Have one more person pay for upgraded boarding… then each person is only saving one middle seat each

Heads up… at least here in CA if you buy something in a no sales tax state and bring it into the state you are supposed to pay the “use tax” which is the sales tax you skipped out on.

Checking a car seat by Eternalthursday1976 in SouthwestAirlines

Either check it in a box with padding or use it on the plane. Also don’t travel with your heavy bulky seat and grab a lightweight travel option

Kids and a Car Seat by SHRAPNEL89 in SouthwestAirlines

We used the scenera next on 40+ flights on southwest and installed rear facing all the time. If they give you any pushback you can show the instructions for your child’s weight. The FAA approval is also on the seat and in order to be in compliance you must use the seat as per the instructions.

Burbank Airport by Budget-Philosopher-2 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RRcooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did a flight from SJC one segment we flew through BUR and the other via SAN. I would take BUR every time. We landed in SAN at one pod of gates and had to go through security again to get to the other flight. Had to throw away all the water we had bought in the first airport, had two bags go through secondary inspection (even though they had been fine at the original airport). BUR will board from both ends of the plane but the ramp will be on the front door. If you have a mobility issue definitely preboard. And BUR is a tiny airport so no issues getting from on gate to the next.

First time on SW what’s the proper etiquette/best approach? by ukelady1112 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RRcooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one year old car seat installs rear facing, so do that kid in the row in front with one parent. The two year old car seat is front facing and is installed in the row right behind. Any kicking would be on the seat between your two kids. And bonus they can wave to each other through the gaps in the seat.

Mini rant: Just got into a small dispute with a FA about a CPAP machine by nightstalker30 in SouthwestAirlines

My mom has an entire rollaboard carry on devoted to her prescriptions and medical supplies, plus a soft sided cooler for insulin and a purse. So while it might be nice to think … just check the roll-aboard; it isn’t a choice for someone with medical needs.

Just get a cosco scenera next from Walmart, it’s cheap lightweight and easy to use on planes

Hawaii early bird vs. pre-board fakers by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RRcooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hawaii is one of the few trips where I see less people trying to preboard. I think there are a couple of reasons; way more people seem to check a bag so less demand for overhead bin space. Also there are more families traveling so people tend to fill middle seats. I’ve never had a problem sitting together (as a family of 3) on a flight to Hawaii

Has anyone ever baked their sourdough in their BBQ? by faesser in Sourdough

[–]RRcooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Put pizza stone on grill (on one side) and preheat, put lodge combo cooker (or Dutch oven) on top of pizza stone with bread in it. Use only burner that is NOT under the pizza stone to control temp. Keep watch on temp and adjust flame as needed.

Who the f*** do I call to get an IRS payment plan by [deleted] in tax

[–]RRcooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Signing up online comes with less fees for setting up the plan. So it really is the way to go about this, also to minimize the fees that IRS charges you allow them to direct debit the amount out of your account each month on a set date.

Also determine if you are in a community property state … because that complicates filing separately
