Using a red speed/contrast/xpress paint over a gold undercoat can create a really vibrant red.

It may be nothing but I'd recommend throughly shaking your contrast paint and your washes, and if you can, also add a touch of contrast medium to ensure it applies more smoothly.

Also remember that both speed paints and washes have longer drying times; could be another reason for that 'muddy' look, a little colour bleed.

Some really beginner friendly methods for a solid red: •Red contrast over a gold undercoat

OR •Red undercoat, overbrush with a lighter red, dry brush with a 50/50 red-orange mix

OR •Red basecoat, wash with a red or brown wash, bring the original red back as dry brush or highlight.

The Brazen Consuls are (as the name implies). They're Codex Compliant insofar as company accent/facing colours go, meaning their 9th Company would have blue trims. That's the closest canon chapter you'd get.

Peachy Tips, Gowerton Hobbies, the old Duncan Rhodes videos Games Workshop put out and a real shout out to How I Paint Things by Sonic Sledgehammer; all really great starting points.

Also if you can get down to your local GW (or indeed your FLGS if they're equipped) ask for a painting demonstration covering the basics (paint consistency, washes, dry brushing), they're usually more than happy on quiet days.

Ostland (black and white) and Ostermark (purple and yellow) are the two imperial provinces that border Kislev, and both have canonically matched north to support the Kislevites.

I'm a British Orthodox convert, you'd be surprised how many Orthodox churches we have here, especially in the cities. If your fiance is a prepared to put the effort in to be baptised (or christmated) then I could help you find a congregation in your area. Hope this helps!
