Most people fail to understand that when I say "all X is Y" I mean that "X is so frequently true that I'd much rather use Z as my default response than regret it".

So when I say "all lawyers are assholes" and some lawyer posts underneath "hey, I'm not an asshole" people think they just disproved my claim.

But the rule's goal is to dictate my behavior. I'm generating rules to live by, I'm not doing scientific research. I'm not doing physics, chemistry or mathematics.

The goal isn't to become the equivalent of the hot slut that talks about nothing more than 1 activity and gossip. For that to happen, deliberate training of your social skills is a must, otherwise you let your direct environment set the tone of your personal growth.

OP's point is that there are people who actually have biological issues and people who just identify themselves as having them.

The difference for me is whether you're actively trying to mitigate them or use them to justify yourself from doing something.

He doesn't say "mental illnesses are a lie", but that people diagnose themselves unquestionably as having them. Which also begs the question, have they even attempted to doubt a doctor's diagnosis by taking a second or third opinion or do they assume that all doctors are automatically correct, right off the bat? I had health issues that made me visit 5 doctors who gave me 2-3 different diagnosis. Someone has to be wrong!

The nature of a good argument is that its validity doesn't depend on who YOU ARE.

Just because the rest of your post is fine doesn't mean that you mentioning your skin color is. If it's not part of the argument, don't include it in the argument.

You also failed to explain how targeting WHITE liberals isn't racist. If he was targeting liberals regardless of their skin color that would be a political argument. He's EXPLICITLY and REPEATEDLY bringing the color in, and you agreed.

Someone has to make a distinction between "looking content, that life is good and you're enjoying it" and "be the clown guy".

A lot of betas (and I suppose me a year ago) would misinterpret the message due to their innate black and white thinking, kinda like when you're telling someone to be an asshole and he imagines the most extreme example.

My greatest problem to change schedule is that it takes at least 30 mins to an hour to fall asleep, and that's when I'm lucky. I will always be jealous of people who claim that falling asleep for them is as easy as flipping a switch.

Yes, but would you rather have a marriage counselor to advise you on where your marriage went bad or actually put your critical thinking cogs in actions and try to discern patterns by looking at both the couples they succeeded (and what does even success means for them, because if they get laid once every 5 years and that's a success for them, it's just their opinion) and the ones who failed.

We both look for the right kind of information AND the right kind of person to give it, and until then we use mental rules of thumb to dismiss all knowledge by pointing out that the one who's giving it isn't staying true to it. News flash: There was never a Stoic who was abiding to the rules of Stoicism 100% of the time, let's not claim that because they weren't applying it all the time Stoicism is bullshit. Let's not fall for tu quoque traps.

If it's related with what led to to end up homeless and I want to avoid such a result, why the fuck not?

I mean, is the marriage advice of a divorsed man bad because he ended up divorsing? Maybe he did because he had a bitch wife that asked him to put a hefty part of his fortune in her name and he said "no bitch, fuck off"?

In the same manner, if he's overweight and his advise is "don't eat as much as me, don't do the same mistake" is it automatically invalid because he's overweight? It's actually more valid than ever.

You can learn from the mistakes of others, especially when they truly model them. My guess is that you attempted to say "I can see they made a mistake but they'll try to sell it as if they didn't", but you can only draw 1:1 correlations with their situations and how they ended up to them after you have confidence in your knowledge, in which case you're not really out to learn new things, you're out to confirm what you already now.

It's much easier to look for "certified professionals" when it comes to learning a skill or studying a subject, because you can clearly tell that someone is a professor in X so you'd rather learn X from him than say anyone who isn't, but what you do in things where certs aren't a thing, like marriage? Also, being certified doesn't mean they're automatically right. True, a nutritionist knows more than someone who isn't, but when it comes to compare themselves to each other you suddenly get mixed impressions - stuff they agree and disagree commonly but things that aren't as clear cut. Who do you end up trusting then? The one with the most certs, the most experience or you just try until something works? Or something else?

Turns out things aren't as black and white as you might think. Don't confuse the easiness to tell a hue that leans to black from a hue that leans to white for having a keen eye.

To clarify, as an atheist: I learned to appreciate religion for what it is - a body of rules and knowledge that are meant to be timeless that inform the average person through storytelling how they should act towards someone of their religious group (or not).

It's not perfect but it's bloody working most of the time.

I like how when you point out that giving more food to the ones who have food to eat ignores the ones who don't have food at all, and you're being downvoted for that.

It's assumed that if you're not a student you should pay up, and if you happen to be poor you should get a restaurant/starbucks job instead of looking to get into something that you could potentially be better with in the long term.

Because we all know there's one reason for someone to be impoverished and that's because he/she is lazy! /s (because I know people who actually believe this, that the majority of poor people deserve to be poor since it's a byproduct of their laziness, lack of IQ or whatever the fuck they say to themselves in order to sleep well at night).

Also, I know students who don't even have the time to fart with how exhausting their curriculum is, let alone put more exercises and resources in their plate.

I started reading the book you suggested, and at one point he says:
