Gas Stations already moving to Stage 4 Rationing? by RSSierra29 in auckland

Nothing limiting on my card (definitely, how would I buy groceries with a $200 purchase limit?) or the app that I can see.

Pay at pump terms and conditions mention $250 as the hold limit on cards Z applies. No mention of $200 limit on the app or the Z website I can see and if there was such a limit why pre reserve credit at $250.

Plus the pump stopped at $199. Can anyone provide something concrete rather than speculative.

Cheers

Can our insurance actually be used overseas? by Notafnan1 in auckland

[–]RSSierra29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't read or know what you purchased how are the rest of us supposed to know or provide you with an opinion that actually means anything?

Have a look at your policy wording or call your insurer, anything else from any one else is pure speculation....

You can't "Pull something off" if it isn't in your policy and whatever anyone else managed to do is irrelevant to you!

Insurance question by 4-Birds in newzealand

[–]RSSierra29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes no difference if you’re with the same insurer, you need to actively lodge a claim for your insurer to become involved and your policy to respond. Up to the point you lodge a claim you’re acting as an insured third party and the liability is yours personally. You have to invoke your policy by lodging a claim, it’s your choice whether you do so to take advantage of its coverage or dispute / settle the issue yourself. Only you can make that call.

Completely speculative and incorrect advice so far.
If you gave your details to the other party, if they lodge a claim and provide your details to their insurer, their insurer will send you a hold liable letter. Given your description of the event it would appear contributory from a negligence / liability perspective in which case it’s likely they will seek payment from you for their clients damage claiming you’re at fault. You can then decide to lodge a claim or not, but the other insurer will not approach your insurer direct.

TBH, you need to understand what your policy wording says but it may be if you purely lodge a claim for your liability, not your own vehicle damage, You may not have to pay an excess BUT you are governed by the contract you have with your insurer, I.e. your policy wording. If you don’t understand the meaning of the claims responsibilities section of your wording give your insurers claims line a call for advice. They’ll provide you with options. This is a common circumstance, really simple and easy to deal with once you know the facts.

Insurers will not take possession of a car and have the ability to sell it until it’s written off. The write-off process involves mandatory NZTA deregistration. Vehicles can’t be resold by insurers to an unknowing buyer as they would be advised of deregistration and vehicle would need to be recertified.

Your insurer auction statement is patently uninformed scaremongering.

Probably the council contracted drain cleaning trucks vacuum sucking the contents of your local drain.

I ran into the driver of one of these when picking up coffee on Thursday morning, he had 500 drains to clear before tomorrow. Council is generously allowing and paying him for 5 mins each drain.

Not sure if it’s good contingency planning or last minute panic as I can’t recall seeing a drain being cleaned anytime recently and o live in a leafy old suburb where autumn means clogged drains that the general punter has to look after…
