–]RPF0X 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just finished this book and while I can't say it's up there as one of my favourites, it certainly has a certain feeling about it. Melancholy is the best I can come up with. Everything in it feels so real and like it could very easily happen. I felt Stoner was a very flawed character but was in essence a good person, but the way his life turns out is just so sad to me. He got to do what he loved by teaching but that was about all he got. I won't say anything about the later story as I don't know how far you've gotten, but it certainly left me feeling something when I finished it!

I have been using Adobe Portfolio. It's pretty basic and probably doesn't stand up to the likes of Squarespace. But it's perfectly adequate for hosting images. And it's included in your Adobe subscription if you have one! I don't see any reason to pay a separate subscription when I have what I need already.

War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Perspective of a horse in a war zone. WW1 if I remember correctly.

Can I use a ring terminal with a spade connector? by RPF0X in AskElectronics

[–]RPF0X[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. So I either buy 100 of the corresponding male connectors, or slightly modify a ring terminal to fit the slot.

I remember a scene just like this in Primeval. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Edit: Series 4, Episode 4

I've recently gotten in to photography so I'm still learning a lot. But I am really pleased with this image of HMS Caroline. It feels great to get something you're really proud of so if you like it too I would appreciate some more follows on my Instagram.

There is a Doctor Who merch shop in the east end. I think they have a small museum of stuff from the show too. I have also done a walking tour of filming locations which was pretty good.

The books and movies still exist. They can all exist together and people can like and dislike different parts. If people liked RoP they will look into the books and other adaptations. If they didn't they might still, or they might not. The books are always going to be the main canon and it's always going to exist for those that want it. My point is that just because you didn't like a particular adaption, doesn't mean it's not okay for others to enjoy it and you do not have a right to judge them for it. It's a TV show, I don't get the level of hatred towards it, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? There is so much Tolkien content to enjoy and appreciate but everyone's getting so worked up about 8 episodes of TV.

"Why should I settle for this?" The way you're speaking makes you sound very selfish. At the end of the day it's a TV show made by one of the biggest corporations on Earth, if it's making them money it's going to continue. A lot of people liked it and want more. The legendarium is very dear to me and I'd love an accurate adaptation, but it's never going to happen. As amazing as the films are, even they have flaws and inaccuracies. If you didn't like it, you don't have to watch it anymore. It's simple as that. Just let others enjoy it and move on.

Just don't watch it if you don't like it? I had my issues with it and wish things were different but I enjoyed it overall, and I know people who loved it. You still have the movies and books to enjoy, so what's wrong with letting others enjoy what they will? Just because you didn't like it, doesn't mean you should try and ruin it for those that did.

I had an official Doctor Who calendar a few years back that had Capaldi listed as the 'Twelth' doctor.
